This is the ongoing European Tour, and by the time this article is published, the 10th performance of Rotterdam will be over. The two works released at the same time this time are the 8th and 9th performances, and are professional shots of famous festivals representing Europe that appeared in 2 days.
In modern Europe, summer metal festivals representing each country are crowded. Speaking of “HELLFEST”, it is a famous event that represents France along with “DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL”, “SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL”, “ROCK AM RING” and so on. For that reason, it is also famous as a mass production festival for superb professional shots every time. This work is the MEGADETH version.
Actually, the quality of this work can only be called “completely official grade”. In terms of sound, it is “GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022: LIVE WEBCAST (Shades 1548)” released at the same time, but this does not mean that the sound quality is inferior, but the taste of the mix. “HELLFEST” emphasizes heavyness, and the deep bass that comes to the belly is a powerful sound. In terms of pure audio, “GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022” would be a better sound, but this work, whose music is only music, may be preferred (cymbals roaring from the deep bass). Although audio seems to have different tastes, it is the video and the number of songs that exceed the wall of taste. This is already an overwhelming victory for this work. First of all, regarding the image, the sense of camera work is unusually good. Even if Mustaine and Kiko Loureiro are up, they really capture the “moment of becoming a picture” from the “angle of becoming a picture”. Especially the heroic thing of going out in front of the stage and confronting a large crowd. Since it is a live stream, switching is also a live loss, but it is decided as if the highlights were re-edited after pre-recording. Of course, the shooting staff has a great sense, but not only that, but the goddess of the image may be smiling.
Even more wonderful is the screen. As with “GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022”, despite the appearance at high times of the day, the screen image of this work can be seen clearly! I don’t know the reason, but it is unlikely that MEGADETH improved something in one day, and probably the environment and equipment on the festival side are excellent. The look is definitely above.

これが現在進行中の欧州ツアーで、本稿が公開される頃には10公演目のロッテルダムが終了しているでしょう。今回同時リリースの２作は８公演目／９公演目にあたり、２日間で出演した欧州を代表する有名フェスのプロショットなのです。
現代のヨーロッパでは、各国を代表する夏のメタル・フェスが乱立。“HELLFEST”と言えば、“DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL”や“SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL”、“ROCK AM RING”等と並んでフランスを代表する有名イベントです。それだけに毎度・毎回、超極上プロショットの量産フェスとしても名高い。本作は、そのMEGADETH篇となるものなのです。
実際、本作のクオリティは「完全オフィシャル級」としか呼びようがない。サウンド的には同時リリースの『GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022: LIVE WEBCAST（Shades 1548）』ですが、これは音質が劣っているという意味ではなく、ミックスの趣向。“HELLFEST”はヘヴィ重視なのか、腹に来る重低音が』強烈なド迫力サウンド。純オーディオ的に言えば『GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022』の方が良い音とされるでしょうが、音楽が音楽だけにドヘヴィな本作の方が好まれるかも知れません（重低音の中から轟くシンバル類の対比ダイナミズムがえらくカッコイイです）。
音声は好みを分けそうなものの、好みの壁を超えるのが映像と曲数。これはもう、本作の圧倒的な勝利です。まず映像ですが、カメラワークのセンスが異様に良い。ムステインやキコ・ルーレイロのアップにしても実に「画になる角度」から「画になる瞬間」をビシッと捉えている。特にステージ前に出て行って大群衆と対峙する姿のヒロイックなこと……。生配信なのでスイッチングもライヴのハズなのですが、まるで事前収録した上で見どころを編集し直したかのようにビシッと決まっている。もちろん撮影スタッフのセンスが抜群なのでしょうが、それだけでなく映像の女神が微笑んでいるのかも知れません。
さらに素晴らしいのが、スクリーン。『GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022』と同じように日の高い時刻の出演にも関わらず、本作はスクリーン映像がハッキリくっきり見える！　理由はよく分かりませんが、MEGADETH側が１日で何かを改善したとは考えにくく、恐らくはフェス側の環境・機材が優れているのでしょう。見応えは確実に上です。
さらにさらに決定的なのが、ショウそのもの。夏フェスは通常コンサートより短いのがデフォですが、“HELLFEST”ではGHOST
に次ぐメインステージの準トリ出演。そのためか、『GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2022』よりも長尺な約70分セットなのです。ここで比較しながら整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。相変わらず『THE SICK, THE DYING… AND THE DEAD!』の新曲は演ってくれませんが、グラミー・アルバム『DYSTOPIA』から３曲は嬉しい。現在のMEGADETHは90年代に次ぐ「第二の黄金時代」にあり、決して懐メロバンドではない。その事実を改めて思い知らされるショウなのです（早く新曲も聴かせてくれ！）。
まさかの２作同時リリースとなった新生MEGADETH初のプロショット。どちらも必見モノではありますが、「まず１本」となったら本作しかありません。増量された『DYSTOPIA』ナンバー、美意識の高いカメラワーク、不思議なほど鮮明なスクリーン映像……見応えの塊のような１枚。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください！
