“ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ” was said to be Paul Di’Anno’s last orthodox metal band. The complete collection of super-superb professional shots is now available.
This work contains 2 performances (+ bonus). It is a multi-camera pro shot of “ROCK HARD FESTIVAL performance on May 22, 2015” and “WACKEN OPEN AIR performance on July 30, 2015”. I’m sure some of you are wondering, “What is ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ?”, so let’s start from scratch.
Architects of Chaoz is a band formed in 2015 centering on Diano’s tour members. Although the debut work “THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS” was not a Japanese version, it became a hot topic as Diano’s first orthodox metal album in a long time. After all, since the mid-90s, Diano has been mainly covering IRON MAIDEN’s self-covers, and the original albums they occasionally produce are all Pantera-style groove metal. It was the first time in 23 years since KILLERS’ “MURDER ONE” that he sang brave and melodic orthodox metal.
Diano left ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ shortly after the release of his debut work, but during that short time he also performed live. At that time, Diano also had a solo performance of the IRON MAIDEN cover at the same time, so let’s first look back at the schedule and check the situation at the time.

This is Paul Di’Anno in 2015. His solo performance is to sing MAIDEN numbers backed by local bands from all over the world. In the meantime, I was doing the ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ show as well. Among the two performances contained in this work, the beginning is also the beginning. It was a European festival that appeared as a new band announcement.
Such a work is truly an official-class ultra-superb product. Speaking of “ROCK HARD FESTIVAL” and “WACKEN OPEN AIR”, they are famous festivals that represent the European metal scene, so it seems obvious that they are the best, but among them, this work is produced by carefully selected best masters. . Especially the first half “ROCK HARD FESTIVAL” video can be seen on Youtube, but the quality is completely different. This work has been converted to DVD directly from the station master.
It’s been a long time (very long time!) Diano’s voice and a tearful stage where you can listen to a new original song, portrayed with visual beauty that doesn’t allow any expression other than “completely official level”. Let’s organize the two performances here.

… and it looks like this. The MAIDEN number is limited to only 2 songs, and there are plenty of new songs. About half of KILLERS in 1992 was MAIDEN songs, so this is the first live performance since BATTLEZONE. Moreover, the result of the new song is very good. Those of you who have experienced “THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS” will know that the metal that Diano roars to catchy and melodic songs is reminiscent of W.A.S.P. and RUNNING WILD. Although it is an easy-to-remember song melody, it has an irresistible manly smell.
After these two performances, this work includes two additional delicious bonus videos. One is a teaser video that will be a preview of the debut work “THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS”, and the other is the lyric PV of “How Many Times”. As mentioned above, Diano will withdraw from ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ in a short period of time, but this work covers the professional images produced during that time.
At the time, I was shocked by Diano barking while sitting on a chair with a cane. However, now that I am used to that tube, I can understand the true value of ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ. A one-of-a-kind band that roars melodic power metal with that voice and singing that only Diano has. The decision board that serves as the “official substitute”. そんな本作に収められているのは２公演（＋ボーナス）。「2015年５月22日ROCK HARD FESTIVAL公演」と「同７月30日WACKEN OPEN AIR公演」のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。「ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZってナニ？」という方もいらっしゃると思いますので、イチから始めましょう。
そもそもARCHITECTS OF CHAOZはディアノのツアーメンバーを中心に、2015年に結成されたバンド。デビュー作『THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS』は日本盤こそなかったものの、ディアノ久々の正統派メタル・アルバムとして話題となりました。何しろ、ディアノは90年代半ばからIRON MAIDENのセルフカバーがメインになり、たまに製作するオリジナル・アルバムもPANTERA風グルーヴ・メタルばかり。彼が雄々しくメロディックな正統派メタルを歌うのは、KILLERSの『MURDER ONE』以来23年ぶりだったのです。
デビュー作リリース後しばらくするとディアノはARCHITECTS OF CHAOZから離脱してしまうのですが、その短い間にもライヴ活動も行ってくれました。当時のディアノはIRON MAIDENカバーのソロ公演も同時並行していましたので、まずはスケジュールを振り返って当時の様子を確認してみましょう。

これが2015年のポール・ディアノ。彼のソロ公演は、世界各地の地元バンドをバックにMAIDENナンバーを歌うというもの。その合間を縫うようにして、ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZのショウもこなしていました。本作に収められている２公演は、その中でも序盤も序盤。新バンドのお披露目として出演した欧州フェスだったのです。
そんな本作は、まさに完全オフィシャル級の超極上品。”ROCK HARD FESTIVAL”と”WACKEN OPEN AIR”と言えば、欧州メタルシーンを代表する有名フェスなのですから極上で当たり前のようでもありますが、その中でも本作は厳選されたベスト・マスターから製作されている。特に前半”ROCK HARD FESTIVAL”映像はYoutubeでも見られますが、クオリティ的にはまったくの別物級。本作は局マスターからダイレクトにDVD化されているのです。
「完全オフィシャル級」以外の表現を許さない映像美で画かれるのは、久々に（本当に久々に！）ディアノの声でオリジナル新曲が聴ける感涙モノのステージ。ここで２公演まとめて整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。MAIDENナンバーはわずか２曲に抑え、新曲がたっぷり。1992年のKILLERSでも半分くらいはMAIDEN曲でしたから、ここまで攻めたライヴはBATTLEZONE以来のことです。しかも、その新曲の出来がすこぶる良い。『THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS』を体験された方ならご存知と思いますが、キャッチーでメロディックな曲をディアノが吠えるメタルは、W.A.S.P.やRUNNING WILD辺りを彷彿とさせる。憶えやすい歌メロでありながら、むせ返る漢臭さがたまらないのです。
そんな２公演の後、本作には美味しいボーナス映像も２種追加収録されています。１つはデビュー作『THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS』の予告となるティーザー映像で、もう１つは「How Many Times」のリリックPV。前述のようにディアノは短期間でARCHITECTS OF CHAOZから離脱してしまうわけですが、本作はその間に製作されたプロ映像を網羅しているのです。
当時は松八重杖を付き、椅子に座りっぱなしで吠えるディアノに衝撃を受けたものです。しかし、その管にも慣れた今ならARCHITECTS OF CHAOZの真価が分かる。ディアノだけのあの声、あの歌い回しでメロディック・パワーメタルを吠える唯一無二の名バンド。その「オフィシャル代わり」を務める決定盤。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください！
