Play sample :
AEROSMITH in 1997, who sent “NINE LIVES”, a return work to the old nest Columbia, to No. 1 in the United States, and showed a heyday that did not decline even after leaving Geffen Records. Introducing the original master who can fully experience the site.
It was “June 7, 1997 Lyon performance” that was imbued with such a work. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of “NINE LIVES Tour”, it has exceeded 200 performances, and it is a huge tour that has two consecutive threads after “GET A GRIP Tour”. In order to experience the monster band at that time, let’s first look back on the huge tour schedule.
● 1997
“March 18” NINE LIVES “released”
・ May 8th-June 15th: Europe # 1 (20 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
・ June 30-December 31: North America # 1a (63 performances)
● 1998
・ January 3rd-February 10th: North America # 1b (20 performances)
・ March 1-14: Japan (7 performances)
・ April 18-29: North America # 2 (6 performances)
・ June 29: Cape Canaveral performance
・ September 9th-October 17th: North America # 3a (20 performances)
“October 20” A LITTLE SOUTH OF SANITY “released”
・ October 20th-December 31st: North America # 3b (31 performances)
● 1999
・ January 2-6: North America # 3c (3 performances)
・ April 11-May 23: North America # 4 (22 performances)
・ June 10-July 17: Europe # 2 (17 performances)
This is the whole view of “NINE LIVES Tour”. Actually, there was neither South America nor Oceania, but this scale. I was overwhelmed by the North American tour that exceeded 170 performances, but in the meantime, two laps in Europe and Japan were also inserted. The Lyon performance of this work is also the beginning. It was the 16th performance of “Europe # 1”.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed show, is truly the finest product. Although it was a DAT master brought by its own route, what flowed out from it was a powerful yet fresh Mine. The core is on, there is no sense of distance, and the details are super delicate. When a field engineer echoes Steven Tyler’s vocals, they should have the same voice, but they sound as if they were split into two. Of course, the vividness can be said for two guitars and a rhythm section. I understand that it sounds like an audience, but if you score the essence of the sound in terms of specs, you will get a high score that is almost the same as an FM sound board.
Moreover, what is surprising is the low audience noise. Great cheers are sucked in before the performance and between songs, and the sea of clapping spreads vastly. However, each grain is far from the thick playing sound. The site, “Halle Tony Garnier,” is an indoor venue with a capacity of 17,000 people, but the solid feel of the performance sound and the small number of close-up guests make it feel like an outdoor recording. It’s a super tight sound that I’ve seen three times on a tour date, whether the venue is really right.
The direct sound is a gorgeous full show that summarizes the heyday. Speaking of AEROSMITH in 1997, the sound board & pro shot definitive board “ROCK AM RING & ROCK IM PARK 1997 (Shades 1284)” is popular in our shop. Let’s organize the set while comparing here.
● Nine Lives (7 songs)
・ Nine Lives / Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees) / Hole In My Soul / Pink / Taste Of India / Something’s Gotta Give / Falling Off (★)
● Classics (12 songs + α)
・ Birth of the Beast: Dream On / Mama Kin
・ Toys in the Attic (★) / Sweet Emotion / Walk This Way
・ Permanent Vacation: Rag Doll / Dude (Looks Like a Lady) (★)
・ Pump: Love In An Elevator / Janie’s Got A Gun
・ Get a Grip: Livin’on the Edge / Cryin’
・ Others: Cheese Cake / Monkey on My Back
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that could not be heard in “ROCK AM RING & ROCK IM PARK 1997”.
…… And it looks like this. “ROCK AM RING & ROCK IM PARK 1997” is recorded in the same “Europe # 1” leg in May 1997, but the selection has changed slightly. Even the rare song “Falling Off”, which was a bonus track of “NINE LIVES”, will be shown. In addition to the “Falling Off”, the famous songs “Hole In My Soul” and “Something’s Gotta Give” are limited songs only for this tour, and in the first place, the sense of balance of 7 songs from “NINE LIVES” is wonderfully fresh. It is.
Even in the glorious Geffen era … No, the “NINE LIVES Tour” was even more brilliant. It would have been nice if the official version “A LITTLE SOUTH OF SANITY” had the same full show as this one, without any strange tsugihagi. It is a new masterpiece that you can experience. Originally, it is one that is considerably made into a permanent storage press. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ The best audience recording of “June 7, 1997 Lyon performance”. A powerful yet fresh beauty recording, the core is on, there is no sense of distance, and the details are super delicate. When the vocals are echoed at the scene, they sound as if they were split into two, even though they have the same voice. Although it seems to be an audience in terms of tone, it is a super tight sound like an FM sound board in terms of specifications. You can experience the best full show of “NINE LIVES” number large-scale behavior such as rare “Falling Off”, “Hole In My Soul”, “Something’s Gotta Give”.
