“LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW” was the biggest live project in VAN HALEN history. The super rare promotional program is here.
Included in this work is the promotional special “LIVE SATELLITE BROADCAST” for “LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW” officially produced by Warner Bros. It is not an air check, but the ultimate quality version that is directly digitized from the rare official promo VHS.
I suddenly tried to confuse it with “special number” and “promo”, but it may be difficult to imagine the contents of such promotional videos, unlike live performances and historical videos. To put it simply, it might be a good idea to imagine a documentary mini-program that is common on MTV and the like. At the time of the release of “LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW”, the contents were broadcast in digest form, and the members themselves answered questions from fans. This work is a promo VHS produced by a record company, and it is a DVD version of the original master for streaming in stores and broadcasting as it is.
This work consists of two major sections. Let’s introduce each one.

● First half: Product introduction / Q&A (about 28 minutes)
The program started from the parking lot of “5150 Studio”. In the first half, the members will answer phone questions from fans, and in between, they will play three songs “Poundcake”, “Right Now” and “Jump” that are famous scenes from “LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW”. I think that the video of “LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW” is familiar, but the question and answer session is only for this work. The sight of the recreation room (?) lined with game consoles is interesting, and the atmosphere is relaxed, with jokes being thrown around serious questions about solo activities.
After the question and answer session, the staff introduced the products. The appearance of introducing the various lineups, such as LPs, CDs, and videos, one by one, is like an unboxing video in modern times.

The second half: 5150 exploration, which is also extremely rare in the studio live (about 22 minutes)
“The first half was just a jab.” The real value of this work is in the second half. Instead of setting the stage inside the legendary studio “5150”, the members themselves will guide you inside. The inside of the studio that produced many masterpieces is also a deeply moving place, but just pick up the instruments and start the studio live! They performed two songs, “Dreams” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, and this is exactly the super rare video that can only be seen in this work. As a matter of fact, this video itself can be seen on a certain major video site, but the quality is different. Unlike the net version, which seems to have processed the deteriorated master forcibly, this work is an official VHS direct. You can literally enjoy a super valuable live with the highest quality ever of “completely official class”.
And that studio live is the coolest and most interesting. “Dreams” begins to be guided by the keyboard tape, but even though it is matched to a tape that is not raw, it overflows with phrases that are completely different from the studio take, and there is plenty of dynamism. And the surprise is Sammy Hagar. Even though he was joking just a moment ago, he roars “that voice” without even warming up. Some singers warm up like a baseball pitcher to warm up their throats, while others can sing out loud even when they get out of bed. Sammy definitely seems to be the latter. voice” comes out).

VAN HALEN史上最大のライヴ・プロジェクトだった『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』。その激レアなプロモーション番組が登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは、ワーナー・ブラザーズが公式に製作した『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』の宣伝用特番“LIVE SATELLITE BROADCAST”。それもエアチェックではなく、激レアな公式プロモVHSの現物からダイレクトにデジタル化された究極クオリティ版です。
いきなり「特番」「プロモ」と畳みかけてしまいましたが、こうした販促ビデオはライヴやヒストリー物と違って中身がイメージしづらいかも知れません。カンタンに言いますと、MTVなどにありがちなドキュメンタリーのミニ番組を想像していただけると良いかもしれません。『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』の発売に際し、内容をダイジェストで流したり、メンバー自身がファンの質問に応えたり。本作はレコード会社が製作したプロモVHSであり、このまま店頭や放送で流すための大元マスターをDVD化したものなのです。
そんな本作は大きく２つのコーナーで構成されています。それではそれぞれご紹介していきましょう。

●前半：商品紹介／Q&A（約28分）
番組は、“5150スタジオ”の駐車場からスタート。前半はメンバーがファンからの電話質問に応えていくもので、合間に『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』の名シーンを３曲「Poundcake」「Right Now」「Jump」流しています。『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』の映像はお馴染みだと思いますが、質疑応答は本作なればこそ。ゲーム機が並んだレクリエーション・ルーム（？）の光景も面白いですし、ソロ活動などシリアスな質問にもジョークを飛ばしまくる雰囲気もリラックスしています。
質疑応答の後はスタッフによる商品紹介。LPやCD、ビデオなど、多彩なラインナップを１つずつ紹介していく様子は現代で言うところの開封動画のような感じです。

●後半：スタジオ・ライヴも激レアな5150探検（約22分）
そんな前半はあくまでジャブ。本作の真価は後半にあります。舞台は伝説スタジオ“5150”内部に代わり、メンバー自身が中を案内してくれるのです。数々の名作を生み出したスタジオ内部も感慨深いところですが、そのまま楽器を手にしてスタジオ・ライヴを始める！　「Dreams」「Won’t Get Fooled Again」の２曲を披露しているのですが、これこそまさに本作だけの超・激レア映像。実のところ、この映像自体は某大手動画サイトでも観られない事もありませんが、クオリティが段違い。劣化マスターをムリヤリ加工したようなネット版とは異なり、本作はオフィシャルVHSダイレクト。文字通り「完全オフィシャル級」の史上最高クオリティで超貴重なライヴを楽しめるのです。
そして、そのスタジオ・ライヴが最高にカッコ良くも面白い。「Dreams」はキーボードのテープに導かれるように始まるのですが、生ではないテープに合わせているというのにスタジオテイクとはまるで違うフレーズが溢れ出し、躍動感もたっぷり。そしてお驚きなのがサミー・ヘイガー。ついさっきまでふざけていたというのに、ウォームアップもなしに「あの声」を轟かせる。シンガーの中には野球の投手のように入念なウォームアップでノドを作っていくタイプと起き抜けでも絶唱できるタイプがいるそうですが、サミーは間違いなく後者のようです（ついでにマイケル・アンソニーも「あの声」が出てます）。

まさに「LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW番外編」。他では観ることのできないスタジオ・ライヴを筆頭に、貴重な光景の数々を公式VHSの現物から復刻した１枚です。『LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW』の隣に置いておきたい、オフィシャル製作の秘宝映像。ぜひ、史上最高峰クオリティの本作でコレクションしてください。
