BLACK SABBATH of the 80’s regained its glory with Ronnie James Dio. A major upgrade master of the most important sound source is now available.
“Performance in Toronto on November 19, 1981” is imbued in this work. It is the masterpiece audience recording. The most important reason for this work is that you can listen to the extremely rare songs “Turn Up The Night” and “Falling Off The Edge Of The World” of “MOB RULES”. So why was the rare song played on this day? In order to explain the circumstances around that, let’s first unravel from the schedule at that time.
● 1981
・ January 18-February 2: UK # 1 (13 performances)
《“MOB RULES” released on November 4th》
・November 15-December 21: North America #1 (28 performances) ← Coco
・ December 31: UK #2a (1 performance) ← *Official HAMMERSMITH ODEON
● 1982
・January 1-15: UK #2b (11 performances) ← *Official HAMMERSMITH ODEON
・ February 16-March 22: North America # 2 (25 performances)
・ April 9-June 1: North America #3 (35 performances) ← * Official LIVE EVIL
・ August 2-31: North America # 4 (11 performances)
This is the 1981/1982 BLACK SABBATH. “British # 1” at the beginning is the final stage of “HEAVEN AND HELL Tour”, and from “North America # 1” will be “MOB RULES Tour”. This tour also has the traditional work “LIVE EVIL” and the excavation board “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH ODEON”, but the Toronto performance of this work is much earlier than them. It was the 4th concert that just started the tour.
And this extremely early position is the reason for the rare song. Sabbath tends to play various new songs at the beginning of the tour and try live performance. New songs that are dropped on subsequent tours are also easy to play, and three rare songs that can not be heard in “LIVE EVIL” are also shown in this work on the 4th tour. Now, let’s organize the extremely rare set list and introduce the rarity of three different songs.
Heaven & Hell (3 songs)
・Neon Knights/Children Of The Sea/Heaven And Hell
●Devil’s Rule (5 songs)
・Turn Up The Night(★)/Voodoo/Slipping Away(★)/Falling Off The Edge Of The World(★)/The Mob Rules
● Ozzy era (6 songs)
・ Paranoid: War Pigs / Iron Man / Paranoid
・Other: N.I.B./Black Sabbath/Children Of The Grave
*Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard on the traditional edition “LIVE EVIL”.
★ “Turn Up The Night”
One of the rarest songs in this work. It has been confirmed up to the 8th performance of the tour, but after that it was not played by Sabbath or DIO after leaving Ronnie. The next live performance is HEAVEN & HELL after Ronnie’s death, only once at Ronnie’s memorial performance “HIGH VOLTAGE 2010” sung by Jorn Lande. After all, no sound board is left in any band / project.
★ “Slipping Away”
This is a rare song that was not played by Sabbath or DIO after Ronnie left, and was treated as an extremely rare song for a long time. However, it was recorded in the official work “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH ODEON” released in 2007, and now you can listen to the live performance at that time on the sound board.
★「Falling Off The Edge Of The World」
Like “Turn Up The Night”, this is also a masterpiece for which no soundboard was left in the 80’s. However, it was replayed at HEAVEN & HELL 26 years later and included in “LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL”. You can now enjoy soundboards regardless of the era.
… and it looks like this. In particular, “Turn Up The Night” and “Falling Off The Edge Of The World” do not have a sound board at the time, so there is no choice but to rely on audience recording. This work is the best work for listening to such two super rare songs.
If you are an avid collector, you may remember the already released “CANADIAN ASSAULT” on the Power Gate label, but this work is an upgraded master of the same recording. The sound is something else. To put it bluntly, “CANADIAN ASSAULT” was at the level of “I’m grateful to hear it”, the sound was distorted and the tape was unstable. However, this work is stable and stable. Clearly, the youthful atmosphere is clear and clear, and the direct feeling of the on-core and the separate feeling of each instrument are greatly improved. The outline of each sound stands out clearly, and the nuances contained in the vocals are clearly felt, not just one word of the lyrics.
“The most important work.” It is an extremely rare recording where you can enjoy “Turn Up The Night” and “Falling Off The Edge Of The World” where there is no sound board at that time, and an upgrade master that has greatly updated its highest peak. An absolute piece that is indispensable for the Ronnie era collection. Don’t miss it!
★ Great masterpiece audience recording of “November 19, 1981 Toronto performance”. It is the best recording that you can listen to the rare songs “Turn Up The Night” and “Falling Off The Edge Of The World” where the sound board at that time was not left, and it is an upgrade master that greatly exceeds the existing ones. It is a different class from the previous one, which was swaying and distorted, and the tape running feeling was unstable, and the air feeling of young generation was clear and clear, and the direct feeling of the on-core and the separate feeling of each instrument were greatly improved. It is an absolute piece that is indispensable for the Ronnie era collection.
