Of course, the echo was suppressed by equalization, but as a result of adjusting the sound quality balance of the entire recording, it was reborn to be much easier to hear than the original state, and it was also suitable for press CD conversion. .
The sound of the video of the day that can be seen on YouTube is also enveloped in the echo, and the sound of the NRG stadium, the venue, is assumed to have such characteristics. ストーンズの最新ツアー・リリース、今週の二公演めは7月27日のヒューストン。そう、フィラデルフィア公演の次のショーです。今回リリースされる二公演はどちらも独特な味わいを持った音質が魅力なのですが、フィラデルフィアとはまた違った質感のヒューストン公演。その限定プレスCDリリースに際してはベースとなったオーディエンス録音を大幅にイコライズしています。そのネット上に現れた音源はエコーに包まれた状態で、それ自体はさしたる問題ではなかったものの、厚みを欠いたバランスが聞いていてストレスを感じさせる状態でした。そこでエコーをイコライズによって抑えたのはもちろんですが、録音全体の音質バランスも整えた結果、元の状態と比べて格段に聞きやすい状態へと生まれ変わり、なおかつプレスCD化に相応しい状態となったのです。
YouTube上で見られるこの日の動画の音声もやはりエコーに包まれており、会場となったNRGスタジアムの音響がそのような特性だと推測されます。この会場は雨天時だけでなく、今のような季節の場合はエアコンを効かせるために屋根を閉めており、それが独特なエコー感を発生させているのでしょう。それでいて演奏の輪郭がボヤボヤにならないところが2019年のオーディエンス録音らしいところで、ここにイコライズを加えた結果、文字通り一皮むけたような仕上がりとなりました。そしてアメリカのオーディエンスにありがちな騒がしさも思いのほか拾っていない点もメリットでは。
確かに「まるでサウンドボード」と形容されるような音像ではありませんが、イコライズによって一気に改善されたエコー感は嫌味のないもので、聞いているとある種の心地よさすら覚えるかもしれません。Bステージの二曲だけはさすがにミックのボーカルの輪郭が甘くなってしまうのですが、それ以外はボーカル、演奏ともに十分なクリアネスを保っている点も魅力。既に元音源を入手されたマニアも多いかと思われますが、それと聞き比べると本当に雲泥の差だと断言できる聞きやすさ。

今回のツアーらしく、この日もどっしり腰の据わった演奏でオープニングから好調。そんな中で最初の目玉となったのは「Out Of Control」。最近のツアーでは好んで演奏されてきたレパートリーですが、今回のツアーにおいては意外にも初登場。しかし最近のステージにおいて頻繁に演奏してきた曲でもありますので、その演奏ぶりは堂々たるもの。このままいくと今回のツアーでは唯一の演奏という扱いになってしまうのでしょうか。
それに続けて演奏されたこの日の投票ソングは「Heartbreaker」。マニア的にグッとくるセレクションというだけでなく、演奏もいい感じの勢いで始まっています。ところが一回目のハミングが始めるところでロニーがギターソロを弾き始めてしまい（本来ならハミングの後にソロ）、ビミョーにショートなバージョンとなってしまいました。もちろんコーラス隊は原曲の通りにハミングしており、彼らとロニーの板挟みにあってしまったミックは当然ながら困った表情を浮かべていたことが同日の動画から伺えました。この曲のミスと言えば映像でおなじみ1975年のLAフォーラムのテイクが挙げられますが、最近では珍しいハプニングかと。
そしてこの日において最高の場面と言えばメンバー紹介。ミックがいつもの流れでバンドを紹介し、そのままキース・コーナーへ突入かと思えば彼が曲を紹介する前に、前日がミックの誕生日であったことを観客に告げます。これで大歓声が巻き起こり、一旦は引っ込んでいたミックが再び現れて観客やメンバーに向かってお辞儀してみせたのです。そのタイミングがキース・コーナー直前であったことから、会場全体が「happy birthday」を合唱するほどの展開とならなかったのは惜しまれますが、それでも和やかで感動的な盛り上がりは音声からもはっきりと伝わってくる。
この場面が物語るように、ショー全体を通して非常に和やか雰囲気であり、それをエコー感の漂う独特な音質がさらに演出してくれているかのようでもある。フィラデルフィアがキースの日だとすれば、ヒューストンはミックの日。おまけに今回のツアーにおける他の音源とはまた違った音質のオーディエンス・アルバムでもある。この独特な味わいでゴキゲンなミックのバースデー・ショーをどうぞ！
