It is a transitional period that changes to. This quintet formation will continue throughout 1969, but the set list will gradually strengthen the rock color of “Electric Miles” from summer to winter. However, the set list as of March of this title recording still has a lot of jazz color, and among them, “On Green Dolphin Street” is a super rare that this member played only once. truck. 今回登場するのは通称ロスト・クインテットと呼ばれるマイルスの“ジャズ時代”最強のクインテットによる貴重な1969年3月のライヴ音源。この時期既にスタジオ・セッションでは『イン・ア・サイレント・ウェイ』が録られており、夏にはジャズ史上最大の問題作（大傑作です）『ビッチェズ・ブリュウ』が生まれるという所謂“エレクトリック・マイルス”へと変わって行く過渡期です。このクインテット編成は1969年いっぱいは続いていくわけですが、セット・リストは夏から冬へと徐々に“エレクトリック・マイルス”のロック色を強めていきます。しかし本タイトル収録の3月の段階でのセット・リストはまだジャズ色がかなり残っており、中でも『オン・グリーン・ドルフィン・ストリート』はこのメンバーで演奏されたのはこの一回だけという激レアトラック。演奏は非常に激しいもので、この後変わっていくであろう片鱗が随所に聴き取れます。叩きまくるデジョネットにうごめきのたうつチックのエレピは最高です。
楽曲が完全収録でなかったり音質的にもピカピカのサウンドボードとはいきませんが、現存するマスターの中では最良のものを用いリマスタリングしています。ジャズ・ファンには最果ての断崖絶壁まで来た“ジャズ”を、“エレクトリック・マイルス”ファンには創世記を体験できる貴重なアイテムです。
