As with last year’s “LA FORUM 1975 2ND NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPE”, “Flat Transfer” and remastered “Mastered” were prepared.
The latter remastering work was done by “dadgad” as usual. Speaking of his ZEP remaster, it used to have a strong impression of “kinkin” or “flashy”, and it was rather notorious. Rather, there may even be maniacs who are ready when they hear dadgad remaster.
It’s undeniable that he’s outdated, and more than anything else, dadgad’s behavior in the past was unpopular worldwide (laughs). The approach to remastering had changed significantly.
The successful work was the previous “LA FORUM 1975 2ND NIGHT”. Dadgad’s work here is wonderful, and finally, a limited press CD release with “Flat Transfer” has been realized. He was demonstrating just how perfect the finished product was. Furthermore, it may have been a meaningful release in that his remastering work reached the next level.
Therefore, this dadgad remaster is a wonderful step up from the previous work, which showed a wonderful finish. It does not fall into the flashy finish that it used to be, but rather the bright and clear finish makes for an outstanding listening experience. As was the case last time, the remastered version of this time is very attractive for beginners, and the finish that is easy to approach is a big attraction. In the first place, the original recording state was such a spectacular sound image, so it also stands out.
Therefore, this time, instead of coupling the “Flat Transfer” and “Mastered” versions, we decided to release them independently at the same time.
This is not only because it’s easy to buy… but above all, this dadgad remaster shows a wonderful finish that can be fully realized as a stand-alone release. And thanks to his wonderful remastering, Millard’s exquisite sense of realism is all the more appealing. That’s why it’s an excellent remaster that’s easy to hear and recommended for beginners. Perfect for getting started with mirrored recording!
昨年の『LA FORUM 1975 2ND NIGHT : MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPE』の時と同じように、今回公開された1975年3月24日LAフォーラムのミラード・マスターに関しても、一切の小細工なしに収録された「Flat Transfer」とリマスターされた「Mastered」の二種類が用意されました。
後者のリマスター作業を手掛けたのは今回もおなじみ「dadgad」。彼のZEPリマスターと言えば以前は「キンキン」あるいは「派手」という印象が強く、むしろ悪名高かったと言っていいほどだったのではないでしょうか。むしろdadgadリマスターと聞いて構えてしまうマニアすらおられるのでは。
それでは時代遅れの感が否めず、何より過去のdadgadの行状が世界的に不評だったこともあってか（笑）ミラード・マスターを任されるようになってからのdadgadは改心。リマスターのアプローチが大きく変わっていたのでした。
その成功作が前回の『LA FORUM 1975 2ND NIGHT』。ここでのdadgadの仕事ぶりは見事なもので、晴れて「Flat Transfer」とセットでの限定プレスCDリリースが実現。いかに完成度の高い仕上がりを見せてくれたのかを実証してくれていたのです。さらに彼のリマスター作業がネクスト・レベルに到達したという点でも意味のあるリリースだったのではないでしょうか。
そこで今回のdadgadリマスターなのですが、あの素晴らしい仕上がりを見せた前作からさらにステップアップしてくれた見事な出来栄え。かつてのような派手な仕上がりに陥ることもなく、むしろ明るく抜けの良い仕上がりが抜群の聞き心地。前回もそうでしたが、今回のリマスター・バージョンは非常に初心者向けというか、何しろとっつきやすい仕上がりが大きな魅力。そもそも元の録音状態があのような圧巻の音像でしたので、それがまた際立つ形にも。
そこで今回は「Flat Transfer」と「Mastered」バージョンそれぞれをカップリングさせるのではなく、あえて独立した形での同時リリースと相成りました。
これは単に購入しやすいから…というだけでなく、何より今回のdadgadリマスターが単体のリリースでも十分に成立するほど見事な仕上がりを見せていたということに他ならない。それに彼による見事なリマスターのおかげでミラードならではの絶妙な臨場感の魅力もマシマシ。だからこそ、初心者におすすめしたい聞きやすさ抜群の絶品リマスター。ミラード録音の入門にも最適です！
