THE BLACK CROWES has entered the countdown state until their first performance in Japan in 17 years. The latest live album that burns the enthusiasm is arriving.
“Performance in Milan on October 13, 2022” is imbued in this work. It is the best audience recording. After the new corona pandemic, they are carrying out a reproduction tour of “SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their debut. The first report album “CHARLESTON 2022 (Shades 1554)” was also well received at our shop, but this work is also its second release. First of all, let’s take a bird’s eye view of the ongoing activities and check the position of the show.

This is the schedule for 2022/2023 that has been announced so far. The previous work “CHARLESTON 2022” was a live album born from “North America # 2” in June, but the Milan performance of this work is four months later. It is a concert corresponding to the 12th performance of the “European” leg, and it is also the period just before about half a month before landing in Japan.
The sound of this work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, is also superb. Although the enthusiasm of the venue and the lively applause between songs are realistic audience recordings, the essential performance sound is away from the customer record. The on-core is very thick and close, and the details are clear thanks to the transparent air. Although it can be understood that the vocal tone is a spatial recording, the balance and separation from the heavy bass to the well-extended treble are wonderful, and the details are clear.
A full show that foretells the imminent performance in Japan that is drawn with a vivid yet brilliant sound. The show consists of two parts, “First part (DISC 1) = SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER complete reproduction” and “Second part (DISC 2) = normal set”. Let’s get some specifics in order here.

Of course, the biggest listening point is the complete reproduction of “SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER”, but on the contrary, there is no way to explain it, and there is only “Please listen to it anyway!”. However, the second part after reproducing the album has changed from the previous work “CHARLESTON 2022”. In the previous work, the representative songs of “THE SOUTHERN HARMONY” and “AMORICA” were arranged in a concentrated manner, and together with the first part, it was a taste like “summary of the 90’s”. However, in this work, the 90’s number is reduced by half and the 21st century number such as “Soul Singing” and “Good Morning Captain” is introduced. It expresses the “30th anniversary” more broadly.
Among them, the biggest attention is “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'”. It is a cover of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, but at last year’s Camden performance, it became a hot topic so much that it was played in the music news for the first time in eight years. This work is a replay since then. It may not be played at the performance in Japan because it seems to be only once this time, but this work can enjoy such a valuable performance.
The first part of the complete reproduction of the 30th anniversary masterpiece “SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER” and the second part of the fun where you don’t know what song will pop out. It is the latest live album where you can experience such a full show with the finest sound. A masterpiece that will brighten up the anticipation of the long-awaited visit to Japan, and will probably brighten up the memories after it is over. It is an absolute new masterpiece that “should be listened to now”.

これが現在までに公表されている2022年／2023年のスケジュール。前作『CHARLESTON 2022』は６月の「北米#2」から生まれたライヴアルバムでしたが、本作のミラノ公演はその４ヶ月後。「欧州」レッグの12公演目にあたるコンサートであり、日本上陸の約半月前という直前期でもあります。
そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、サウンドも極上。むせ返るような会場の熱気も曲間の生々しい喝采もリアルなオーディエンス録音ではあるものの、肝心要の演奏音は客録離れ。オンな芯は極太で迫り、透き通った空気感のお陰でディテールも鮮明。ヴォーカルの音色的に空間録音とは分かるものの、ずっしりとした重低音からよく伸びる高音までバランスもセパレート感も素晴らしく、微細部までくっきりとしているのです。
