Last year, the “G Man” collection created a whirlwind in the collector’s world by firing famous HR / HM recordings. A masterpiece live album of DIO in the Golden Age, which will be the new work after a long time, is now available.
It was the “Karlsruhe performance on September 1, 1984” that was imbued with this work. It is a masterpiece audience recording recorded in the West Germany edition of “MONSTERS OF ROCK” which evolved from a festival in the UK to a festival tour around Europe. Speaking of DIO at that time, it was in the middle of the heyday when the masterpiece “THE LAST IN LINE” was released. This is the climax of DIO in 1984/1985. “North America # 1” is the final schedule of “HOLY DIVER Tour”, and then “THE LAST IN LINE” is produced and announced. We embarked on a major world tour again. The Karlsruhe performance of this work is the second performance of the “Europe” leg. Speaking of the symbol of “THE LAST IN LINE Tour”, the official video “A SPECIAL FROM THE SPECTRUM” comes to mind, but this work was about a week later.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed show, is a powerful and tight recording. This show has been introduced as part of the 5-disc blockbuster “MONSTERS OF ROCK IN GERMANY 1984 VOL.1”, but this work is a different recording. This is the latest collection just released by “G Man”. “G Man” is a taper that became a hot topic last year after a series of masterpieces from Germany in the 1980s. A variety of collections such as Ozzy, White Snake, KISS, MSG, UFO, etc. have appeared, but the most popular ones are Gary Moore’s “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1984 (Zodiac 439)” and MOTLEY CRUE’s “MONSTERS OF ROCK NUREMBERG”. Is it a group of press masterpieces such as “1984 (Zodiac 433)” and ACCEPT’s “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1984 (Zodiac 436)”? As you can see from the title, “G Man” is also known as “the master of MOR in 1984”.
And this work is also the latest bullet of such “1984 MOR collection”. It doesn’t feel like a sound board, but it doesn’t make you feel far away. The tightness of zero reverberation unique to the outdoor venue is wonderful, and the sound output from the on-site PA is directly recorded. The clearness that the performance and singing voice reach even the subtleties without cloudiness is tremendous, and even the electromagnetic noise called “Gee” that slightly leaks from the amplifier is picked up by the country name between quiet songs.
The tight sound is drawn by the full show of “THE LAST IN LINE Tour”, which includes the representative songs of Ronnie’s life. As mentioned above, it is also one week after the official video “A SPECIAL FROM THE SPECTRUM”, so let’s organize it while comparing.

Furthermore, “Mystery” and “Egypt (The Chains Are On)” are delicious because which one has not been decided as the representative song yet.
And above all, the glorious mood unique to the great heyday is wonderful. In “HOLY DIVER Tour”, Ronnie was screaming with a fierce singing voice that was familiar to him during the Sabas era, but in “THE LAST IN LINE Tour”, it turned around. Is it a margin created by success or a manifestation of joy? The vocalization that sings high is more magnificent than aggression, and it is further scaled up. He is performing a majestic show just like yokozuna sumo.
RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and the initial two of DIO … Ronnie continued to sing for the rest of his life. After that, the repertoire was nothing more than “seasoning personnel”. What flows out of this work is a full show that freshly plays the repertoire of “THE LAST IN LINE” as a new song.
