This year was also extremely busy, and you can see that it was the year we toured in conjunction with the release of the album “ME AND MR. JOHNSON”. It was also the first year that I held a big event called “Crossroads Guitar Festival” sponsored by myself. It can be said that I approached this event with a sense of satisfaction that all of them were successful, and with a clear and sunny heart. Moreover, just before this, there was also a dutiful aspect that he had also appeared in Gary Brooker’s gig with the same members. It must have been a fulfilling year that I wanted to live so much. Even at this event, which was the last of the year, they played blues, rock’n’roll, standards, their own songs and a variety of set lists with very solid performances. This is the pro! That’s the quality. Being able to listen to Clapton’s solo with a rock’n’roll number is valuable because it is not usually available. The sharp solo at Whole Lotta Shakin ‘Goin’ On in the first part is wonderful.
Also, the focus will be on the second part in which Ringo participated, but it is also valuable that Clapton plays Ringo’s repertoire, and the Boys also play solo. In the middle of With a Little Help From My Friends, the apple blows out without being in tune. According to data on Clapton’s fan site Where’s ERIC!, Ringo played only vocals until Boys and played drums in the next two songs, but when I actually listened to it, I found that vocal participation was in two songs, vocals & drums. is a total of 3 songs, 1 song. In front of the Boys, the apple said, “Then let’s try hitting the drums,” and the audience applauded, and after playing this song, Clapton called “Ringo Star!” So I have no doubt. More attention is that the Beatles’ Come Together was played, probably because Apple participated. It is believed that he performed this song only this year. In this song, the obbligato that Clapton puts in is exquisite, and it makes you feel a true sense (vocal is Brooker). Also, Clapton’s solo at Gin House featuring Andy has a great taste. A Whiter Shade of Pale is a rare pattern to enter from the piano intro. This pattern can only be heard here. Clapton’s solo in the middle is also wonderful. Cocaine before the encore seems to be a particularly cool song when played in such a set list. After all, this song is good. In such a way, if you can appreciate it, this is also full of fulfillment. Enjoy rare performances at rare events. [High sound quality unique to the master of the heavyweight taper] A heavyweight taper who has provided masters of many rare Clapton sound sources so far, but the master of this work has a special sound image among his recordings of this event so far. As I mentioned earlier, the sound of the band is too vivid. This sound quality is really amazing as if the band is playing in front of you. In addition to using high-end equipment and high-performance microphones for recording, it is probably the result of capturing the sound reverberating in a narrow box at the level of a rural community center in the front row. After all, if it was a concert in the local UK, there would have been a strong taper. From the BGM before the start of the first part to the announcement of the start of the performance, the BGM of “Hotaru no Hikari” before the start of the second part in the New Year, and the BGM after the performance, please record everything without leaking. I’m here. When I listen to this work, I sincerely think that I wanted to experience this warm and gorgeous concert at least once. I am grateful to the stalwart taper who delivered such a concert that we could not go to see with such reality. 【一般のファンが観ることができない特別公演の極上マスターがまたまた登場！】
エリック・クラプトンの秘蔵音源でお馴染みの、イギリス在住重鎮テーパーから、またしても年末恒例イベントの極上マスターが到着しました！もちろんこれまで未公開だったもので、今回は2年分の完全収録ステレオ・オーディエンスマスターでした。このイベントの音源については、ここ最近ではすっかりお馴染みになり、お客様から高い評価を得ている「ニュー・イヤーズ・イヴ・ダンス」と呼ばれていたもので、当店でもこれまで重鎮テーパーのマスターから1996年、1997年、2002年、2007年、2011年、2012年、そしてゲイリー・ブルッカーの追悼のために行なわれた2022年と7年分の極上マスターをリリースしてきましたが、さらにパズルのピースを埋めるマスターが出現したわけです。まず本作は、2004年12月31日にクラプトンの故郷サリー州の田舎町ウォーキングの公民館で行なわれたチャリティコンサートを素晴らしいステレオ・オーディエンス録音で完全収録したものです。このコンサートは、1993年以降毎年実施されてきた「ニュー・イヤーズ・イヴ・ダンス」と題されたAA（アルコール中毒者匿名の会）向けのチャリティイベントでした。元々は82年に、当時クラプトンバンドのメンバーだったゲイリー・ブルッカーが地元のパブで開いた「年忘れライブ」に参加したクラプトンがこの趣向を気に入ったことに端を発し、以降も断続的に年末に行なわれてきたものが93年にクラプトン主催で定例化し、大晦日の夜と休憩を挟んだ新年の朝に二度ライブを行なう「ニュー・イヤーズ・イヴ・ダンス」として定着したものです。洒落心から、毎回匿名性とユーモア性の高いバンド名が付けられるのが恒例にもなっており、この年は「TRUSTED SERVANTS」（頼りになる召使いたち）でした。そのバンド名どおり、このイベントではいつも招集されるイギリス人ミュージシャンで固められており、この6人がレギュラーと言ってもよいバンドメンバーでした。このコンサートは、クラプトンが会員にもなっているアルコール中毒匿名の会の会員とその家族を無料で招待して楽しませるというもので、一般のファンは観られないというのが建て前になっていました。ところが何事にも裏があるのがこの世の中。重鎮テーパーは、普段のコネクションを利用して見事に潜入し、多年に亘り上級機材による極上音質でのステレオ録音に成功したというわけです。今回の重鎮テーパーのマスターも、とにかくバンドの楽音のリアリティ、迫力が凄いです。ちょっと聴けばまるでサウンドボード録音のよう。このイベントの当店タイトルをお持ちの方ならプレスCDでリリースされるマスターの凄い音質は既にご理解いただいていることでしょう。本作も期待を裏切ることはありません。このイベントはメンバーとセットリストがこの時だけのレアなことで定評があり、しかも一般のファンは入場できないコンサートとあって、マニア垂涎の的と言えるものです。しかもこの年には、クラプトンと友人であるリンゴ・スターが第二部に出演していたというトピックがありました。3曲も歌やドラムで参加という長時間の出演で、ビートルズマニアにも堪らない内容となっています。それをファーストジェネレーションの極上DATマスターから聴ける。これもまた凄いことなのです。さて、それではここで、このコンサートが行なわれた2004年がクラプトンにとってどのような意味合いを持っていたのかをおさらいしてみましょう。
【新作発表とツアーを成功させた充実の一年の締め】
・1月４日：故郷サリー州のホール、ギルフォード・シヴィック・センターが閉館することを受けて、「ザ・ラスト・フリンジ」と題されたコンサートに出演。
・3月15日：ロンドン、ロイヤル・アルバート・ホールにて開催された「One Generation 4 Another」と題されたタヴァナーズ卿の立ち上げた基金のチャリティコンサートに出演。

この年も多忙を極めた年で、ちょうどアルバム「ME AND MR. JOHNSON」のリリースと合わせてツアーを行なった年だったことがお分かりいただけるでしょう。さらには自身の主催による「クロスロード・ギター・フェスティバル」というビッグイベントを初めて開催した年でもありました。それらをすべて成功裏に収めた充足感の中で、晴れ晴れとした気持ちで臨んだ当イベントだったと言えます。しかもこの直前には、同じメンバーでのゲイリー・ブルッカーのギグにも出演していたという律儀な面もありました。それくらいライブがしたくて堪らないという充実の年だったのでしょう。この年最後となったこのイベントでも、ブルース、ロックンロール、スタンダード、各自の持ち歌とバラエティに富んだセットリストを非常に手堅い演奏で聴かせています。これぞ、プロ！というクオリティです。ロックンロールナンバーでクラプトンのソロが聴けるというのは、普段はないことだけに貴重です。第一部のWhole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ Onでのシャープなソロなんて素晴らしいです。
そしてやはり注目はリンゴが参加した第二部になりますが、リンゴのレパートリーをクラプトンが演奏するのも貴重で、Boysではソロも弾いています。 With a Little Help From My Friendsの途中ではリンゴが音程がとれずに吹き出すのもご愛敬です。クラプトンのファンサイトWhere’s ERIC!のデータでは、リンゴはBoysまではボーカルのみ、この後の2曲でドラムを叩いたと記されていますが、実際に聴いたところ、ボーカル参加は2曲、ボーカル＆ドラムは1曲の計3曲です。Boysの前にはリンゴが「じゃあドラムも叩いてみるかな」と言ってオーディエンスの喝采を浴びていますし、この曲の演奏後にはクラプトンが「リンゴ・スター！」とコールして一旦落ち着けているので間違いないと思います。さらに注目は、リンゴが参加してくれたからでしょうか、ビートルズのCome Togetherを演奏したことです。この曲を演奏したのはこの年だけだと思われます。この曲ではクラプトンが入れるオブリガートが絶妙で、さすがのセンスを感じさせます（ボーカルはブルッカーです）。また、アンディをフィーチャーしたGin Houseでのクラプトンのソロはやっぱり味があって最高です。A Whiter Shade of Paleはピアノのイントロから入るという珍しいパターンです。このパターンはここでしか聴けません。中間のクラプトンのソロも素晴らしい出来です。アンコール前のCocaineは、こういうセットリストの中で演奏されると一際カッコイイ曲だと思えます。やっぱりこの曲、いいですね。そんなこんなで、鑑賞していただければこちらも充実感たっぷり。レアなイベントでのレアな演奏をお楽しみください。
【重鎮テーパーのマスターならではの高音質】
これまで数々のクラプトンのレア音源のマスターを提供してくれている重鎮テーパーですが、本作のマスターはこれまでの彼のこのイベントの録音の中でも音像が特別なものです。前述しましたが、バンドのサウンドが生々し過ぎます。まるで、目の前でバンドが演奏しているようなこの音質はほんと凄いです。録音に使用したのが上級機材と高性能マイクだったことに加え、田舎の公民館レベルの狭いハコに響き渡るサウンドを最前列で捕らえた結果でしょう。何せ地元のイギリスでのコンサートとなれば、重鎮テーパーの意地もあったでしょうから。第一部の開演前のBGMから開演のアナウンス、新年を迎えた第二部開演前の「蛍の光」のBGMから終演後のBGMの様子まで、一部始終を漏らすことなく収録してくれています。本作を聴くと、この温かく豪華だったこのコンサートを一度は経験したかったなあと心から思います。そんな日本人の我々が観に行くことが叶わなかったコンサートをこれほどのリアリティで届けてくれた重鎮テーパーに感謝です。当店が独自入手した極上マスターからの限定プレス盤となりますので、数量に限りがございます。どうぞお早めのオーダーをお願い致します。
