Following “The Beatles: Get Back”, Paul McCartney has decided to distribute the documentary work “McCartney 3,2,1” in Japan. The latest special program that spells out the history of his glory with many famous videos is the gift release decision.
What is sealed in this work is Paul’s latest program “AT THE BBC” which was just released the other day (November 20th). As the title suggests, it is a 90-minute special program that spells out history through performances and interviews, making full use of the BBC’s treasured superb master. Writing this way seems to be similar to other documentary works, but the taste is actually different. The main character is the performance scene. From “Jet” in 1976 to “Hey Jude” in 2013, you can fully enjoy the performance of 23 songs.
Moreover, the width is wide. In addition to the familiar tours and stage live performances at festivals, there are plenty of BBC-specific program videos such as “TOP OF THE POPS”, “LATER … WITH JOOLS”, and “IN CONCERT”. It’s far more diverse and never boring than a regular concert pro shot. However, the composition is random, not chronological. Even in one program, each song is scattered in pieces, and it is played in a shape that follows the flow of the program. Then, what song can you enjoy in what era? And the interviews that are sandwiched between them cannot be underestimated. There are some reprints of the Beatles era, but the first is the latest interview in 2021. Since the British broadcast is made into a DVD as it is, it does not support subtitles, but Paul, 79 years old who has a stubble, talks passionately. The appearance itself is the best news of Paul, who is energetic even in the midst of disaster.
The documentary work that you sit down and look at is wonderful, but this work is not. It is a “moving best album” that you can relax and watch while immersing yourself in many famous songs and memories. Paul history spelled out with master quality and elegant editing that is possible only because of the prestigious BBC. Please choose the latest special program to accompany the long autumn night.

そんな本作に封じられているのは、つい先日（11月20日）に公開されたばかりのポールの最新番組“AT THE BBC”。タイトル通り、国営放送BBCの秘蔵の超極上マスターを駆使し、演奏とインタビューで歴史を綴る90分特番です。こう書くと他のドキュメンタリー作品と似ているようですが、実は趣が異なる。主役になるのは、あくまでも演奏シーン。1976年の「Jet」から2013年の「Hey Jude」まで、23曲もの演奏をたっぷり楽しめるのです。
しかも、その幅が広い。お馴染みのツアーやフェス出演のステージライヴはもちろんのこと、“TOP OF THE POPS”や“LATER… WITH JOOLS”、“IN CONCERT”など、BBCならではの名物番組映像もたっぷり。通常のコンサート・プロショットよりも遙かにバラエティ豊かで飽きないのです。ただし、構成は時系列ではなくランダム。１つの番組でも１曲ずつバラで散らされ、あくまでも番組の流れに沿ったカタチで流されます。では、どんな時代のどの曲が楽しめるのか。下記の曲では分かりづらいので、時系列で整理し直してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。どの映像もココでしか観られない！というものではありませんが、こうしてまとまっていると「目で観るベストアルバム」的に楽しめるのです。そして、合間に挟まれるインタビューも侮れない。中にはビートルズ時代の復刻映像もあったりしますが、一番は2021年の最新インタビュー。英国放送をそのままDVD化しているので字幕対応はしていませんが、無精髭を蓄えた79歳のポールが熱っぽく語っている。その姿自体が災厄のただ中でも元気なポールの何よりの便りなのです。
じっくりと腰を据えて見入るドキュメンタリー作品は素晴らしいですが、本作はそうではない。肩の力を抜いて、数々の名曲と想い出に浸りながら眺める「動くベストアルバム」なのです。名門BBCだからこそ可能なマスター・クオリティと上品な編集で綴るポール・ヒストリー。秋の夜長の供に、どうぞ最新特番の本作をお選びください。
