From the European tour in which the famous drummer Max Roach led the quintet and the quartet to complete two stages, live performances in Sweden and Austria are remastered from the radio broad cast master respectively. The broadcast was by date, but it is re-recorded as a quintet on disc 1 and a quartet on disc 2 for easy listening. The sound quality is better in Sweden, but Austria is inferior in hiss and other noise. Even so, the digital noise that was “clicking, clicking” has been carefully manually removed in dozens of places. By the way, in this performance, Freddie Hubbard got angry and stopped by a guest who was soloing. There are also scenes that are quite violently cursed. It is a precious moment to get a glimpse of the background of the times when jazz as black music was not firmly rooted yet.

名ドラマー、マックス・ローチがクインテットとカルテットを率い二つのステージをこなすという形式で行ったヨーロッパのツアーから、スウェーデンとオーストリアでのライヴがそれぞれラジオ・ブロード・キャスト・マスターよりリマスタリング収録。放送は日付ごとでしたが聴きやすいようディスク１にクインテット、ディスク２にカルテットとまとめなおして収録してあります。音質はスウェーデンの方は素晴らしいものの、オーストリアはヒスやその他ノイズで劣る感じ。それでも“パチン、パチン”と入っていたデジタル・ノイズを数十か所丁寧に手作業で除去してあります。因みにこの公演、フレディ・ハバードがソロ中の客によるヤジに腹を立てストップ。かなり激しく罵るシーンも。まだ黒人音楽としてのジャズがしっかり根付いていなかった時代背景も垣間見れる貴重な一瞬です。
