「POWERSLAVE」に伴う“World Slavery Tour”が始まったのは、1984年８月。そこから丸１年後の1985年７月まで、IRON MAIDENは休みらしい休みも取らずに世界中をくまなく回りました。ライヴは約190回を数え、ステージセット・会場サイズ・ツアー規模のすべてがMAIDEN史上最大級。あらゆる意味で全盛を極めたツアーでした。メタル史上最大級のモンスターによる最大級のツアーなのですから、HEAVY METALミュージックの頂点と言っても過言ではありません。
そんな黄金期の一夜、12月19日ミルウォーキー公演を最高級サウンドで切り取ったのが本作です。その音質はまさにサウンドボード。バキバキと唸るベースからツイン・ハーモニーの美しさ、しっかりと芯の通ったバスドラまで、複雑なリフワークでも綺麗にセパレート。その見事なバランスは、当時のMAIDENスタッフの驚異的な音作りまでもアリアリと伝えてくれます。しかも、録音全体を通してクオリティが落ちないのも特筆もの。このツアーは絶対のオフィシャル名盤が君臨していますが、サウンドクオリティは“オーディエンス版『死霊復活』”のレベルです。
そんな奇跡的な録音ですが、再生ボタンを押すといきなり最大の欠点が。そう、大名曲“Aces High”の冒頭が欠けているのです（“Powerslave”の中盤にもカットあり）。惜しい、実に惜しい！　本作のプレス化にあたり、既発テープや別日程で補完することも検討されましたが、あまりの録音クオリティの高さから「欠けもドキュメントの１つとして残すべき」との結論にいたり、補完は行わないことになりました。もちろん、仮にでもショウの完全版の姿にした方が聴きやすいのですが、これだけの音が残ったという歴史スペクタクルゆえ、あえて素の姿をお届けしたかった。言い換えれば、それだけ音に説得力が溢れてもいるのです。

「死霊復活」でお馴染みの流れで進行するなか、最大の聴き所はオフィシャルにはないデイヴ・マーレイのギターソロ・タイムでしょう。バンド演奏とはまた違う、会場中に広がる独奏の響き！　この美しさこそ、本作のサウンドクオリティを端的に証明するシーンです。ソロはドラムを交えての「星条旗」へ移行し、エキゾチックなジャムへと展開。ギターのフィードバックと銅鑼によって迎えるクライマックス！
オルガズム状態で沸き立つ会場に、忍び込むように語りかけるモノローグは……ヨハネの黙示録第13章18節。そう、“The Number Of The Beast”です！　この劇的なシーン、なぜ「死霊復活」はカットしたのかっ!?　有名なイントロリフからディッキンソンの雄叫びの波状攻撃で、絶頂から更に一段引き上げられる大観衆。この素晴らしい一瞬を、これほどのサウンドで聴ける幸せ。1985年の来日から27年、ずっとMAIDENを好きでいて良かった……。
アンコールのRun To The Hills/Sactuaryでショウは終わりますが、本作にはボーナスとして、10月29日パリ公演のFM録音も収録しています。約50分の放送用編集ではありますが、本編では惜しくも欠けていたチャーチルの演説や“Powerslave”もバッチリ。ミルウォーキーでは演奏されなかった“22 Acasia Avenue”も嬉しいポイントです。こうした放送音源をボーナス収録しても、本編のオーディエンスは食われるどころか一層の輝きを増してさえいる。この事実だけでも、いかに本編の質が高いかが分かっていただけるのではないでしょうか。

本作はハイクオリティサウンドなだけでなく、パフォーマンスも「死霊復活」でお馴染みのハイパーライヴが全編炸裂しています。本当に凄いライヴを体験すると「もう一度観たい」と思うのが音楽好きの人情というもの。しかも、かのIRON MAIDENの歴史的な絶頂点なのですから、オフィシャルライヴ１本で満足しろと言うのがムリな話。その「もう一度」の夢を、たっぷり140分で叶えるのが本作なのです！
