[コレクターズ・ポイント] １９７６年の編集アルバム『ロックン・ロール・ミュージック』に続いて翌年発売された『ラブ・ソングス』も前作と同じく日米主導で企画され今回も単に過去のオリジナル・ステレオ・ミックス音源を流用せずにこのアルバム用に新たなリミックス音源が使われています。前作同様にジョージ・マーティンが全面的に全曲関わったかの具体的な記述がないものの６０年代のオリジナル・ステレオ・ミックスを嫌い新たなリミックス音源が使われており今回は何故か英国盤の方がステレオ・チャンネルが入れ替えられ『ラバー・ソウル』の数曲がセンター寄りのナロウ・ミックスであることは知られていますが疑似ステレオのままの収録は同じながら「ディス・ボーイ」「イエス・イット・イズ」の米英の違いや米国盤のみ「ザ・ロング・アンド・ワインディング・ロード」の別ミックスであったりその他多くの曲でも米英でステレオ・セパレーションが異なっていたりと興味深いミックス違いの宝庫となっています。ＣＤ１には米国キャピトル盤のリミックス音源を収録。ＣＤ２には英国パーロフォン盤のリミックス音源を収録しており今回それぞれアナログ原盤から新たにデジタル変換し細やかなノイズ除去や補正処理が施された最新リストア＆リマスターでＣＤ化されています。ＤＶＤにはプロモ・ビデオやＴＶショウ等様々な映像素材を元に全曲ビデオ映像化。見ながら聴くビデオ・アルバムとして楽しめる初登場の映像コレクションです。さらにコンペア・オーディオ・アルバムとしてオーディオ・セレクト切り替えで米国リミックス音源と英国リミックス音源さらにリミックスされてないオリジナル・ステレオ音源も収録。ＤＶＤならではの再生機能でヘッドフォンで聴きながら音声切り替えでそのミックス違いを聴き比べることも可能でこのアルバムのほとんどの曲がオリジナル・ステレオ・ミックスとは異なり米英それぞれ独自のリミックス音源であることが判ります。ＣＤジャケットには米国オリジナル盤の初回ゴールド・エンボス加工デザインのゲイトフォールド見開き仕様を再現。ＤＶＤジャケットには米国ブックレット・デザイン仕様となっています。さらに２ＣＤ＋１ＤＶＤのプレミアム・リミテッド・エディション付属の限定ポストカードには７７年当時の貴重な米国オリジナル・ポスターを再現しています。ビートルズの貴重な編集アルバムをマニアックに追及したコレクター注目の音源比較研究資料となる『メモリアル・アルバム・コレクション』第２弾です。
