ライブ活動を休止してスタジオ・レコーディングに専念する66年末から68年初頭までを収録。CD1では「ストロベリー・フィールズ・フォーエバー」の制作過程がドキュメントされた音源から始まり芸術的コンセプト・アルバムとしてロックの歴史を塗り替えた『サージェント・ペッパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブ・バンド』のセッション音源を収録。オリジナルに比べ収録曲も倍増されレコーディング・セッションの様子もより伝わる内容になっています。インストだった「ウィズイン・ユー・ウィズアウト・ユー」がボーカル入りに変更されていたりとアップデイトされています。CD2には自主制作映画『マジカル・ミステリー・ツアー』収録のアウトテイクスを中心に収録。多くのモノラルだった音源がリアル・ステレオに変更されている他、音質クオリティの向上やより長い収録であったりとアップデイトされています。世界同時中継された「愛こそすべて」や「クリスマス・タイム（イズ・ヒア・アゲイン）」もモノラルからステレオ化された未編集バージョンとなっています。またオリジナル未収録だったインストではないジョージのボーカル入り「ジ・インナー・ライト」のアウトテイクや「アクロス・ザ・ユニバース（テイク７）」も追加収録されています。
