Mike Millard’s original master excavation business continues to shake the enthusiasts of the world. The latest work is Tom Petty in 1990, who became a breakthrough with the astronomical hit of his first solo album “FULL MOON FEVER”.
This work was recorded in the “Costa Mesa Performance on March 3, 1990”. It is a super-high-end audience recording. ELO’s Jeff Lin was featured on the album, but on the tour he set out on the road with the regular THE HEARTBREAKERS. First, let’s check the show position from the schedule.

● 1989
“Released” FULL MOON FEVER “on April 24th”
・ July 5th-September 13th: North America # 1 (45 performances)
・ October 28: BRIDGE SCHOOL BENEFIT appearance
● 1990
・ January 26th-March 6th: North America # 2 (26 performances) ← ★ here ★
・ May 18: Wilmington performance

This is Tom Petty in 1989/1990. The tour is divided into two, the summer of 1989 immediately after the album’s release and the beginning of the following 1990, and the Costa Mesa performance of this work is the latter. It was the 24th performance of “North America # 2”.
Recorded at such a show, this work is a beautiful recording of unprecedented moments where the heart trembles with the splendor of mirrored recording and the breath does not stop. Speaking of Costa Mesa in 1990, Linda Ronstadt’s “COSTA MESA 1990 (Uxbridge 1224)” was also highly acclaimed the other day, but this work is also a mirrored recording of the same venue. The cheerful cheers are definitely audience recordings, but the direct feeling of the core, the detailed vibration level of the strings and skin, the sense of stability that does not cause chattering or distortion … everything is nonstandard. In a word, it would be “an official work”, but if you put it away, it would be rude to record. Although it is clearly a guest record, it is obviously more beautiful than the official work. The point is that the luster of the sound that can not be said to be profitable. It does not create a sense of distance in the core, does not allow the details to cloud over with dust, and yet is sweet to the touch. The beauty of audience recording, the magic of mirrored recording. The original masters of legendary recordings have been hitting lately, but even in that collection, it’s a world of beautiful sounds.
▽ Anyway, what is drawn with an abnormal beautiful sound is a full show that boiled with a big hit of “FULL MOON FEVER”. Now let’s organize the contents.

● TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS name song (12 songs)
・ American Girl: Breakdown
・ Your Gonna Get It !: Listen To Her Heart
・ Destroy: What Are You Doin ‘In My Life? / Refugee / Don’t Do Me Like That / Even The Losers
・ Hard Promise: The Waiting
・ Long After Dark: You Got Lucky / Straight Into Darkness
・ Southern Accents: Don’t Come Around Here No More / Rebels
Let Me Up: How Many More Days
● Solo name songs (8 songs)
・ FULL MOON FEVER: Love Is A Long Road / A Mind With A Heart Of Its Own / I Won’t Back Down / Free Fallin ‘/ A Face In The Crowd / Alright For Now / Yer So Bad / Runnin’ Down A Dream
● Covers (7 songs)
-Down The Road Apiece (WILL BRADLEY TRIO) / Lonely Weekends (Charlie Rich) / Something In The Air (THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN) / Mr. Tambourine Man (★: Bob Dylan) / Turn! Turn! Turn! (★: THE BYRDS) / Eight Miles High (★ : THE BYRDS) / Ben’s Boogie
* Note: The “★” mark is a joint performance with Roger McGin.

… And this is how it looks. While the traditional classics also behaved in a big way, the core is the “FULL MOON FEVER” repertoire. While the major songs are lined up in a row, rare songs such as “What Are You Doin ‘In My Life?”, “Straight Into Darkness”, “How Many More Days” are spices, and the variety is very rich. Especially, the new song “A Mind With A Heart Of Its Own” is a valuable masterpiece that is only played on this tour.
▽ Many more valuable covers. “Down The Road Apiece,” which was a limited repertoire only for this tour, is also delicious, but the biggest point is the guest performance. At this show, that Roger McGin appeared. You can enjoy co-starring with 3 songs. Roger appears in the middle of the show (at the beginning of DISC 2) and plays Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man.” As it is, THE BYRDS’s “Turn! Turn! Turn!” And “Eight Miles High” are also co-starring. Especially “Mr. Tambourine Man” is definitely the highlight of this work!
Only such a show is delicious, but it is amazing because the feeling of the scene is wonderful. What is even more wonderful is the sense of the scene. Even though the singing voice and the guitar are glossy, the cheering that flies around is strangely “live”, and the spine is thrilled by the contrast between the beautiful sound of the world and the cheerful cheers. I’ll be careful not to misunderstand, but in this work, the performance sound is great, but the cheering that is flying around is unwilling. It explodes in the intro of the hit song, converges on the melody on the bridge, and becomes a thick chorus with a chorus. Not only is it a culmination of popularity, but the power of masterpieces allows the audience to control it freely. I’ve been dealing with countless records from countless bands, but I’ve never experienced such a spectacle and the real pleasure …

A block of famous songs with a transcendental quality that was overwhelmed by the collection of legendary musicians. And it’s a rare masterpiece that even unprecedented great success spectacle rushes in one go. There is no doubt about the sound and the charm of the audience, but the individuality of the audience recording is fully open, but in terms of pure audio, even the sound board and the official are overwhelming. It is said that this kind of sound can be used for spatial recording … The possibility of this is the permanent preservation press 2CD that does not stop trembling or aggravated skin. Please give it a try and experience it!

★ The sound is the best in Mike Mirrored recording.

大代表曲がズラリと並びつつ、「What Are You Doin’ In My Life?」「Straight Into Darkness」「How Many More Days」といったレア曲がスパイスになっており、非常にバラエティ豊かです。特に新曲の「A Mind With A Heart Of Its Own」は、このツアーでしか演奏してない貴重な名曲です。
Tambourine Man」を演奏。 Turn!
