This picture has been known for a long time, but this work is not a copy of it. It is a thing that overseas mania carefully finished using Lawune Master who was discovered recently. It is an excellent piece that conveys historic nights with the highest quality ever. In fact, the beauty of this work is exquisite. The angle taken from the stand on the left side of the stage is the same as in the previous episode, but freshness with little noise or aged deterioration is another thing. Although the unnaturalness of digital processing is entirely vivid coloring, it seems that the sight at that time is exactly the same.

新たなる怪物として気を吐いていた1989年のGUNS N’ ROSES。彼らがオープニング・アクトを務めた最後の夜を収めた極上映像がギフト・リリース決定です。
ガンズと言えどもデビュー時代はさまざまなバンドの前座を務めていました。THE CULT、MOTLEY CRUE、アリス・クーパー、IRON MAIDEN、AEROSMITH……。しかし、『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』の空前の成功と共にヘッドライナーに昇格。以降、ロックの怪物としてシーンに君臨していくのです。そんな彼らが最後にオープニングを務めたのは1989年秋のこと。“STEEL WHEELS TOUR”で復活したTHE ROLLING STONESのロサンゼルス４公演でした。本作に収められているのは、その最終夜「1989年10月22日：LAコロシアム公演」です。
この映像は古くから知られていましたが、本作はそのコピーではありません。最近になって発掘されたロウジェネ・マスターを使用し、海外マニアが丁寧に仕上げたもの。歴史的な夜を過去最高峰クオリティで伝えてくれる逸品なのです。実際、本作の美しさは絶品。ステージ左側のスタンド席から撮影されたアングルは既発と同じですが、ノイズや経年劣化のほとんどない鮮度はまるで別物。デジタル加工の不自然さがまるでないのに鮮やかな発色は、まさしく当時の光景がそっくり甦るようです。
そんな光景とは逆に、最新デジタルの威力をまざまざと見せつけるのが音声。本作には３種の音声が切り替えられるようになっており、録音しっぱなしのオリジナル音声、最新マスタリングによる音声、さらに5.1chサラウンド化された音声が選択できる。もちろん、無闇やたらな迫力押しではなく、原音の鳴りを活かした美しさ。制作したマニアのセンスがギラリと光る見事な仕上がりなのです。
そのクオリティで描かれるショウこそが素晴らしい。前年までに初来日を含む“APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION WORLD TOUR”を終えているものの、ラインナップは“あの５人”。世界をひっくり返したバンド・ポテンシャルはそのままに、実際に世界中を巡った自信と大物感を身にまとっている。しかも、ワールドツアー中ではないＬＡ４公演だけの特別日程だけに流し感ゼロですし、前座ゆえの短い持ち時間だけに全力疾走が途切れない。さらに加えるなら、サポート主が復活を遂げた生ける伝説ストーンズ。アクセルは「Knockin ‘Heaven’s Door」で「カモン！　世界一偉大なロックンロールバンドのために熱くなろうぜ、THE ROLLING STONES!!」と叫びますが、その言葉に象徴されるリスペクトの気迫が全編でブチかまされる。まさに、すべての条件が見事に揃い、名演になるべくしてなった大熱演なのです。
それだけでも胸アツですが、本作だけの面白い趣向が「Move To The City」。ここではダブの兄弟マットをフィーチュアしたSUICIDE HORNS SECTIONが登場。後の“USE YOUR ILLUSION TOUR”を思い起こさせるようなホーン入りのゴージャスなアンサンブルが観られる。さらに映像ならではなのが「Rocket Queen」。途中でアクセルがダフからベースを奪ってスラッシュとジャムに突入。その間、ベースを奪われた（？）ダフは所在なげにスティーヴンのドラム・キットをコンコンと叩き始めるのです。しばらくベースを惹きながらステージを練り歩いていたアクセルは、ダフにベースを返したと思ったら今度はダフの代わりにドラムを叩き始める……。ＬＡ４公演のお約束だったのか、この日だけの気紛れだったのかは分かりませんが、このシーンは音声だけのライヴアルバムでは決して分からない。映像の現場体験だからこそ面白さです。

歴史を変えた“あの５人”のショウが極上クオリティで観られるお宝映像。それだけでもお腹いっぱいですが、さらに先達に負けまいとする気迫、特別ゲスト、さらには微笑ましい遊びまでもがたっぷりとまぶされた傑作です。ストーンズの“NO FILTER TOUR”が世界を沸かし、アクセル／スラッシュ／ダフの３人が“NOT IN THIS LIFETIME… TOUR”を再開させた2018年だからこそ、一層感慨深い１枚。どうぞ、存分にご堪能ください。
