It seems that there was an influence, and in the opening Blue Rainbow, Mistone can be found in Clapton, who was playing so accurately and fulfilling the day before. I want to play fast, but I get tangled. I don’t feel well. In the following Pretending, he forgot to switch on the wah pedal on his head. ON from the middle. The vocal pitch is also very unstable. It makes me nervous from the beginning, but it would be a big mistake to say that it was in a bad condition. In I Shot The Sheriff, the vocals are in great shape, and the solo of the post-play is showing off a wonderful play that can be said to be the best in the last three days. No mistones are mixed in the fast playing here. The audience also applauds this solo in the song. And Sam Hall of the acoustic set. Before the song, Clapton commented, “This song is an Irish traditional song that is sung at funerals.I will sing for Jeff.” Clapton’s feelings are hot all the time during the performance in Japan. 【調子を取り戻していく様が如実に分かる3日目公演】
さて、この3日目公演は2日目と比べてどうだったのでしょうか。2日目からの連続の公演でしたので（18日、19日）、老齢につき疲れが気になったところです。その影響があったかのようで、オープニングのBlue Rainbowでは、前日あれほど的確に充実した演奏をしていたクラプトンにミストーンが散見します。速弾きしたいのにもつれる。どうも調子が出ないようです。続くPretendingでも頭のワウペダルのスイッチを入れるのを忘れています。途中からオン。ボーカルのピッチもイマイチ不安定な感じです。出だしからヒヤヒヤさせられるのですが、このまま不調だったかというと大間違い。I Shot The Sheriffでは、ボーカルも絶好調、後奏のソロではこの3日間でベスト、と言える素晴らしいプレイを披露しています。ここでの速弾きには一切ミストーンは混じりません。オーディエンスもこのソロには曲中で喝采を送っています。そしてアコースティックセットのSam Hall。曲前にはクラプトンが「この曲はアイルランドのトラッドソングで、葬式で歌われるものなんだ。僕はジェフのために歌うよ。」とコメントしています。来日公演中、ずっとクラプトンの想いは熱いです。この日もTears In Heavenの曲中に挿まれる”青い影”はオルガンのみの演奏となっています。どうやらこの形で落ち着いたようです。
さらにはレギュラーセットラストのLayla。2日目も持ち直した素晴らしい演奏でしたが、この日も素晴らしい！ボーカルがしっかりしてます。ちょっと変化させた三番のコーラスのボーカルラインが素敵です。そしてギターソロ！この日も歌心たっぷりの、クラプトンにしか弾けない味わい深いフレーズで組み立てていますが、半ばで見せたクラプトンの速弾きフレーズに即連動させるエモリーのシンクロドラミングはスリリングでゾクッとします。本作を聴く限り、疲れの蓄積は序盤には見受けられたものの、徐々に調子を取り戻し、中盤以降は素晴らしいパフォーマンスを見せてくれたという印象です。序盤を除くパフォーマンスのクオリティとしては、2日目と甲乙つけ難い出来だったと言えます。この３日目も楽しめます。是非お楽しみください。
