This is the last world tour of the 80’s. “MONSTERS OF ROCK” appeared in the middle of the tour, but the full-fledged home country leg was set in the final stage of the tour. The last was the Hammersmith Odeon performance. This work was recorded in the second performance. It is also about 10 days after the Birmingham performance of “MAIDEN ENGLAND”.
This work, which vacuum-packs such a scene, is heart-throbbing with its eye-opening clarity. A recording excavated about 15 years ago, the sound is top class even in “Seventh Tour Of A Seventh Tour”. Or rather, in fact, collectors have earned the same evaluation as the press masterpiece “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1988: 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION”, which is said to be the best tour. This is not normal. After all, “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1988” was a masterpiece by master craftsman “Crazy S.” In the first place, it was an outdoor recording, so there was no physical response. The current MAIDEN has become so huge that it can not fit in Hammersmith, but in 1988 the traditional venue still looked good. This work is a live album where you can fully experience the scene with the best sound. これが80年代最後のワールド・ツアー。“MONSTERS OF ROCK”出演はツアー中盤に実現しましたが、本格的な母国レッグはツアー最終盤に設定されました。そのラストだったのがハマースミス・オデオン公演。本作が記録されたのは、その２公演目。『MAIDEN ENGLAND』のバーミンガム公演の約10日後でもあります。
そんな現場を真空パックした本作は、目も醒めるクリアさに胸がすく。15年ほど前に発掘された録音で、そのサウンドは“Seventh Tour Of A Seventh Tour”でもトップ・クラス。と言いますか、実際コレクター筋ではツアー・ベストとも言われるプレス名盤『MONSTERS OF ROCK 1988: 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION』と同評価を得ているのです。これは普通の事ではありません。何しろ『MONSTERS OF ROCK 1988』は名匠“Crazy S.”氏の名作でしたし、そもそも野外録音なので物理的に反響ゼロでした。もちろん、ハマースミス・オデオンには天井も壁もあってホール鳴りも吸い込んでいるわけですが、それにも関わらず同等のサウンドを実現しているのです。もちろんサウンドボードと間違えるようなド密着感ではないのですが、かと言って遠さも感じない。空気感が透き通っていて芯もレーザー光線のようにディテールまでくっきりと力強く、ホール鳴りも曇りや濁りを起こさないのです。
