Ritchie Blackmore in 1995 broke up with DEEP PURPLE and started his own band again. On the first day of the world, an absolute work that allows you to experience a full show that performed only one extremely rare song is now available.

実際、そのサウンドは未だに超える物のない最高峰。盛大でリアルなコール＆レスポンスも吸い込んではいるものの、オンで極太な芯には距離感など微塵もなく、ディテールの細やかさもダイレクト感もFM放送ばり。90年代のオーディエンス録音では弱点になりがちな重低音も艶やか・鮮明に捉えられ、スカスカ感もなければビビリもしない。ベースのアタック音もクッキリとしていれば、それが連なって生み出すグルーヴも芳醇極まりない。もちろん、ベースは分かりやすい例でしかなく、ギターやヴォーカルの中音域も手触り級なら虚空に吸い込まれるような高音の伸びもやたらと綺麗。「録音者がコレこそ大元だ」と言ったわけではないのでShadesレーベルからのご紹介となっていますが、内容的には永久保存プレス級の大傑作なのです。

……と、このようになっています。さんざん勿体ぶって失礼しました。注目の激レア曲とは、『孤高のストレンジャー』の新曲「Stand And Fight」。当時から珍しいと話題で初日の象徴として語られてきましたが、その後26年間で（ドゥギーのソロでも）ただの一度も演奏されていない激レア曲。それをサウンドボード級の極上サウンドで体験できるのです。
もちろん、本作の聴きどころは１曲だけではありません。この日がメジャー・アクトの初舞台だったドゥギーの奮闘ぶりが全編全曲に渡って面白い。とにかく実力を証明しようとするかのようなヴォーカリゼーションが溌剌としていてハイも良く伸び、テンションもバカ高い。「Spotlight Kid」ではギターソロ前に「Ladies & Gentlemen, Ritchie Blackmore!」と叫ぶのですが、十分に格好いいものの、言葉を詰めまくって早口になってしまうところにまだまだ慣れていない感じも透ける。若者らしさ溢れる真っ直ぐなフルショウなのです。
オーディエンス録音ほど個性豊かな記録は他になく、何を求めるかも十人十色です。その中で「他とは違う初日の特別感」や「サウンドボードが残らなかった激レア曲」を求めるのであれば、本作はまさに至高。他にどれほど良い録音があろうとも、絶対に避けられない不可避のライヴアルバムです。そんな絶対の１本。どうぞ、最高峰クオリティで存分にご堪能ください。
