However, although it can be said that this title is certainly a demo sound source, it has a live, rehearsal-like atmosphere rather than an alternate version. Maybe it’s a demo made for the Lovesexy Tour. It seems that Prince gives the band members tapes of the songs he plays for practice, so it may have leaked out. Actually Cross The Line is swept in the middle of the live to bridge the first half set and the second half, but it is not included in the album Lovesexy. Coco Boys, a song not included in Lovesexy, is also included, but this is an outtake excavated at a different time and is an alternate version of the one included in the super deluxe edition of Sign of the Times. is.

There is a theory that Lovesexy Early Configuration is also a tape sound source for band members. Some of the sounds that were originally recorded, such as rhythm guitars and horns, were not included, so it was thought that those parts were gaps for other performers to play, and they wanted the members to practice on those parts. I wondered if that was the case. But this is the same pattern as Diamonds & Pearls early configuration Beginnings.

I’m very sorry that the link to Purple Town, which explains this title now, is no longer available, but to summarize the content, the CDR was before Rosie Gaines and others added the song, and it is for live use. It is not a sound source for the album. There are non-album tracks like Something Funky This House Comes and Schoolyard, but they’re outtakes. Therefore, the unplayed parts of the Lovesexy Early Configuration songs may have been vacated for Eric Ries, Miko Weaver, etc. to play and overdub later. Of course, if Prince doesn’t like their part, he can change it to his own performance instead of including it in the album. Lovesexy Early Configuration is a title that shows such a production process.

When 2r In Love was recorded in October 1987 and is included on both Black Album and Lovesexy, and the versions are the same. On the other hand, those recorded in Lovesexy Early Configuration sing about a minute longer than that version. It is said that Lovesexy’s album production began in December 1987 when the release of Black Album was cancelled. Perhaps the time is right. This is because the original song Luv Sexy of the song Lovesexy (not an album track) was created on December 14, 1987. Therefore, it can be said that When 2r In Love was considered to change the version again in order to record it in the album Lovesexy. It may be so if it is found in the literature that it was re-recorded after December 1987, but since it is only October 1987, the long version of When 2r In Love recorded in Lovesexy Early Configuration is 10 It was a full-length version that was made in the month, then edited and recorded on the Black Album, and later for Lovesexy, the full-length version was brought back again and was a candidate for recording, but in the end it was the first compilation. I think that’s how the short version was adopted. Eye No is based on The Ball, which was made during the Sign of the Times period. It was recorded on December 11, 1987, and since other Lovesexy songs were made after that, it is correct to say that Lovesexy production started in a hurry during the cancellation of the previous Black Album.

尚Lovesexy Early Configurationもバンド・メンバー用のテープ音源ではないか、という説があります。リズム・ギターやホーン等、本来収録されていそうな音が入ってなかったりするので、その部分は別の演奏者がプレイする隙間と考えられ、その部分をメンバーに練習して欲しい、と用意されたのではないか、と。しかしこれはDiamonds & Pearlsのアーリー・コンフィグレーションBeginningsがあるのですが、そのパターンと同じではないでしょうか。

現在このタイトルを説明しているPurple Townのリンク先が使えなくなっていて大変申し訳ないのですが、その内容を要約すると、そのCDRはロージー・ゲインズらが歌入れをする前のもので、ライブ用ではなくアルバム用の音源です。Something Funky This House ComesやSchoolyardのようなアルバム未収録曲がありますが、それらはアウトテイクと言えます。よってLovesexy Early Configurationの曲のプレイされていないパートは、エリック・リーズやミコ・ウィーバーらに演奏させて後でオーヴァーダビングするため空けられていたのではないでしょうか。もちろん彼らのパートをプリンスが気に入らなければアルバムに採用せず、自分の演奏に変えたりも出来ます。そういった制作過程が分かるタイトルがLovesexy Early Configurationなのです。

When 2r In Loveは87年10月にレコーディングされ、Black AlbumとLovesexyの両方に収録されている曲で、そのバージョンは一緒です。一方Lovesexy Early Configurationに収録のものはそのバージョンよりも1分程長く歌っています。Lovesexyのアルバム制作はBlack Albumのリリースがキャンセルとなった87年12月に急遽作り始めたとされています。恐らくその時期は正しいと思われます。なぜならLovesexyという曲（アルバムではなく収録曲）の原曲Luv Sexyが87年12月14日に作られているからです。よってWhen 2r In LoveはアルバムLovesexyに収録するためにもう一度バージョンを変える考慮がされたと言えます。もし87年12月以降に再レコーディングされたと文献で発見されればそうなのかもしれないですが、87年10月しかない以上、Lovesexy Early Configurationに収録のWhen 2r In Loveのロング・バージョンはその10月に作られていたフル・レングスのもので、その後Black Albumに編集して収録され、そのまた後Lovesexyのためにもう一度フル・レングスのバージョンを持ってきて収録候補となったが結局最初の編集されたショート・バージョンが採用された、そういう流れなのではないでしょうか。Eye Noがサイン・オブ・ザ・タイムズ時期に作られたThe Ballを原曲としており、もしかするとBlack AlbumとLovesexyは同時期に作られていた、そんなロマンも考えられそうですが、Eye Noとしてレコーディングされたのは87年12月11日、他のLovesexy収録曲もそれより後に作られているため、先のBlack Albumキャンセル時期に急遽Lovesexy制作を開始したというのが正しいと言えるでしょう。
