“GRASPOP METAL MEETING” is currently the eye of typhoons in the collector’s world. The masterpiece live album will be released at once! This work is the JUDAS PRIEST version of the steel god, which is also the centerpiece.
It is “June 18, 2022 Dessel performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is a powerful audience recording when I acted as a bird on the third day of “GRASPOP METAL MEETING”. Speaking of “GRASPOP METAL MEETING”, the rush of official-grade professional shots is new to my memory, but not all performers were delivered. Currently, audience recordings of such undelivered bands are being excavated. This work is the JUDAS PRIEST version. This week, “GRASPOP METAL MEETING” IRON MAIDEN version “Shades 1563” and SAXON version “Shades 1565” will be released at the same time, but these are all sister works by the same recorder. You can fully experience the three bands that represent heavy metal in the same recorder collection.
This show is also one act of the 50th anniversary tour of the Steel God. The legs have changed from the previous report, so let’s review the whole tour once again.

This is the whole picture of the “50 HEAVY METAL YEARS Tour” that has been announced so far. This year, the long-awaited Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been decided, and it is expected that he will perform with K.K. Downing at the ceremony in November. Currently, he is touring the European summer festival that precedes it, and this work was the 9th performance of “Europe # 1”.
This work, which recorded such a show, is a famous recording that has both a direct feeling and dynamism. As mentioned above, the sound is very similar to the IRON MAIDEN / SAXON version in the same recorder collection. The tight direct feeling that seems to be outdoors with zero reverberation is wonderful, and at the same time, the thickness of the PA is drawn to the spectacle because it picks up the sound of PA to the subtleties. At the beginning “Battle Hymn”, the deep bass was too strong and chattering occurred, and the sound quality became unstable after trying to correct the setting in the following “One Shot At Glory”, but it was stable after that. You can fully enjoy the heavy metal festival with a well-balanced tight sound.
The metallic sound depicts the full show of the 50th anniversary tour, which is a bit different from the North American legs. Let’s organize the contents here.

Perhaps because it was a festival appearance, it changed to a rich set with a narrower number of songs compared to the North American leg. with this. The aim of the set is also altered. Until now, the concept was a compilation of evenly selecting from as many albums as possible, but in the European leg, popular songs are collected regardless of the album frame. So to speak, it has changed from “historical” to “greatest hits.” Of course, even under such circumstances, the symbol of the tour such as the opening of “One Shot At Glory”, the pure metallic flow of the snowfall in “Lightning Strike”, and the delicious resurrection song “Hell Patrol” are firmly maintained.
Even so, this year’s “GRASPOP METAL MEETING” was gorgeous. The metal bands who had been waiting for the scene to revive gathered to compete for the appearance frame, and performed an enthusiastic performance like shaving the ho. It was a heavy metal festival that reminded me of MONSTERS OF ROCK and ROCK POP FESTIVAL in the 1980s. This week, the live albums of the heavyweights who had a special presence but did not deliver professional shots will be released at once. ★ Powerful audience recording of “June 18, 2022 GRASPOP METAL MEETING”. The same recorder collection as IRON MAIDEN’s “Shades 1563” and SAXON’s “Shades 1565”, with a tight and dynamic name recording. Directly record the sound emitted from the PA with plenty of outdoor taste with zero echo. A very thick core with no sense of distance is recorded with a straight ball, and the details are also clear accordingly. そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2022年６月18日デッセル公演」。“GRASPOP METAL MEETING”の３日目トリを務めた際の強力オーディエンス録音です。“GRASPOP METAL MEETING”と言えばオフィシャル級プロショットのラッシュでも記憶に新しいところですが、すべての出演者が配信されたわけでもありませんでした。現在、そうした未配信バンド達のオーディエンス録音が発掘中。本作は、そのJUDAS PRIEST篇なのです。今週は“GRASPOP METAL MEETING”のIRON MAIDEN篇『Shades 1563』やSAXON篇『Shades 1565』も同時リリースとなりますが、これらはすべて同一録音家による姉妹作。同一録音家コレクションでヘヴィメタルを代表する３バンドをフル体験できるのです。
また、このショウは鋼鉄神の50周年ツアーの一幕でもある。前回レポートからレッグも変わりましたので、今一度ツアーの全体像からおさらいしてみましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている“50 HEAVY METAL YEARS Tour”の全体像。今年は悲願のロックの殿堂入りも決まり、11月のセレモニーではK.K.ダウニングとの共演も期待されています。現在はそれに先立つヨーロッパの夏フェスを巡業しており、本作はその「欧州#1」９公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウを記録した本作は、ダイレクト感とダイナミズムを併せ持った名録音。前述の通り、IRON MAIDEN篇／SAXON篇と同録音家コレクションで、サウンドも酷似。反響ゼロの野外らしいタイトなダイレクト感が素晴らしく、同時にPAの出音を機微まで拾っているからこその厚みがスペクタクルも描き出している。冒頭「Battle Hymn」で重低音が強すぎでビビリが発生し、続く「One Shot At Glory」でセッティングを修正しようとしたのか音質が不安定にもなりますが、その後は安定。バランスも整ったタイト・サウンドで重金属祭りを存分に味わえるのです。
そのメタリック・サウンドで描かれるのは、北米レッグとはひと味違う50周年ツアーのフルショウ。ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。生演奏ではなくSEとして流される「Battle Hymn」や「The Hellion」は省略しています。フェス出演ということもあってか、北米レッグに比べると曲数を絞り込んだ濃厚セットに変化しました。それに伴い。セットの狙いも変質。これまではできるだけ多くのアルバムから満遍なく選ぶ集大成コンセプトでしたが、欧州レッグではアルバム枠に拘らない人気曲を集成している。言わば、「ヒストリカル」から「グレイテスト・ヒッツ」になっているのです。もちろん、そんな中でも「One Shot At Glory」オープニングや「Lightning Strike」に雪崩れ込む純メタリックな流れ、美味しい復活曲「Hell Patrol」といったツアーの象徴はしっかりと堅持されています。
それにしても、今年の“GRASPOP METAL MEETING”は豪華でした。シーン復活を待ちに待ったメタル・バンド達が出演枠を奪い合うように集い、鎬を削るような熱演を繰り広げた。それこそ、80年代のMONSTERS OF ROCKやROCKPOP FESTIVALを思い出させるような濃厚・重厚な重金属祭りでした。今週は、その中でも格別の存在感を放っていながらプロショット配信のなかった重鎮たちのライヴアルバムが一挙大公開。どうぞ、IRON MAIDEN篇やSAXON篇と共に、世紀のメタル復活祭を思う存分現場体験してください！
