The 1975 Budokan, the last performance in Japan in the 70’s, was the first in three years since the riots. Introducing a gorgeous set of original sound sources and precious images.
Of course, what is included in this work is the performance of “December 15, 1975: Nippon Budokan”. This is a 3-disc set with the newly discovered audience recording on DISC 1-2 and the multi-camera pro shot on DISC 3. At our shop, we have archived many masterpieces even in the 4th period of our visit to Japan only once. First of all, let’s confirm the position of the show while organizing the collection according to the schedule at that time.

Above, all 4 performances. Nippon Budokan was the final day of that, and at the same time it was the final day of all 12 performances that were realized in the 1970s. This work contains the pattern in two types of records. Let’s introduce each one individually.

[DISC 1-2: First appearance full audience recording] The main part of this work is a two-disc full live album. This is an audience recording that will be released for the first time in the world. We have introduced the masterpiece “DRIVING ME WILD (Darker Than Blue 124/125)” so far, but this work is completely different. It’s not a mastering difference or a gene difference, it’s a completely different recording.
It’s surprising just to be excavated after 45 years, but I was surprised twice because the sound is also excellent. Does it exceed that masterpiece “DRIVING ME WILD”? I’m at a loss when asked, but there is no doubt that they will line up. When you close your eyes, the octagonal space is proud of the reality that you can see in your eyes, but the core that penetrates the center is solid, and it conveys the details beautifully.
And above all, freshness. It was digitized directly from the master, who was handed over directly by the recorder himself, but it has been a secret treasure for many years. Perhaps the fact that the official live board was released also had an effect, but it seems that it has never been traded. Of course, it is a source without dubbing, no deterioration over time or fine dust is found, and a fresh sound that makes you think that it has never been played for 75 years !? overflows.
The complete recording that was so stable in the audience seats in 1975 is valuable in itself. The full version of the sound board has already been officially released, and it is our second work as an audience recording. Therefore, the permanent preservation press was postponed, but it is a new excavation that will be a cultural heritage class.

[DISC 3: Pro shot film different from the official version] DISC 3 following such a full live album is a multi-camera pro shot of the same show. Speaking of professional shots of the day, it is also known for official products such as VHS release “RISES OVER JAPAN” and DVD “PHOENIX RISING”, but this work is a different version from both. This is the original film version that was also used in film concerts. This version became very popular as the press DVD “RISES OVER JAPAN: The Original Film Edition” at our shop, but it is already sold out and out of print. We have omitted the bonuses from different times and reprinted them here.
The content is still vivid. The image quality that has not undergone digital processing is vivid and has a full historical mood, including the graininess of the film. More than that is the difference from the official. The song order is different from the VHS version that started with “Smoke On The Water”, but it is also different from the “PHOENIX RISING” version with the song order corrected. In the official DVD, the familiar title screen with the Rising Sun Flag as a motif will be the image of the venue immediately, but in this work, credits such as “A TONY KLINGER FILM” and “Edited by Clive Smith” are lined up like a movie.
Furthermore, even after the main part live started, if the cut split was different, the voice would be different. First, cut split. It’s not a completely different thing, but one-shot is longer than the official one. The overall image is the same as “this work = foundation ← official DVD = insert another cut”. The easy-to-understand place is the keyboard solo of “Burn”. In this work, it is mostly shown in Glen’s video, but in the official DVD, John’s up is inserted. In addition, Ian’s image is mixed for a moment according to the drum fill, and the taste of the multi-camera is emphasized more (However, since the inserted image of the official version does not show at hand, I think that it will be diverted from other scenes as well. You can …).
The more different thing is the voice. This is completely different. Not the tone level, but the mix is ​​completely different, and this work is more vivid. Another interesting thing is that some of Coverdale’s shouts to match the performance are missing. Did he remove the vocal track in the mix, or did he bring in a shout that wasn’t related to the official version … The biggest difference is between songs. Since it is an excerpt of only 5 songs, it is connected by editing, but the connection method is completely different, and the MC and the scale are completely different.

Nippon Budokan in 1975, which is also a symbol of the 4th period. It is a luxurious set with the first public audience recording that you can enjoy the scene with the special seat sound and the original film different from the official product. A 3-disc set that brings back the familiar show. Please enjoy this work to your heart’s content on a historic night.

70年代最後の日本公演にして、暴動事件以来３年ぶりとなった1975年の武道館。その初登場オリジナル音源と貴重映像の豪華セットが登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは、もちろん「1975年12月15日：日本武道館」公演。その新発掘オーディエンス録音をDISC 1-2に、マルチカメラ・プロショットをDISC 3に配した３枚組です。当店ではたった一度きりの第４期来日も数々の傑作でアーカイヴしてきました。まずは、当時の日程でコレクションを整理しつつ、ショウのポジションを確かめておきましょう。

以上、全４公演。日本武道館はその最終日であり、同時に70年代に実現した全12公演目の最終日でもありました。本作はその模様を２種の記録で封じ込めたもの。早速、それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。

【DISC 1-2：初登場のフル・オーディエンス録音】
本作のメインとなるのは、２枚組のフル・ライヴアルバム。全世界初公開となるオーディエンス録音です。当店ではこれまでも名盤『DRIVING ME WILD（Darker Than Blue 124/125）』をご紹介してきましたが、本作はまったくの別物。マスタリング違いでもジェネ違いでもなく、完全な別録音です。
45年を経て発掘されただけでも驚きですが、そのサウンドも絶品だから二度びっくり。さすがにあの名作『DRIVING ME WILD』を超えるか？と問われると迷うところですが、並び立つのは間違いない。目を閉じれば八角形の空間が目に浮かぶリアリティを誇りつつ、そのド真ん中を貫く芯がしっかりとしていて、ディテールまで綺麗に伝えてくれるのです。
そして何より、鮮度。録音家本人から直接譲られたマスターからダイレクトにデジタル化されているのですが、長年に渡って門外不出の秘宝だった。恐らく公式ライヴ盤が出た事も影響したのでしょうが、これまで一度もトレードにも出したことがないそう。もちろんダビングなしの大元ですし、経年劣化も微塵も見当たらず、75年間一度も再生してない!?と思わせる瑞々しいサウンドが溢れ出すのです。
1975年の客席でここまで安定した完全収録はそれ自体が貴重。すでに完全版サウンドボードが公式リリースされていますし、オーディエンス録音としても当店２作目。そのため永久保存プレス化は見送られましたが、文化遺産級となる新発掘なのです。

【DISC 3：公式版とは異なるプロショット・フィルム】
そんなフル・ライヴアルバムに続くDISC 3は、同じショウのマルチカメラ・プロショットです。この日のプロショットと言えば、VHSリリースの『RISES OVER JAPAN』やDVD『PHOENIX RISING』などの公式品でも知られますが、本作はそのどちらとも異なるバージョン。フィルム・コンサート等でも使用されたオリジナル・フィルム版です。当店ではプレスDVD『RISES OVER JAPAN : The Original Film Edition』として大人気となったバージョンですが、すでに完売・廃盤。時期の異なるボーナス類を省略し、ここに復刻致しました。
その内容は今なお鮮烈。デジタル処理を経ていない画質はフィルムの粒子感まで鮮やかでヒストリカル・ムード満点。それ以上なのがオフィシャルとの違い。「Smoke On The Water」から始まっていたVHS版とは曲順から違っているのですが、実は曲順が直された『PHOENIX RISING』版とも異なる。公式DVDでは旭日旗をモチーフにしたお馴染みのタイトル画面からすぐ会場の映像になりますが、本作では映画らしく「A TONY KLINGER FILM」「Edited by Clive Smith」などのクレジットが並ぶ。
さらに本編ライヴが始まってからもカット割りも違えば、音声も異なる。まずカット割り。丸っきり別物と言うほどではないのですが、公式よりもワンカットが長め。全体としてのイメージでは「本作＝土台←公式DVD＝別カットを挿入」という同じ。分かりやすいところですと「Burn」のキーボード・ソロ。本作ではほぼグレンの映像で通されていますが、公式DVDではジョンのアップを挿入。他にもドラムのフィルに合わせてイアンの映像が一瞬混じったりと、よりマルチカメラの旨みが強調されているのです（ただ、公式版の挿入映像も手元が映らないので他シーンからも転用考えられますが……）。
もっと違うのは音声。これはもう完全に別物。音色レベルではなく、ミックスも完全に違っていて本作はより生々しい。あと面白いのが演奏に合わせたカヴァデールのかけ声がいくつか欠けていること。仮ミックスでヴォーカル・トラックを外していたのか、それとも公式版が関係ないシャウトを他から持ってきているのか……。さらにさらに大違いなのが曲間。５曲だけの抜粋なので編集で繋げているわけですが、その繋ぎ方がまったく異なり、MCも尺も全然違うのです。

第４期の象徴でもある1975年の日本武道館。その現場を特等席サウンドで味わえる初公開オーディエンス録音と、公式品と異なるオリジナル・フィルムによる豪華セットです。お馴染みなショウが新鮮に甦る３枚組。歴史的な夜、どうぞ本作で存分に味わい直してください。
