The latest in the popular Ultimate Archive series! Recorded live at the Ed Sullivan Theater in 1992 with the highest sound quality soundboard! “UP CLOSE” is a live electric set following the hugely successful unplugged set performed for MTV, recorded live at New York’s beautiful Ed Sullivan Theater on December 10, 1992. Speaking of “UP CLOSE”, it was only the title of Yellowcat’s boot CD “Looking For Changes” released in 1993. The CD is slow, the sound is muffled, one song is missing, and in order to record a 90-minute show on the CD, the inter-track editing was performed and it was shortened to about 77 minutes. The editing between the songs was also rough. This work became the decision board that solved these problems. The tape speed has been accurately corrected, the sound has been mastered to make it sound more natural, and all songs have been recorded with the comments cut to make it easier to listen to on a single CD. The jacket uses the UP CLOSE press kit.
It is an explanation of the contents of the live. On December 10, 1992, Paul returned to New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater where The Beatles made their historic live debut on American television on February 9, 1964. Up Close is MTV’s new show following the hugely successful Unplugged series. He appeared on Up Close to announce his new album (Off The Ground) and promote his new tour. Paul and his band (Linda, Hamish, Blair, Robbie and Wicks) performed the same show two days in a row, attracting an audience of 750 people. There are two electric sets and an acoustic set in between. The final four songs are played by Paul on a Yamaha piano. Besides nine new songs from Off The Ground (“Big Boys Bickering” was still considered part of the track list at the time), “Fixing a Hole,” “Penny Lane,” and “Michelle” have all been performed live. It contains three Beatles songs that weren’t there. Can’t Buy Me Love” is arranged in a country style, and “I Wanna Be Your Man” is arranged with an emphasis on Bo Diddley’s beat.
