Speaking of this November 7th Winterland performance, the nostalgic missing link board and IQ label are representative boards, and even in the 2000s there was a coupling title with the TCOLZ board performance on the 6th the day before. , The release itself was not so many. Compared to the performance on the 6th, where there are multiple sound sources as it is, the live performance is not so sunny due to the slightly maniac monaural sound that is slightly humorous and inferior in separation, and the recorded content with many curl cuts. It seems that it is.

However, I was really surprised at the new sound source that appeared this time. It was said that it was woken up directly from the master cassette, so I was first surprised that it was a valuable stereo recording as an Aud sound source in 1969, and the sound was quite close and the freshness was outstanding, and as long as I listened to it, it was a supermarket without complaint. sound. Even more surprising was the last recorded “Bring It”, which was of course the first appearance in 1969, and the oldest existing performance record in history has been updated.
It was a superb stereo audience recording to which the fixed phrase of the crest type, “Why was such a great sound source sleeping until now?”

This time, this new stereo sound source is mainly recorded on the 1st and 2nd discs. The two missing parts are patched with the existing monaural sound source to realize the longest board at present. The 3rd and 4th albums will be the definitive edition of the November 7th Winterland performance with the existing monaural sound source remastered as a bonus recording (no compensation for the 3rd and 4th albums).
The 1st and 2nd parts are recorded in the best condition at present, with phase correction and slight EQ processing. Due to the phase correction, the performance localization that was slightly to the left has been slightly improved. In addition, the EQ is slightly better without overdoing it, and the overall tone is slightly brighter.

There are two places to make up for the omissions, near the end of “White Summer” (about 20 seconds) and from the beginning to the middle of “Moby” (less than 11 minutes). Regarding “Moby”, the parts patched with the monaural sound source were released again by DoD, which released the original sound source, but the pitch was slow there, and at the first joint, the joint from the stereo sound source to the mono sound source. However, the patch processing was sloppy, which suddenly changed, so instead of that, the label’s own polite and smooth compensation processing was done again, and the difference is clear. Around 12:07 CD time of “Moby” (where the mono sound source finishes supplementing), the stereo sound source suddenly cuts in after the mono sound source is cut out, but only this part is the only performance that cannot be complemented by both sound sources. It will be a missing part.
Also, the compensation for about 20 seconds near the end of “White Summer” is probably because it was neglected even in DoD, so far it is a missing compensation part that was done only on the main board, and this is also polite and smooth like this label. Compensation processing has been done.
In addition, at the beginning of the first piece, the fragment performance of Isaac Hayes that was included at the time of release is also recorded as it is.

The 3rd and 4th sheets are bonus recordings of existing monaural sound sources with the latest remaster. The sound source was also used to supplement the first and second sheets, but as you can see from the compensation points, the difference in sound quality is undeniable in terms of separation and freshness. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s a sound source that is neglected. This sound source, first of all, the performance itself is actually quite close, the guitar and bass are quite on, and on the contrary, the vocal is a little far away, it is a slightly quirky monaural sound, but thanks to the recording with a narrow range and a narrow band. And depending on how you listen to it, it sounds like “AM Radio Soundboard Live”, so it’s really interesting. Moreover, depending on the location, the guitar, bass, and vocal phrases may be easier to hear than the new wide-range stereo source, so it will not be possible to make it even more sloppy.
In this recording, pitch and phase corrections and EQ processing have been applied, and of course it does not reach the main stereo new source, but it is the sound that can be said to be the best as this mono sound source at present. Since it is a sound source with many curl cuts and omissions, and because “Bring It” was originally an unrecorded sound source, it is not compensated here and is recorded as a monaural sound source alone.

’69年秋の北米ツアーから驚異的な高音質ステレオ新音源が登場！
少し前に話題となったアトランタ・ポップフェス’69を公開した「DoD」により公開された、これまた驚きの新音源！

この11月7日ウインターランド公演といえば、懐かしのミッシングリンク盤やIQレーベルなどが代表盤であり、2000年代に入ってからもTCOLZ盤による前日6日公演とのカップリング・タイトルがありましたが、リリースそのものはあまり多いとは言えない状況でした。音もそれなりで複数音源が存在する6日公演に比べると、コモリ気味で分離度に劣る若干マニアックなモノラル・サウンドと、キュルルカットの多い収録内容から、あまり日の当たらないライブとなってしまったのだと思われます。

がしかし、今回登場した新音源にはホントにビックリ。マスターカセットからダイレクトに起こされたとのことで、’69年のAud音源としては貴重なステレオ録音であることにまず驚きますし、しかも音はかなり近く鮮度も抜群で、一聴するかぎり文句なしのスーパーサウンド。さらに驚いたのが最後に収録された「Bring It」で、’69年ものとしてはもちろん初登場であり、現存する史上最古の演奏記録がこれで更新されました。
「なんでこんな凄い音源が今まで眠っていたのか」、という紋切り型の定型文がそのまま当てはまる極上ステレオ・オーディエンス録音だったのでした。

今回は、Disc1-2枚目にこの新ステレオ音源をメインに収録。欠落部2箇所を既存のモノラル音源でパッチし現状最長盤を実現。3-4枚目にはその既存のモノラル音源をリマスターでボーナス収録(3,4枚目の補填はなし)した11月7日ウインターランド公演の決定盤となります。
1-2枚目の部分は位相の修正とわずかながらEQ処理がなされ、現状ベストの状態で収録。位相修正により若干左寄りだった演奏定位がわずかに改善されています。またEQはやり過ぎない範囲で若干抜けがよくなり、全体の音色もわずかながら明るめになっております。

欠落の補填は2箇所で、「White Summer」終盤付近(20秒ほど)と「モビー」の序盤から中盤にかけて(11分弱)になります。「モビー」に関しては元々の音源を公開したDoDによりモノラル音源でパッチしたパーツが改めて公開されたのですが、そこではピッチが遅めで、しかも最初の繋ぎ目ではステレオ音源からモノ音源への繋ぎ目が突然切り替わるずさんなパッチ処理がなされていたため、本盤ではそれではなく、改めてレーベル独自に丁寧でスムーズな補填処理がなされており、その差は歴然。「モビー」CDタイム12:07付近(モノ音源での補填が終わる箇所)は、モノ音源がカットアウト後にステレオ音源が唐突にカットインしますが、この箇所のみ両方の音源で補完できない唯一の演奏欠落箇所となります。
また「White Summer」終盤付近の20秒ほどの補填は、DoDでもおざなりにされてしまったためか、今のところ本盤のみで施された欠落補填箇所であり、ここも本レーベルらしく丁寧でスムーズな補填処理がなされております。
なお、1枚目冒頭には公開時に同梱されていたアイザック・ヘイズの断片演奏もそのまま収録されています。

3-4枚目は既存のモノラル音源を最新リマスターでボーナス収録。1、2枚目の補填にも使用された音源ですが、その補填箇所を聞くと分かるとおり、分離・鮮度においてその音質差は否めないところです。しかし、だからと言って決しておざなりにされる音源でもない。この音源、まず演奏そのものは実際はかなり近く、ギターとベースがかなりオンで反対にボーカルが若干遠目の、ちょっと癖のあるモノラル・サウンドなのですが、レンジも狭めで思い切り帯域が絞られた録音のお陰で、聞きようによっては「AMラジオのサウンドボード・ライブ」のようにも聞こえるから実に面白い。しかも場所によってはギターやベース、ボーカルのフレーズがワイドレンジな本編のステレオ新ソースよりも聞き取りやすい場面もあったりするものだから、ますますおざなりには出来ないでしょう。
今回の収録にあたってはピッチや位相の修正、EQ処理が施され、当然メインのステレオ新ソースには及びませんが、当モノ音源としては現状ベストと言えるサウンドとなっております。キュルルカットや欠落の多い音源であるため、また元々「Bring It」は未収録の音源であったため、ここでは補填はなされずモノラル音源単体での収録となっております。
