Gary Moore of 1984 who challenged the whole world by mastering his own hard rock with the masterpiece “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE”. Introducing a new excavation live album where you can experience the highlight performance with a thick sound.
The highlight performance is “August 18, 1984 Donington performance”. This is a super-strong audience recording when he appeared in the home country version of “MONSTERS OF ROCK”, which was the biggest HR / HM festival in the UK. Recently, the masterpiece of MOR in 1984 has become a release rush, and this work is also a part of it. Although the show itself has been reported as part of the compilation title “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1984 VOL.1 (Shades 770)”, this work is a completely different recording from that 5-disc set.
The position of the show before the quality you care about. Gary at that time was in the middle of “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE Tour”, and the official works “WE WANT MOORE!” And “EMERALD AISLES” were also produced with small changes in members. In terms of organizing the situation in that area, let’s first look back at the tour outline.
・ January 16-February 17: UK # 1 (13 performances) ← * WE WANT MOORE!
・ February 24-29: Japan (5 performances) ← * WE WANT MOORE!
・ March 10-30: Europe # 1 (17 performances)
《DRUMS: Ian Paice → Bobby Chounard change》
・ May 8-July 7: North America (39 performances) ← * WE WANT MOORE!
《DRUMS: Choonard → Paul Thompson change》
・ August 15-September 2: Europe # 2 (6 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
《November production of “Out In The Fields”》
《BASS: Craig Gruber → Bob Daisley change》
・ December 12-20: UK # 2 / Ireland (5 performances) ← * EMERALD AISLES
This is Gary Moore in 1984. “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE” itself was released in December 1983, but the tour started after the new year. The main battlefield was Europe to the last, but in fact this year’s North American tour was the biggest in Gary’s solo career. The Donington performance of this work was the second performance of “Europe # 2” that came back from such a serious invasion of the United States. By the way, after this mini tour, he started producing the single “Out In The Fields” with Phil Lynott and the video work “EMERALD AISLES” of his home country tour. In other words, what is permanently preserved in this work is also Gary, who is on the verge of opening his eyes to Irish rock.
[Extremely powerful audience recording] This work recorded at such a show is a powerful audience who gets drunk with the shock of being hit in the head. I’m sure many of you have already come to this point, but these days, it’s one of the “G.Mann” collections, which has been producing masterpieces related to “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1984”. Probably, I think that the microphone is pointed directly at the PA tower in the venue, but there is no sense of distance in the sound that is ringing right there, and there is no reverberation component because it is outdoors without walls or ceilings. If the outline of the fierce performance sound is sharp and the bass is rugged, the drum is three-dimensional enough to make the structure of the kit come to mind. And above all, a guitar that squeaks and screams! This is already super and intense. It is natural that each machine gun picking is vivid, and each grain has a metallic luster, which attacks at a ridiculous speed. When I think so, the screaming arming and the choking that seems to tear the strings are tremendously powerful. At this point, it’s not a phrase or a tone. Surprisingly, “Guitar is such a thing that” sounds “.” I’ve dealt with countless records of many rock guitarists, but I think Gary is playing a completely different monster instrument.
To be honest, this work does not suit expressions such as “neat” and “beautiful”. It specializes in direct feeling and power, and in that sense it cannot be said to have a high degree of perfection. However, such a thing is “shit eating”. Is there any other music that makes the guitar so much, crying, and barking, or is there a music board where you can experience its power? When I play it thinking, “Well, do you want to listen to Gary’s live version?”, I was surprised by the unknown musical sensation and my brain was agitated … It’s such a shocking music experience board. [Impact board that is both HR and [unknown music experience]] The sound was so great, the screw was blown off by the great guitar, but objectively speaking, this work is Gary’s live album. It is one that you can fully enjoy the famous songs of the HR era. Let me introduce the repertoire here.
● Great ambition
・ Rockin’Every Night (★) / Wishing Well (★) / Cold Hearted
● Victims of the Future
・ Murder In The Skies / Shapes Of Things / Victims Of The Future / Empty Rooms
● Others
・ Back on the Streets: Parisienne Walkways
・ White Knuckles / Rockin’And Rollin'(★)
・ Others: Majestuso E Virtuoso
* Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard in “WE WANT MOORE!”.
… And it looks like this. Roughly speaking, it’s a set like adding two pieces of “ROCKIN’EVERY NIGHT” and “WE WANT MOORE!” And dividing by two, but I don’t feel that the intensity of the performance is divided at all. A very thick hard rock like a thick extract on a drodro that is about to be boiled down and turned into powder. It’s refreshing to know what I’m writing, but it’s a series of hard rock and powerful guitars with explosive tension that pulls out such delusions from my brain one after another.
Anyway, a ridiculously powerful sound and a torn guitar. However, unlike hardcore and grunge, which tend to collapse immediately, the dynamism unique to hard rock, which does not break the music due to the rigidity of steel, is struck. It is a new experience album that is full of charm of “Hard Rockin Gary”, but is hit by “the impact of music” that transcends that dimension. Sound and rock that can only be experienced in this work, not whether it is a sound board or an audience. Please use the permanent storage press CD to your heart’s content!
★ Super strong audience recording of “August 18, 1984 Donington performance”. One of the much-talked-about “G.Mann” collections, the core is super thick and sticks tightly. There is no sense of distance, and there is no reverberation component because it is outdoors without walls or ceilings. Especially the guitar is super and intense. It is natural that each machine gun picking is vivid, and each grain has a metallic luster, which attacks at a ridiculous speed. When I think so, the screaming arming and the choking that seems to tear the strings are tremendously powerful. You can fully experience the super-famous performance of “Hard Rockin Gary” with a surprisingly different dimension sound, “Guitar is such a thing that” sounds “so far.”

The main press CD is a new experience board where you can take Gary’s guitar with a super-powerful sound that goes beyond “audience or sound board”. However, no matter how shocking the sound is, the live album is a live album no matter how far you go, and you can’t expect a “scene”. Therefore, only in the first week of the release, we have prepared a large standard video that you can witness Gary in 1984.
This work was filmed at “January 16, 1984 Chippenham Performance”. As you can see from the schedule of the main story, it is a multi-camera pro shot that was recorded on the first day performance of Lee in 1984 and was broadcast on the famous program “Sight and Sound”. This video is a big classic that reigns as a symbol of the “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE” era, but this work is the highest peak master of “Western music live legend” in 2009 known as the longest broadcast among them. At our shop, we are the best master of domestic core record enthusiasts and archive many music programs, and this work is one of them. In particular, this work is a digital rebroadcast version of 2009, so it is the ultimate one that was transferred from the song master to DVD with zero deterioration.
Of course, the quality is “completely official grade” without any questions. It is a dimension that can not be helped even if it says four or five. That alone is a must-have and must-see, but quality is not the only thing that makes this work the best. The length of this video varies depending on the broadcast, and the standard version of the conventional version is 5 songs for about 30 minutes. On the other hand, this work is an extended version of 8 songs, about 45 minutes, with “Victims Of The Future”, “White Knuckles” and “Back On The Streets” added. Let’s organize the contents of all 7 songs here.
・ Back On The Streets (★)
・ G-FORCE: White Knuckles
・ Great Ambition: Rockin’Every Night / End Of The World (★)
・ Victims of the Future: Shapes Of Things / Hold On To Love (★) / Victims Of The Future / Empty Rooms
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that cannot be heard on the main press CD “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1984”.
… And it looks like this. And the performance is also wonderful. After all, this show is the first live after the release of “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE”. That’s why it has a fresh kick-off spirit, and it’s a worldwide premiere with no two familiar masterpieces such as “Shapes Of Things,” “Victims Of The Future,” and “Empty Rooms.” And the most delicious of them is “Hold On To Love”. Of course, this song will also be premiered all over the world, but it was performed only in a limited show in “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE Tour”, and it was not taken up at all in the subsequent tours. It’s a very rare song because it’s the first day of the tour to try out new songs, and you can enjoy it with a completely official professional shot.
For the main press CD where you can experience the highlight performance on-site with transcendent sound, this is a completely official grade work that can be said to be the video version of “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE”. A gorgeous set where you can enjoy the two symbolic performances of “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE Tour” with the highest quality, while having a completely different personality. Please enjoy this opportunity as well.
それに対し、本作は「Victims Of The Future」「White Knuckles」「Back On The Streets」も追加された8曲・約45分の拡張版なのです。
