ANTHRAX in the late 80’s expanded the horizons of thrash metal with “I’M THE MAN” and “STATE OF EUPHORIA”. A new excavation master who can experience the site is now available.
What is imbued in such a work is “Paris performance on June 15, 1989”. It is a powerful audience recording that vacuum-packed the whole story. Speaking of “STATE OF EUPHORIA Tour”, the masterpiece “CHICAGO 1988 (Shades 1185)” is also a staple at our shop. First of all, let’s check each position from the whole view of the world tour.

This is the 1988/1989 ANTHRAX. It was “AMONG THE LIVING Tour” until “North America # 1” at the beginning of 1988, but after the album was produced, it was “STATE OF EUPHORIA Tour”. The Paris performance of this work was the 13th performance of “Europe # 2”, which is the final stage.
Such a show was recorded by the much-talked-about virtuoso “Stephane”. This person has been making famous recordings in the late 80’s / early 90’s, and the Paris recordings such as JUDAS PRIEST, WASP, QUEENSRYCHE, AC / DC are very popular at our shop. SCORPIONS’ “PARIS 1990 (Shades 1737)”, which will be released at the same time this week, is also the work of this person, and BLACK SABBATH’s “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1992 (Zodiac 467)” and IRON MAIDEN’s “PARIS 1993 (Zodiac 469)” , It is playing a permanent preservation press.
This work is the latest bullet of such a master collection, and it is a gem that further enhances its reputation. The most wonderful thing is a powerful core. It is not the type to be mistaken for a sound board in terms of tone, but the riff that rushes to break through the air is tough itself. Moreover, it is wonderful because it is so powerful but does not cause any chatter or distortion.
There are many good points, but I would like to mention vocals and drums. Joey Belladonna’s singing voice penetrates the thick ensemble and reaches your ears, and every word of the lyrics is clear. Moreover, it is built up with a large chorus that makes the venue boil. Don’t get me wrong here, this work is not (at all!) a recording that will be haunted by up-close vocals. Rather, I can not distinguish the cheering of each person, but the singing that spreads throughout the venue is wide and thick. The famous venue “Le Zenith” in Paris has a capacity of about 6,000 people, but Joey’s elementary pectacle with its huge chorus is the best.
And, even though it has that much thickness, Charlie Benante’s bass drum is captured beautifully one by one. As anyone who has read this article knows, in the world of slash drummers full of heroes, Charlie’s string of bass drums is the best in the world. That dallalalalalalalalalalala……………… can be enjoyed properly without being crushed one by one. Even with this alone, I think you can understand how wonderful the sound of this work is.
A show with such a neat and powerful sound is a panoramic view of the unexpectedly valuable “STATE OF EUPHORIA Tour”, and a special guest also appears. Let’s put things in order here.

… and it looks like this. Speaking of live performances in the golden age, the official works “BBC LIVE IN CONCERT” and “LIVE: THE ISLAND YEARS” are familiar, but “STATE OF EUPHORIA Tour” is the transition period. You can enjoy plenty of famous songs that cannot be heard on the official live album, such as “Be All, End All”, “Across The River”, “Finale”, and “Les Sectes”. Among them, the highlights are the encores “Les Sectes” and “God Save The Queen”. In these two songs, the French band TRUST, the originator of “Antisocial”, appears. It makes me listen to a gorgeous co-star (although I wanted him to co-star in “Antisocial” as well).
“STATE OF EUPHORIA Tour” is a little tough on the sound source side while being in the middle of the golden age. It is a new excavation master who will let you experience the best of the scene. A monumental full show that jumps out to a gorgeous co-star with TRUST. Please enjoy this work to the fullest.
★ Strong audience recording of “June 15, 1989 Paris performance”. This is the latest release from the much-talked-about virtuoso “Stephane” collection.
