This is the 1980 JUDAS PRIEST. There was also a UK tour at the beginning, but this work is the final final stage. It was a special performance that witnessed the birth of a legendary festival just after returning home from the invasion of the United States.
The site is so symbolic that it has long been known for its clear, well-known recordings. This work is also the same audience recording, but a new excavation master that updates its highest peak. It is the 1st Gene Master excavated from the “GMan” collection, which is famous as a German recording artist.
In fact, the sound is awe-inspiring beauty. Conventionally, it was characterized by the clearness that seems to be an outdoor performance, but in fact, Omoto was even more clear! The previous master should have had zero reaction, but after listening to this work, the cloudiness is clearly felt, and the edges are round and mediocre. No, even if you listen to the conventional master now, it boasts a clearness that does not make you feel the era of 1980. However, this work easily exceeds it, and Rob’s high shout sounds completely different. It is exactly the razor edge that is the same as the artwork of “BRITISH STEEL”.
With such a sharp sound, a full show that reverberates in their home country with their new music “Heavy Metal”. However, even though it is the full set of the day, it is also a short set for the festival, so let’s organize the contents here.

これが1980年のJUDAS PRIEST。冒頭に英国ツアーもありましたが、本作は逆となる最終盤。全米侵攻から凱旋帰国したばかりで伝説フェスの誕生に立ち会った特別公演でした。
あまりに象徴的な現場は、以前からクリアな名録音が残された事でも知られてきました。本作も同じオーディエンス録音ではあるのですが、その最高峰を更新する新発掘マスター。ドイツの名録音家として名を上げている「GMan」コレクションから発掘された1stジェネ・マスターなのです。
実際、そのサウンドは目の醒める美しさ。従来から野外公演らしいクリアさが特徴だったのですが、実は大元はもっともっとクリアだった！　従来マスターも反響ゼロだったハズなのですが、本作を聴いた後では曇りがハッキリと感じられ、エッジも丸く凡庸。いや、従来マスターを今聴いても1980年という時代を感じさせないクリアさを誇っているのです。ところが、本作はそれを軽々と超え、ロブのハイ・シャウトも伸びがまるで違って聞こえる。まさに『BRITISH STEEL』のアートワークそのままなカミソリ・エッジなのです。
そんなシャープ・サウンドで画かれるのは、新音楽「ヘヴィ・メタル」を母国に轟かせるフルショウ。ただし、当日のフルではあってもフェス用のショート・セットでもありますので、ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。

しかし、そうした些末なレア度より重要なのは伝説フェスの空気感・体験感でしょう。夏のドニントンと言えば、なかなか日が沈まないイギリスの野っ原で、牧場も近いノンビリとした校外。そこに場違いなほどシャープで暴虐な新音楽「ヘヴィメタル」を轟かせている。今となっては伝説以外の何物でもない「第一回MONSTERS OF ROCK」ですが、本作から流れ出るのは目の前の現象がどれだけ凄い事なのか判断できず、ただひたすら無垢なままに打ちのめされている。牧草の匂いと金属臭が入り交じった大気までスピーカーから吹き出してくるようなドキュメント・アルバムなのです。
