This is a complete recording of the 1997 Japan Tour 4th day performance at Nippon Budokan with a good audience shot. This tour lasted 19 days, including local cities such as Fukuoka, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Nagoya, with a total of 13 performances. The schedule was as follows.

17th: Nippon Budokan ← ★ Here ★
20th: Marine Messe Fukuoka

I think it was time for the tour that started at Clapton’s favorite Budokan to finally get into the tune. The shooting angle is taken from the front on the right side of the stand on the 1st floor of the Budokan from beginning to end in a good environment with no obstacles in front. The camera is not fixed at the opening number, and the image is quite unstable, but it finally stabilizes at the end of the game. Since then, I have been devoting myself to stable shooting and do not feel stress. The zoom-up shot captures Clapton’s upper body, and the facial expressions are clearly visible. You can see how the stage starts from the sitting acoustic set, switches to electric, slowly shows off new songs, moves to standing, and gradually heats up. The Stratocaster he used was the talk of Clapton on this tour. It was a custom model called “Gold Leaf” with 23K gold plating. It seems that it was a guitar presented by Fender to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Clapton’s professional activities, but its dazzling brilliance also colors this stage. Clapton used this guitar only this year. In that sense, it can be said that this video is highly documentary. Clapton on that day is showing off his play that can be said to be in great shape. In the sequel to I Shot the Sheriff, I have decided on a terrible solo that will reach the maximum tension, and the solo in the middle of Old Love is also full of angry phrases. This alone is a sight to see. The camera is chasing only Clapton from beginning to end, and Old Love also captures the scene where the stage sleeves somehow change from gold leaf to charcoal gray strat after solo play (it doesn’t look like the strings are broken). But). The audio is also recorded with very good sound quality, and it is a high quality that is in the upper class as an audience shot.
As a topic of the day, since this performance was just the 100th time since Clapton’s first visit to Japan on October 31, 1974, a ceremony was held before the encore, and a beautiful kimono gave a bouquet to Clapton. It was presented. Clapton gave a speech, but I don’t remember the year when I first came to Japan, and it’s interesting to ask the working president of the Udo Music Office next to me, “Is it 72 years?” (Although that year was still in the middle of being addicted! I want to put in a tsukkomi). And this time, thanks to the support of the Japan tour so far, Clapton will give back the bouquet to the working president. This video, which clearly captures the pattern of the special production only for this day, will be very valuable. I would like you to get this edition as the best record of the 1997 Japan Tour.
