The symbolic video was shot at “June 16, 2017 Clisson performance”. This is a multi-camera pro shot when he appeared at the famous French metal festival “HELLFEST”. Speaking of “THE LONG GOODBYE Tour”, the title called “Isn’t it a farewell tour?”, And we went around the world until 2020, including the performance in Japan. This is DEEP PURPLE from 2017 to 2020. I feel like the release of “INFINITE” was a long time ago, but after that, it was a lot of live performance until the world stopped with the new Corona Pandemic. The appearance of “HELLFEST” in this work is the beginning of that. It was a concert equivalent to 21 performances of “Europe # 1” about two months after the album was released.
Because of the festival that represents Europe, the video became a hot topic right after the live, and it became a standard at our shop as “LIVE IN EUROPE 2017 (Shades 776)”. It is also used on the bonus disc of the new work “WHOOSH!” Released last year. Literally, it has reigned as a professional shot representing “THE LONG GOODBYE Tour”. This work is neither such an existing re-release nor a copy of the official product. Just the other day, it is the latest master that was re-delivered. “HELLFEST” was forced to be canceled in 2020/2021 due to the influence of the new corona, but we are planning to revive it on a large scale in 2022. For the notice, we are reprinting the archive video of the past. What’s more, the quality has been talked about as “higher image quality than at that time!”
Actually, depending on the band, it may not be so much, but the DEEP PURPLE version is certainly an upgrade. The distribution master at that time was also acclaimed as “official class”, and although it was only in 2017 and it is perfect even now, this work has improved image quality and sound quality. The illusionary mood that gradually deepens the darkness reminiscent of “Karijam” is even more vivid. Of course, a decline knowing of dance mad Ian Paice from the intro of “Fireball” drumming, there to Roger Glover and Don put a stunning solo in the beating, still vivid phrase stop Domo without full of Steve Morse. And Ian Gillan is also beautifully drawn.

これが2017年ー2020年のDEEP PURPLE。『INFINITE』のリリースも随分前のような気がしますが、その後は新型コロナ・パンデミックで世界が止まるまで、たっぷりライヴ三昧だったわけです。本作の”HELLFEST”出演は、そんな中でも序盤。アルバム発売の約２ヶ月後となる「欧州#1」の21公演にあたるコンサートでした。
ヨーロッパを代表するフェスだけに、その映像はライヴ直後から大いに話題となり、当店でも『LIVE IN EUROPE 2017（Shades 776）』として定番化。昨年リリースされた新作『WHOOSH!』のボーナス・ディスクにも採用されるなど。文字通り、“THE LONG GOODBYE Tour”を代表するプロショットとして君臨してきました。本作は、そんな既発の再リリースでもなければ、公式品のコピーでもありません。つい先日、最配信された最新マスターなのです。”HELLFEST”は新型コロナ禍の影響で2020年／2021年に中止に追い込まれてしまったわけですが、2022年には大規模スケールで復活を計画中。その予告のため、過去のアーカイヴ映像を復刻配信しているのです。しかも、そのクオリティは「当時よりも高画質！」と話題になっているのです。
実のところ、バンドによってはそれほどでもなかったりするのですが、DEEP PURPLE篇は確かにアップグレード。当時の配信マスターも「オフィシャル級」と絶賛され、2017年だけあって今の目でも申し分ないのですが、本作は画質も音質もグッと向上。“カリジャム”を想起させる徐々に闇が深くなっていく幻想ムードも、より一層鮮やか。もちろん「Fireball」のイントロから踊り狂うイアン・ペイスの衰え知らずなドラミング、そこに乱打に見事なソロを乗せるロジャー・グローヴァーやドン、今なお鮮やかなフレーズが止めどもなく溢れるスティーヴ・モーズ。そしてイアン・ギランも美しく描かれているのです。

フル収録しているオフィシャル版に比べると配信枠からか約１時間にダイジェストされているのが残念でもありますが、映像と音声の美しさはピカイチ。“THE LONG GOODBYE Tour”を手軽に味わうには絶好の１枚なのです。４年前に話題を呼んだ名映像。最新アップグレード・マスターでぜひご体験ください。
