The engraving on this work is “February 22, 1981 Melbourne performance”. That stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of 1981, it was also the time when the “ZENYATTA MONDATTA Tour” and “GHOST IN THE MACHINE Tour” were being worked on, and it was a memorable place to come back to Japan. This is the outline of activities related to “ZENYATTA MONDATTA”. In the early summer of 1981, I will start working on the next work “GHOST IN THE MACHINE”, but the “Oceania” leg is just before that. In particular, the Melbourne performance of this work was the 8th performance, and it was the final concert.
It was also known that such a show was broadcast on FM, and its air check was a big standard that gave birth to many existing groups. While this work is also such a traditional FM sound board, it is the best master who updates the highest peak ever. After all, the base of this work is not an air check, but a broadcast master. It is also an item among the items digitized from the best quality board carefully selected by overseas THE POLICE researchers.
The sound is “completely official grade” without any questions. It goes without saying that there are no dubbing marks from the origin, but there is no kind of scratch noise whether the condition of the master is terrifyingly good. Perhaps he paid close attention to the digitization, and he didn’t feel any pitch deviation or uneven playback. It can be said that the freshness of the tape itself is due to the fact that it does not use radio waves at all, and because it is an LP that is resistant to deterioration over time, it can retain its original sound compared to magnetic tape. これが『ZENYATTA MONDATTA』にまつわる活動概要。1981年の初夏には次作『GHOST IN THE MACHINE』に取りかかるわけですが、「オセアニア」レッグはその直前。特に本作のメルボルン公演は８公演目であり、まさに最終盤にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウはFM放送されたことでも知られ、そのエアチェックが数々の既発群を生んできた大定番でした。本作もそんな伝統のFMサウンドボードでありつつ、過去最高峰を更新するベスト・マスターなのです。何しろ、本作のベースになっているにはエアチェックではなく、放送原盤。それも海外のTHE POLICE研究家が厳選したベスト・クオリティ盤からデジタル化された銘品中の銘品なのです。
