The live album of such a champion was recorded on “August 19, 1983 in Stockholm”. It is the best full audience recording. Speaking of live albums in the Guillain era, sound boards such as the formalized Reading performance, the masterpiece “CAPTURED LIVE 1983 (Zodiac 489)”, and the recently released “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1983 (Zodiac 601)” are standard, but they are all excerpts. Such a full show is much longer and more authentic than “SCREAMING MURDER”, which was released on the same day. In the first place, “SCREAMING MURDER” was originally created from the LP bootleg “BITCH”, so “Keep It Warm” was edited short and “Smoke On The Water” was replaced on another day, probably in order to fit it on one side of the analog. However, this “GMan” master has such songs completely recorded on site. And that “Smoke On The Water” is interesting. On this day, Guillain’s 38th birthday, Tony Iommi plays the birthday song in the intro. It’s rare for Iommi to celebrate a member’s birthday, but perhaps because he was too casual, none of the members came up to him. On the contrary, Guillain himself, who should have been celebrated, does not notice, and rushes into “Smoke On The Water” as it is.
And, more to the point, this work transcends the “GMan” master itself. The “GMan” master also had cuts such as tape changes because it was analog, but this work is complemented by the legendary LP “BITCH”. As mentioned above, from the opening BGM “Stonehenge” to the final BGM “Riders On The Storm”, you can fully experience the full show without missing a second.
To be honest, this work is on par with “CHICAGO 1983” in terms of sound, but it doesn’t surpass it. Even now, “CHICAGO 1983” is the “King of North America” and this work is the “King of Europe”. However, considering the contents of the show, this work is still the only absolute king. Rare songs without a soundboard “Born Again” “Keep It Warm”, the opening of “Stonehenge” only in the early days, “Riders On The Storm” that can only be heard in this work, and Iomi’s concern that no one has noticed “Smoke On The Water” …… You can fully experience the full show that covers them all.

このショウは当店の『SCREAMING MURDER』でもお馴染みですが、本作それとはまったくの別録音。話題の「GMan」コレクションから発掘された新録音なのです。そして、そのサウンドはまさにNo.1オーディエンス。従来録音『SCREAMING MURDER』でも『CHICAGO 1983』に継ぐツアーNo.2だったのですが、本作はグッとオンで極太。そのゼロ距離感覚の密着度、見事なセパレート感は『CHICAGO 1983』と肩を並べる２トップなのです。
サウンドが『CHICAGO 1983』と同等なら、なぜ本作が王者なのか。それはサウンドボードでは聴けない激レア曲満載なセットリスストにあります。ここで、そのスゴ味をチェックしてみましょう。

【激レア曲と史上初の完全ライヴアルバム】
……と、このようになっています。『CHICAGO 1983』は絶大なフルショウ体験を誇っていましたが、１曲１曲をチェックするとサウンドボードでも聴けるレパートリーばかりでもありました。しかし、本作はサウンドボードが存在すらしていない激レア曲「Born Again」「Keep It Warm」が楽しめるのです。さらに、上記でも分からない美味しいポイントなのが開演前と終演後。ほとんどの公演は「Supertzar」でスタートしていましたが、本作は極初期なので演出が違い、「Stonehenge」が開演を告げるのです。もっとレアなのが終焉BGMでして、THE DOORSの「Riders On The Storm」が流れる。“BORN AGAIN Tour”の終演BGMまで記録した録音はほとんどなく、本作で初めてTHE DOORSだったと知る方も多いでしょう。
そんなフルショウは、同日既発『SCREAMING MURDER』よりも遙かに長尺で本物でもあります。そもそも『SCREAMING MURDER』は元々LPブートレッグ『BITCH』から起こされていたこともあり、アナログ片面ずつに収めるためか「Keep It Warm」が短く編集され、「Smoke On The Water」が別日に差し替えられていました。しかし、今回の「GMan」マスターはそうした曲も現場通りに完全収録されているのです。そして、その「Smoke On The Water」が面白い。この日はギラン38歳の誕生日で、トニー・アイオミがイントロでバースデイ・ソングをチョロッと弾く。アイオミがメンバーの誕生日を祝うこと自体が珍しいのですが、あまりにもさり気なかったせいか、メンバーが誰も突いてこない。それどころか祝われているはずのギラン自身も気づかず、そのまま「Smoke On The Water」へ突入してしまうのです。
そしてもっと言えば、本作は「GMan」マスター自体も超越している。「GMan」マスターもアナログ故にテープチェンジ等のカットがあったわけですが、本作は伝説LP『BITCH』で補完。前述のように開演BGM「Stonehenge」から終演BGM「Riders On The Storm」まで、１秒も漏らさずフルショウを完全体験できるのです。
正直な話、本作はサウンド面で『CHICAGO 1983』と並びつつも、超えたわけではない。今でも『CHICAGO 1983』は「北米の王」であり、本作は「欧州の王」です。しかしショウ内容まで考え合わせると、やはり本作こそが唯一の絶対王になる。サウンドボードのないレア曲「Born Again」「Keep It Warm」、初期だけの「Stonehenge」オープニング、本作しか聴けない「Riders On The Storm」、そして誰にも気づいてもらえなかったアイオミの気遣いが笑える「Smoke On The Water」……それらすべてを網羅したフルショウを完全体験できるのです。
