The 1971 Concert for Bangladesh became one of the most important events in rock history, not just the most important concert activity that George performed after the Beatles disbanded. The movies and live albums produced along with it have also reigned as rock staples. As for movies, it was easily seen as a must-have item for rock fans in the video era, but it took a surprising amount of time to make it into a DVD, and it was finally realized in 2005.
It was a long-awaited release, and in the first edition, the package in the box with bonus items suitable for the release was enough to satisfy the enthusiast. Naturally, it was well received, and after that, even the regular edition that omitted these items appeared. However, it is. The items that have been waiting for so long have been discontinued in the 2010s, more than five years after their release. It is said that the DVD of such a historic live video by a former Beatles member will be out of print. On the contrary, there is no sign that the Blu-ray version will be released, let alone resale.

Under such circumstances, on-air satellite broadcasting based on DVD was realized in 2006. At that time, it was only broadcast for sale … and even if many enthusiasts saw it, the recording should have been through. However, the meaning of this broadcast has changed completely. A Bangladeshi movie that has become difficult to watch for some reason. For the time being, the subtitles have been re-subtitled for the broadcast, but I don’t feel that much difference from the 2005 version.
Although it seems that both the first edition and the regular edition DVDs are used now, it is no longer easy to get them with a premiere, more or less. Almost 15 years have passed since the release of the 2005 version, and I think there are many enthusiasts who have never seen this movie.
This title will be the savior of this situation. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the unreleased performance that was included in the bonus was not broadcast, but the main movie and the documentary made at the time of release were broadcast. It can be said that it is the most affordable item to enjoy the classic rock images that are difficult to obtain now. Naturally the image quality is perfect.

ビートルズ解散後にジョージが行ったもっとも重要なコンサート活動にとどまらず、ロック史に残る重要なイベントの一つとなった1971年のコンサート・フォー・バングラデッシュ。それに伴って生み出された映画とライブアルバムもまたロックの定番として君臨してきました。映画に関してはビデオ時代にはロックファンのマストアイテムとして手軽に見られたものですが、DVD化に関しては意外なほど時間を要し、ようやく実現したのは2005年のことでした。
それは待ちに待ったリリースであり、初回盤ではようやくのリリースに相応しいボーナス・アイテムの付いたボックスに入れられたパッケージもマニアを満足させるに十分でした。当然好評を博し、その後こうしたアイテムを省いた通常盤まで登場。ところが、です。それほどまでに待たれたアイテムもリリースから5年以上が経過した2010年代に入って本DVDは何と廃盤の憂き目に。元ビートルズのメンバーによる、これほど歴史的なライブ映像のDVDが廃盤になってしまうとは。それどころか再販はもちろん、ブルーレイ版がリリースされる気配すらありません。

そうした状況の中で2006年にはDVDを元にした衛星放送でのオンエアが実現しています。当時は売り物を放送しただけ…としか映らず、多くのマニアが見たとしても録画はスルーしていたはず。ところが、この放送も今では意味がすっかり変わってしまいました。まさかの理由から簡単には見られなくなってしまったバングラデッシュの映画。一応、放送に当たっては独自に字幕が付け直されてはいるのですが、それほど2005年版との違いは感じません。
それよりも今や初回盤と通常盤のDVD両方が中古で見かけはするものの、大なり小なりプレミアの付いた状態で気軽に手に入れられるものではなくなってしまった。そもそも2005年版のリリースからも15年近くが経過し、今やこの映画を見たことがないというマニアも少なくないのではないかと。
こうした状況の救世主となってくれるであろう本タイトル。残念ながら時間の制約もあってボーナスに収録されていた未発表パフォーマンスまでは放送されなかったのですが、映画本編とリリース時に作られたドキュメンタリーが放送されました。今となっては入手困難なロック定番映像を楽しむにはこの上なく手頃なアイテムだと言えるでしょう。当然画質は完璧です。
