Young prodigy guitarist: Zakk Wylde and Sabbath’s ally: Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne in 1989 who returned to Japan with old and new partners. A video work that allows you to experience the scene from a special seat is now available.
This work was filmed at the “March 7, 1989: Fukuoka Sun Palace” performance. It is the superb view audience shot. Although the Ozzy band has produced many heroes, the tour to Japan with Zack & Geezer is the most promising candidate for the strongest era, and we have archived many masterpieces of the monumental Japan tour. . Together with the collection arrangement, let’s first look back from the schedule at that time.

A total of 7 performances. We have introduced three performances, starting with the press masterpiece “BLOODBATH IN FESTIVAL (Shades 465)”, but they are all live albums. This work will be the first video version.
And the scenery is just like a painting! I’m shooting from the second floor seat on the right side of the stage (closer to Zack) looking down, but I’m in the front row and there’s no obstruction. The stage is occupied from corner to corner of the field of vision, and you can see as much as you want to see. Moreover, the sense of stability is outstanding. I don’t know if a tripod is used or if the railing is used as a tripod (probably the former), but the image is crisp and unimaginable in freehand. Even if you zoom in boldly, camera shake does not occur, and the viewability is unshakable from beginning to end. The sound is also good. At the beginning of the performance and between songs, the loud cheers will be on the verge of excessive input and it will be chattering, but it will be clear during the performance. The feeling of the core is very thick and the separate feeling of each instrument is wonderful, and every single sound is clearly drawn as well as the stunning scenery.
A full show of “NO REST FOR THE WICKED Tour”, which is said to be the strongest of all time, is depicted with such visual beauty. Speaking of the symbol of this tour, the pro shot “PHILADELPHIA 1989” is a big classic, but the Japanese performance was about three months ago and the set was different. Let’s organize them by comparing them here.

… and it looks like this. The point is still the new song group. Zack is not only a guitar hero with a strong arm, but also a tremendously catchy riff maker, but “NO REST FOR THE WICKED” is a masterpiece whose talent exploded. In this work, you can also enjoy “Bloodbath In Paradise” and “Tattooed Dancer”, which are also lumps of famous riffs.
And the performance itself that hits such a set is amazing. Geezer spins a heavy and melodic line while violently headbanging like in the Sabbath era, and Zack, who was 22 years old at the time (!) That’s why the number of sounds is so amazing that it’s amazing, but even so, the ensemble is crisp and the groove is strong, so I’m afraid. The sharpness of the edge, the thickness of the groove, and the intensity of the action… Just looking at it makes me feel hot, and even if I concentrate only on the sound, my hands gradually sweat. There are lineups that are whispered as the strongest in each era, such as “Randy & Don Airy” and “Jake & Carmine Appice”, but I see, “Zack & Geezer” must be the rightmost candidate for the strongest.
“Prince of Darkness, who had old and new companions on both sides, exuding an unusually dignified dignity.” It is a spectacle giant that you can thoroughly immerse yourself in the performance in Japan from the special seats. Just the best video. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1989年３月７日：福岡サンパレス」公演。その絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。数々の英雄達を輩出してきたオジー・バンドではありますが、ザック＆ギーザーを従えた来日公演は最強時代の最有力候補であり、当店では記念碑的ジャパンツアーを数々の名作でアーカイヴしてきました。そのコレクション整理も併せ、まずは当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

以上、全７公演。プレス名盤『BLOODBATH IN FESTIVAL（Shades 465）』を筆頭に３公演分をご紹介してきましたが、それらはいずれもライヴアルバム。映像篇は本作が初になります。
そして、その光景は画に描いたような絶景！　ステージ右寄り（ザック寄り）の２階席から見下ろし気味に撮影しているのですが、最前列なのか遮蔽物ゼロ。視界の隅から隅までステージが占領しており、見たいところを見放題なのです。しかも、しかも安定感も抜群。三脚を使用しているのか、あるいは手すりを三脚代わりにしているのか分かりません（恐らく前者）が、フリーハンドではあり得ないビシッとした画面。果敢なズームで迫っても手ブレを起こさず、終始見やすさが揺るぎません。さらにサウンドも良い。開演時や曲間なると大歓声が過剰入力寸前でビビリ気味にもなりますが、演奏中はクリア。芯の極太感も各楽器のセパレート感も素晴らしく、見事な絶景と同じく１音１音がすべて克明に描かれるのです。
そんな映像美で画かれるのは、歴代最強とも囁かれる“NO REST FOR THE WICKED Tour”のフルショウ。このツアーの象徴と言えばプロショット『PHILADELPHIA 1989』が大定番ですが、日本公演は約３ヶ月前でセットも異なっていました。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ポイントなのはやはり新曲群。ザックは単に腕が立つギターヒーローというだけでなく、凄まじくキャッチーなリフ・メイカーでもあるわけですが、『NO REST FOR THE WICKED』はその才能が大爆発した最高傑作。本作では、名リフの塊でもある「Bloodbath In Paradise」「Tattooed Dancer」も楽しめるのです。
そして、そんなセットを叩きつける演奏そのものがスゴい。ギーザーはサバス時代よろしく激しくヘドバンしながらヘヴィ＆メロディックなラインを紡ぎ出し、当時22歳（！）だったザックも吹き出す若さに任せて一瞬も止まることなく弾き倒す。それこそ呆れるほど凄まじいまでの音数なわけですが、それでもアンサンブルはキリッと引き締まってグルーヴも強靱だから恐れ入る。エッジの鋭さ、グルーヴの太さ、そしてアクションの激しさ……見ているだけで熱くなり、音だけに集中してもじんわり手に汗が滲んでくる。「ランディ＆ドン・エイリー」や「ジェイク＆カーマイン・アピス」など、各時代に最強を囁かれるランナップはありますが、なるほど「ザック＆ギーザー」も最強候補の最右翼に違いありません。
新旧の相棒を両翼に従え、いつになく重々しい威厳を放っていたプリンス・オブ・ダークネス。その来日公演を特等席からじっくり浸りきれるスペクタクル巨編です。まさに最強映像。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください。
