もはや以降の公演の良質音源とリリースは世界中のマニアにとって急務といっても過言でない状態へと陥ってしまったのですが、ツアーは後半戦へと突入。そんなストーンズ近年のツアーにおいて珍しい状況へと陥ってしまった中、ようやく限定プレスCDリリースに相応しいクオリティの極上オーディエンス録音が登場。それが7月11日のブリュッセル。会場こそ違えど1973年に稀代の名演を生み出したヨーロッパにおけるストーンズの聖地とも言える土地への帰還を果たした彼らのステージを、文字通りの極上オーディエンスで捉えてくれたファイルはその名も「A BRUSSELS AFFAIR 22」というタイトルで登場してくれました。
そんな今回のオーディエンス録音は「MUNICH 2022」をも凌ぐオンな音像とクリアネスが圧巻。掛け値なしに限定プレスCDでのリリースが相応しい。まず何と言ってもミックの歌声が近い近い。なおかつクリアー。それだけでも「STONES SIXTY」ツアー二つ目の極上オーディエンスにして、今のところツアートップであることを確信させてくれる素晴らしい録音状態。例えば「19th Nervous Breakdown」を弾きだした時のキースの音の生々しさ、あるいは今回のツアーの目玉である「Out Of Time」を歌い上げるミックの近さ。それでいて観客の合唱が左側から聞こえてくる独特のステレオ感も魅力といえ、そこは是非ともヘッドフォンで味わっていただきたいもの。
よって限定プレスCDでのリリースしかありえない音源ではあるのですが、ライブ後半の盛り上がるレパートリーが続くと周囲の手拍子を中心とした盛り上がりが耳を突く個所があるのも事実。そこをイコライズにて緩和させ、元の音源より聞きやすい状態へと生まれ変わらせています。さらには低音の存在感が目立つ録音状態を調整したことで、先に触れたボーカルやギターがさらに近くに感じらえる状態へと進化。これによって元の音源の聞きやすさがさらにアップグレードしたことは確かで、元の音源を手に入れられたマニアであれば驚かれるレベルかと。
そして演奏の方はミュンヘンから一か月後のステージということもあり、ただでさえ昨年からのスティーブ・ジョーダン加入によってタイトになった演奏の勢いがマシマシ。それこそ「19th Nervous Breakdown」の疾走感などは素晴らしいものがありますし、スティーブのドラミングで初披露となった「Bitch」は絶品。チャーリー存命時のステージでも常にグループのエンジンを「オン」にさせてくれる重要なレパートリーとなっていただけに、スティーブとの相性も抜群。ここでも曲に新たな命が吹き込まれたことを実感させてくれるのは高音質ならでは。とはいえキースのルーズさが「Connection」では際立つなど、いつものストーンズらしさ（笑）も垣間見せてくれますし、この曲になると周囲がお喋りを始めてしまうという海外ストーンズ公演にありがちな光景も捉えられています。
こうしてスティーブによって息を吹き返したレパートリーが昨年から多数披露されている訳ですが、そうした中にあってどうしても往年の演奏の域に達せなかった「Midnight Rambler」が斬新な展開を見せ始めているのはライブ中盤における聞きどころの一つ。彼もようやく本曲で往年の演奏のようにバンドを煽れるような状況へと到達し、ミックもそれに安心したかのごとく「Come On In My Kitchen」の一節を歌い出しています。そしてスティーブのドラミングの違和感が拭えなかったもう一つのレパートリーである「Start Me Up」もオリジナルのスタジオ・バージョンの雰囲気を再現しようとしている彼のプレイがしっくりき始めており、その進化も高音質ゆえに聞いていて嬉しくなる。
スマホ動画が普及している現在を反映して音源が思いのほか現れてくれない最新「STONES SIXTY」ツアーからようやく登場した第二の極上オーディエンスにして現時点でのベスト・クオリティと呼べる音源が遂に登場と相成ります。しかも今回はストーンズ・ライブにとっての聖地たるブリュッセル。となればタイトルは「BRUSSELS AFFAIR 2022」とするしかないでしょう！

This is the current “Sixty”. This week, the 9th performance “VIENNA 2022: MULTICAM” will also be released as a gift. All the performances so far have been made into multi-camera works, and it is expected that they will be completed to the end as they are.
As mentioned above, the Brussels performance has already been reported in “BRUSSELS 2022: MULTICAM”, but this work is a new version that explodes with more elaborate editing techniques. Of course, some undisputed polar materials are commonly used, but even so, switching timing and usage are different. And if you want to express that sense in one word, “more colorful”. The angles are clearly more diverse than in the previous version, and the scenes that were captured longer in one cut last time will switch from one angle to another.
The key to this is the number of materials. The shredded audience shots that form the basis of multi-camera editing will be released over time, and the types will increase. The previous version “BRUSSELS 2022: MULTICAM” was released at an unusual speed, so the number of materials was small even in the series, but this work also covers the materials that appeared after that. It’s as versatile as any other performance. What’s more, not only are the types increasing, but you can also enjoy the songs that were connected by still images in the previous version with a multi-camera.
Also, the voice used is different. It seems that it is not consistent from beginning to end because the warm color changes on the way, but the main voice is a clear and powerful sound. It is a direct type that does not create a sense of discomfort even if the viewpoint changes boldly. Moreover, even though the tone changes in the middle, it does not impair the immersive feeling because it is only a part of the song.
The editor’s sense and effort are important for multi-camera works, but more important than that is the “material”. The key to success or failure is how good the video and audio can be collected. Therefore, the later works are more advantageous, and the later works can be edited with the spirit of not being asked “now?”. なかなかプレス級の極上録音が登場しない“Sixty”において、本編プレス２CDはツアー中盤を代表する新名盤。まさに永久保存に相応しい傑作です。しかし、ライヴアルバムが素晴らしければ素晴らしいほど、“その向こう側”が見たくなるのが人情というもの。そこで、新名盤誕生を祝う特別ボーナスとして同じショウのマルチカメラ映像もご用意しました。
というわけで、本作に収められているのはプレス２CDと同じ「2022年７月11日ブリュッセル公演」。そのオーディエンス・ショットです。このショウのマルチカメラと言えば、すでにギフト・タイトル『BRUSSELS 2022: MULTICAM』がお馴染みではありますが、本作はあの映像作とはまったくの別物。別人が制作した別編集版なのです。

これが現時点の“Sixty”。今週は９公演目の『VIENNA 2022: MULTICAM』もギフト・リリース。ここまでの全公演がマルチカメラ作品化されており、このままなら最後まで完遂されそうな見通しです。
前述の通り、ブリュッセル公演も『BRUSSELS 2022: MULTICAM』でレポート済みなのですが、本作はさらに凝った編集技が炸裂する新バージョン。もちろん、誰もが認める幾つかの極素材は共通して使用されていますが、それにしてもスイッチングのタイミングも使用法も異なる。そして、そのセンスをひと言で表現するなら「よりカラフル」。前回版よりも明らかにアングルが多彩で、前回は１カットで長めに捉えていたシーンも次から次へと別アングルに切り替わっていくのです。
その要となっているのは素材数。マルチカメラ編集の基となる細切れのオーディエンス・ショットは時間が経つほど公開されていき、種類が増えていく。前回版『BRUSSELS 2022: MULTICAM』は異例とも言える早さで公開されたことでシリーズでも素材数が少なめだったのですが、本作はその後に登場した素材も網羅。他公演と同じくらい多彩になっている。しかも、単に種類が増えているだけではなく、前回版では静止画で繋いでいた曲間もマルチカメラで楽しめるのです。
また、使用されている音声も異なる。途中で温色が変わるので終始一貫ではないようですが、メイン音声はクリアでオンな強力サウンド。視点が大胆に変わっても違和感を生まないダイレクト・タイプです。しかも、途中で音色が変化するとは言っても一部の曲だけですので没入感も損ないません。
マルチカメラ作品には編集者のセンスと努力も大切ですが、それ以上に重要なのは「素材」。いかに優れた映像や音声を集められるかが成否のカギとなります。ですから後発作品ほど有利ですし、後発だこそ「今さら？」と言われまいとする気合いの入った編集にもなるのです。そんな後発の強みでグレードアップした新バージョンにして、１週間だけのボーナスにはもったいない傑作。どうぞ、本編プレス２CDと併せて存分にお楽しみください。
