Big incident! A complete first appearance of a golden age soundboard that was not even known to exist until now!! Two shocking titles that are sure to shock collectors around the world will be released at the same time!
These two works are neither online releases nor upgrades. A new excavation sound source of “DYNASTY Tour” brought from its own route. This work is a long sound board recording of the second “Knoxville performance on September 12, 1979”. In order to grasp the positional relationship with “ATLANTA 1979 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 548)” which will be released at the same time, let’s first look at the overview of the tour at that time.

This is KISS in 1979. “DYNASTY Tour” was the last tour with all four originals, but the performances are all in North America, and the Knoxville performance of this work is the 6th performance of “North America # 2”. In terms of the tour as a whole, it was a concert right in the middle of 38 out of 79 performances.
“This show has been a complete mystery until now.” It was an unexplored night where no audience recording was found and even the set list was unknown. The quality of this work, which exposes such a show to the sun, is also shocking. Even if you say “sound board” in one word, there are many different personalities, but this work is a direct connection to the so-called mix table. Unlike official live albums that have been refined as music works and FM broadcasts optimized for home audio, this is an unprocessed mix for on-site PA. On the other hand, the vividness is not overwhelming, and the live performance with a very thick core reveals the subtleties of the subtleties. The guitar and bass are so clear that you can feel not only the angle of the pick that hits the string, but also the angle of the pick that hits the string, and the drums are so vivid that you can see everything from the vibration of the leather to the structure of the kit. Each one is beautifully separated with zero sense of space, and even the electromagnetic noise of the amplifier stands steeply.
In addition to such a transcendent sound, the biggest point of this work is the “long length”. It is a two-disc set where you can enjoy almost the full show of “DYNASTY Tour” which is different from “ALIVE!” And “ALIVE II”. … and it looks like this. I wrote “almost full” earlier because “Beth” is probably missing. However, this is not certain. After all, this show is a mysterious show that did not know the set list until this work was discovered. It seems that “Beth” is also doing compared to the show before and after, but there is a possibility that there was no performance itself.
At any rate, it’s about 86 minutes long, including all other songs from the show, which is by far longer than “ALIVE!” and “ALIVE II”. And there is also a group of famous songs after “ALIVE II”. Not only the new songs of “DYNASTY”, but also the 1978 solo album “Move On” and “New York Groove” are drawn with live performances by the four original KISS members.
This is a long sound board that is exactly the “continuation of ALIVE II”. 今回の２作品はネット公開でもなければ、アップグレードでもない。独自ルートからもたらされた“DYNASTY Tour”の新発掘音源。本作はその第二弾となる「1979年９月12日ノックスビル公演」の長尺サウンドボード録音です。同時リリースとなる『ATLANTA 1979 SOUNDBOARD（Zodiac 548）』との位置関係を把握するためにも、まずは当時のツアー概要から俯瞰してみましょう。

これが1979年のKISS。“DYNASTY Tour”はオリジナル４人が揃った最後のツアーだったわけですが、その公演地はすべて北米である、本作のノックスビル公演は「北米#2」の６公演目。ツアー全体でいうと全79公演中38公演というちょうど真ん中辺りのコンサートでした。
このショウはこれまで完全に謎。オーディエンス録音も発見されておらず、セットリストすら分かっていない未開の夜でした。そんなショウを白日の下にさらす本作は、クオリティも衝撃的。ひと口に「サウンドボード」と言っても個性は千差万別だったりしますが、本作はいわゆるミックス卓直結系。音楽作品として磨き込まれた公式ライヴアルバムや家庭用オーディオを考慮して最適化されたFM放送等とは違い、現場ＰＡ用の無加工ミックスそのまんま。その代わり生々しさはハンパなく、芯も極太な生演奏が機微の機微までが丸出し。ギターやベースは１音１音どころか弦に当たるピックの角度まで感じられるほど鮮明で、ドラムは皮の振動からキットの構造まで目に浮かぶほど。それぞれが空間感覚ゼロで綺麗にセパレートし、アンプの電磁ノイズまで伴って切り立っているのです。
そんな超絶サウンドに加え、本作最大のポイントなのは「長尺」。『ALIVE!』とも『ALIVE II』とも異なる“DYNASTY Tour”のほとんどフルショウを楽しめる２枚組なのです。その凄味をご理解頂く為にも、２つのオフィシャル伝統盤と比較しながらセットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。先ほど「ほぼフル」と書いたのは、恐らく「Beth」が録音漏れになっているから。ただし、これは確定ではない。何しろ、このショウは本作が発掘されるまでセットリストも分からなかった謎のショウ。前後のショウと比べると「Beth」もやっていそうですが、もしかしたら演奏自体がなかった可能性もあるのです。
ともあれ、それ以外のショウ全曲を収録した約86分に及び、『ALIVE!』『ALIVE II』よりも断然長い。そして、そこには『ALIVE II』以降の名曲群もしっかり。『DYNASTY』の新曲群はもちろん、1978年ソロ・アルバムの「Move On」「New York Groove」もオリジナルKISSの４人による生演奏で描かれるのです。
