ALCATRAZZ in the fall of 1984, after discovering the genius Steve Vai and returning to Japan. Introducing the world premiere original recording that conveys the scene.
This work was recorded in “October 11, 1984: Nakano Sunplaza Performance”. It is the masterpiece audience recording. Speaking of returning to Japan with Vai, the official video “POWER LIVE” reigns as a symbol, but of course this work is a separate performance. First of all, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and organize it together with our collection.

・ October 3: Nagoya Labor Hall
・ October 4th “NEW PRISONER: AMAGASAKI 1984”
・ October 8: Shibuya Public Hall
・ October 10 “POWER LIVE (Tokyo Kosei Nenkin Kaikan)”
・ October 11: Nakano Sunplaza ← ★ This work ★

Above, all 5 performances. In addition to “POWER LIVE”, which is a reproduction of the official video with the highest quality, we also have a lineup of “NEW PRISONER (Power Gate-195)”. I have archived the memorable first visit to Japan. The Nakano Sunplaza performance of this work is the last day of the Japan tour, which is different from both. Not only is this work the world premiere, but it is also a shocking live album where you can fully experience the show, for which no record has been known so far.
It seems dizzy just because of its preciousness, but the quality is even more amazing. Although it is an original master handed over from the recorder himself, this person is a master among the masters who have worked on many press titles. It is the collection of hidden treasures. And this work is a super clear gem that further enhances its fame. It is recorded from the lively conversational voice before the performance, and it must be an audience recording that feels space in the snare tone. However, the clearness is terrible that even the sound boards around it are scattered! Anyway, the on and powerful core reaches the ear, and the outline is sharp to the fine part. The vividness that awakens the eyes is such that when you close your eyes, you can see the blue laser beam dancing in your mind. This does not mean that the actual light show will come to mind. I can’t think of anything other than a laser beam for the vividness that penetrates so straight and does not allow the blurring of fine dust.
As a matter of fact, the tendency of the sound changed between the first half and the second half of the show, and the latter half was a little over-peak. For that reason, it was not possible to make it a permanent storage press, but in the first half it was a terrible name recording that could surpass even the sound board of the official video … No, it is a bright recording.
The glittering sound is a full show where Vai’s different dimension guitar goes crazy. Actually, the set may be the same as “POWER LIVE”, but it’s a good opportunity so let’s organize it.

● ALCATRAZZ number (5 songs + 7 songs)
・ NO PAROLE FROM ROCK’N’ROLL: Jet to Jet / Hiroshima Mon Amour / Kree Nakoorie / Suffer Me / Too Young to Die, Too Drunk to Live
・ DISTURBING THE PEACE: Breaking the Heart of the City / Skyfire / Sons and Lovers / God Blessed Video / Will You Be Home Tonight / Painted Lover / Stripper
● Others (4 songs)
・ DOWN TO EARTH: Since You Been Gone / All Night Long
・ Others: Moon of Arajo / Night Games

… And it looks like this. Seven songs from “DISTURBING THE PEACE”, which had not been released yet, will be performed on a large scale, but what is still interesting is the “NO PAROLE FROM ROCK’N’ROLL” number, which has been dyed in the Vai style. I don’t know if he’s seen “METALLIC LIVE ’84”, but he probably hasn’t. The passage that was re-dyed by the tapping technique that he seems to have never known how to play Yngwie is fresh. Of course, I enjoyed many of those feats in the official video, but this work focuses more on the guitar than on that sound board, and its clarity is on par with the sound board. You can enjoy it even more vividly than the official version.
And Graham, who does not take a step in front of such a genius Vai, also shows a tough throat. I thought about “POWER LIVE”, but if he sang this much even when he first came to Japan with Yngwie … The singing of this work is so terrifying that the regret of such an unrelated work is revived.

ALCATRAZZ in the “DISTURBING THE PEACE” era, where a transcendental guitar different from stylistic beauty brought out Graham’s new charm, and while Vai’s super individuality exploded, it was much easier to listen to than solo. It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can enjoy its charm more aggressively than the studio work and more vividly than the official video. The last day in Japan that I couldn’t hear before. Please fully experience this work!

Live at Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo, Japan 11th October 1984 PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters)

・10月4日『NEW PRISONER: AMAGASAKI 1984』
・10月10日『POWER LIVE(東京厚生年金会館)』

NO PAROLE FROM ROCK ‘N’ ROLL:Jet to Jet/Hiroshima Mon Amour/Kree Nakoorie/Suffer Me/Too Young to Die, Too Drunk to Live
・DISTURBING THE PEACE:Breaking the Heart of the City/Skyfire/Sons and Lovers/God Blessed Video/Will You Be Home Tonight/Painted Lover/Stripper
DOWN TO EARTH:Since You Been Gone/All Night Long
Night Games
