From Miles Davis’ first visit to Japan in 1964, a 2CD press decision board that coupled July 12th at Hibiya Outdoor Concert Hall in Tokyo and July 15th at Maruyama Park Outdoor Concert Hall in Kyoto!

It’s a live that fans are completely familiar with, and both live shows have been released in the past, but the quality (mastering) is surprisingly difficult for the amount of releases. In recent years, the coupling 2CD titles of Tokyo and Kyoto on the mass-market half-type Domino board are known, but especially for the Tokyo performance, the high frequency is reduced due to the intense hiss, noise, and reduction that is often found in mass-market items. However, there is a digital noise called suru suru (* This Domino board, the Kyoto performance is not as bad as the Tokyo performance,,). This kind of noise reduction may not bother you in loud parts, but in quiet and delicate parts such as the beginning of “Stella By Starlight”, the effect of noise reduction is to slur, swoosh, and squish. However, the strange digital texture is annoying. Furthermore, by removing too much hiss noise, it’s almost as if you’re listening in a vacuum while wearing earplugs (?). Moreover, regarding the Tokyo performance on the 12th, there are multiple copy titles from the Domino board, so it is really a problem.

In this board, of course, it is not a copy from the existing item, but it is recorded by the latest mastering from the current best master. With the label’s unique careful and precise mastering, both days will appear for the first time with an analog-like and stable “listenable” sound!
Although easy noise reduction processing is not performed, it contains a certain amount of hiss noise component, but after band analysis, precise and well-thought-out balance adjustment was made, and while hiss was included, the balance was full of analog taste. Best ever.
Also, there is no phase shift, and it is natural that the sound image is localized in the center as if it were a monaural recording.
Accurate adjustments have been made regarding the pitch, and some tape wow flutter has also been corrected, so you can enjoy it with almost stable sound from beginning to end on both days.

Regarding the content of the recording, there is no processing like overdubbing the cheers that can be seen on some other boards regarding the Tokyo performance of Disc 1, and the announcement of the example after the performance is naturally recorded. This announcement was severely told not to enter with “listen!”. From a historical point of view, this may not be possible.

Regarding the Kyoto performance of Disc 2, there are items with a very bad introduction at the beginning, but considering the sound quality, it seems that the master used in the current main board is the best.
Also, at the end of the 5th track “All Of You” (around CD time 8:23), there is a cut on this board, but there are several already-released titles that have duplicated performances around this area, but this board is the above Although there are cuts, of course there is no duplicate recording (currently, this one cut always exists), and the best mastering is done at present.
In addition, Disc 2 is also recorded as it is, without any artificial processing such as overdubbing the cheers that can be seen on some other discs.

マイルス・デイビス’64年の初来日公演より、7月12日東京・日比谷野外音楽堂と7月15日京都円山公園野外音楽堂をカップリングした2CDプレス決定盤！

ファンにはすっかりお馴染みのライブであり、過去にも散々リリースされてきた両ライブですが、リリース量の割には意外もクオリティ(マスタリング)的に厳しいものばかり。近年では量販ハーフ系のDomino盤の東京及び京都のカップリング2CDタイトルが知られていますが、そこでは、特に東京公演については量販系アイテムにありがちな強烈なヒス・ノイズ・リダクションにより高域が減退し、シュルシュルというデジタルノイズが漂うもの(＊このDomino盤、京都公演については、東京公演ほど酷くもないのですが、、)。このようなノイズリダクションは、音量の大きな箇所では気にはならないかも知れませんが、”Stella By Starlight”序盤などの静かで繊細なパートでは、ノイズ・リダクションの影響でシュルシュル、シュイーン、パシャパシャっとした、妙なデジタル的な質感が如何せん耳障り。さらに、ヒスノイズを取りすぎたことで、あたかも耳栓をしながら真空状態で聴いてるかのような(？)、深みのない薄っぺらいサウンドが非常に聞きづらい。しかも、12日の東京公演については、そのDomino盤からのコピータイトルまで複数存在するものだから、ホント実に困ったものです。

本盤では、当然既発アイテムからのコピーではなく、現状ベストとされるマスターから最新のマスタリングにより収録されています。レーベル独自の丁寧緻密なマスタリングにより、両日とも初めてアナログ的で安定した「聴ける」サウンドで登場！
安易なノイズリダクション処理はなされていない分、ヒスノイズ成分はそれなりに含みますが、帯域分析のうえ、緻密かつ考え抜かれたバランスの調整がなされ、ヒスは含みつつもアナログ・テイストに溢れたそのバランスは過去最高。
また位相のズレもなく、センターにズッシリとモノラル録音らしく音像が定位してるのは当然のこと。
ピッチに関しても的確な調整がなされ、一部テープのワウ・フラッターも補正されており、両日も終始ほぼ安定したサウンドで、堪能頂けます。

収録内容的にも、Disc1の東京公演に関しては一部他盤で見られるような歓声をオーバーダブするような処理は当然一切なく、終演後の例のアナウンスは当然収録。「聴け!」では入れるなと散々言われたこのアナウンス。歴史的見地から、これはさすがに入れない訳にはいかないのではないでしょうか。

Disc2の京都公演については、冒頭に非常に音の悪いイントロダクションを付け足したアイテムも存在しますが、音質クオリティを考慮すると、現状本盤で使用されたマスターがベストではないかと思われます。
また、5トラック目”All Of You”終盤(CDタイム8:23付近)にて本盤ではカットがありますが、この近辺で演奏を重複収録してる既発タイトルも複数ありますが、本盤は上記カットがあるものの、当然重複収録はございません(現状この1箇所のカットは必ず存在するもの)で、現状最善のマスタリングがなされています。
なお、Disc2についても一部の他盤で見られるような、歓声をオーバーダブするような作為的な処理は一切なく、ありのままで収録。
