Thin Lizzy/ Gothenburg 1983 / 2CDR / Shades
Scandinavium, Gothenburg, Sweden 29th April 1983
THIN LIZZY in 1983 was trying to decorate the beauty of excellence with the young hero John Sykes. Introducing a new excavation live album where you can fully experience the scene.
It is “April 29, 1983 Gothenburg performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is a powerful audience recording. Speaking of the Sykes era, the two official live rubams “LIFE” and “BBC RADIO ONE” and the hitchin performance pro shots are famous. First, let’s grasp the position of the show while using them as a foothold.
● 1982
《September: Join John Sykes》
● 1983
・ January 26-March 3: UK # 1 (21 performances) ← * Official Hitchin video
“March 4th,” THUNDER AND LIGHTNING “released”
・ March 6-April 10: UK # 2 (24 performances) ← * Official LIFE / Dublin video
・ April 27-May 4: Europe # 1 (6 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
・ May 17-23: Japan (5 performances)
《Tour ends once》
・ August 28-September 4: Europe # 2 (4 performances) ← * Official BBC RADIO ONE
This is the process from joining John Sykes to dissolution. For us, the performance in Japan in May is a memorable place, but the performance in Gothenburg of this work was about three weeks before that. It was the third concert of “Europe # 1”.
This work recorded at such a show is a new excavation master who jumped out of the hot topic “Barrhult” collection. It seems to be the 2nd Gene Master, which is not the recording of “Barrhult” himself, but the powerful core does not feel the air at all, and although it is powerful, each twin guitar is clear. Moreover, if there is no feeling of squishy, the density is perfect, and when it becomes quiet between songs, it is so clear that even the slightest electromagnetic noise called “Gee” that is discharged from the amplifier can be seen. Since it is released as an audience recording, it may be a guest record, but it is a very thick sound with a direct feeling that you would believe if you were told “It was an FM broadcast at that time”.
The power sound is a full show of the farewell tour, which is different from the official live work. As you can see from the schedule above, the closest one is “LIFE LIVE”, so let’s organize it while comparing.
● Classics (12 songs + α)
・ Night Life: Sha La La (★) / Still In Love With You
・ Fighting !!: Suicide (★) / Rosalie (★)
・ Jailbreak: Jailbreak / Cowboy Song (★) / The Boys Are Back In Town / Emerald
・ Others: Whiskey In The Jar (★) / Dancing In The Moonlight (★) / Are You Ready / Baby Drives Me Crazy (★) / Waiting For An Alibi / Angel Of Death
● Thunder and Lightning (6 songs)
・ Thunder And Lightning / Baby Please Don’t Go / This Is The One (★) / The Holy War / The Sun Goes Down / Cold Sweat
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that could not be heard on the official version “LIFE LIVE”.
…… And it looks like this. “Whiskey In The Jar” and “Dancing In The Moonlight” are medleys from “Rosalie”, so they are not full performances, but there is a wide variety even if they are left behind. The new song “This Is The One” is a repertoire that can’t be heard on “BBC RADIO ONE”, and “Sha La La” and “Baby Drives Me Crazy” weren’t even in the pro-shot footage of the Hitchin / Dublin performances. You can enjoy the Sykes version of such a rare song with the thick sound of a sound board.
THIN LIZZY will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. The farewell tour featured a variety of masterpieces in various parts of the country, perhaps to conclude the glorious history. Not only can you fully experience the scene with a thick sound, but it is also indispensable for a rare song collection that does not have a sound board. A unique personality that is still unrivaled. Please enjoy this work to your heart’s content.
★ Extra-thick audience recording of “April 29, 1983 Gothenburg performance”. It is a newly excavated 2nd Gene Master, and its on and powerful core does not give a feeling of air, and while it is powerful, each twin guitar is clear. Moreover, if there is no squishy feeling, the density is perfect, and it is an extremely sound board-like tight sound. You can fully experience the delicious farewell tour with the Sykes version of rare songs that can not be heard in “LIFE” and “BBC RADIO ONE” such as “This Is The One”, “Sha La La” and “Baby Drives Me Crazy”.
