In 1967, The Beatles wrote, directed, and filmed their own self-produced film “Ma
Jical Mystery Tour”. In the UK at the time it was not a theatrical release but a TV broadcast.

ジカル・ミステリー・ツアー』。英国では当時劇場公開ではなくTV放送さ
れ後にビデオ化された作品で、日本でもこれまでにTV放送やビデオ発
売もされてきました。今回の”ザ・ヴィンテージ・ムービー・コレクション”で
は現在の公式リリースとは異なる独自の日本語字幕バージョンをまとめ
て収録。それぞれ翻訳が異なる日本語字幕の違いや映像ソースの違い
を比較検証出来るコレクターズ・エディションとなっています。DVD1には
これまで過去にTV放送された2バージョンを収録。2012年版は新たなリ
マスターに伴いTV放送されたもので劇中各曲の歌詞迄含め全編に渡り
独自の日本語字幕翻訳がなされています。1993年版もビデオ発売され
ていたものとは異なる独自の日本語字幕で過去に一度だけTV放送され
た珍しいバージョンを収録。DVD2には前半”1988年ビデオ・バージョ
ン”を収録。ジョージ・マーティンによる初のステレオ・リミックスそしてロ
ン・ファーマネクにより映像修復が施された最初のリマスター、日本でも
発売されたVHSビデオ・バージョンを収録。注目すべきは先行リリースさ
れた『SGT.ザ・ムービー・コレクション』収録のDVD/LD版とは異なりこの
ビデオ・バージョンならではの翻訳による独自の日本語字幕となってい
る点です。後半には”70年代フィルム・バージョン”を収録。70年代に日本
で初めて字幕入りで発売されたオリジナル・モノ・フィルムからの8mm映
像バージョンを収録。70年代廃版となって以降入手困難となっているこ
の映像は後のビデオよりクオリティは劣るもののオリジナル・モノ音源で
独特な日本語字幕もレトロ感を醸し出す今となっては貴重なバージョン
です。今回新たにオリジナル素材からデジタル修復作業で画質向上を
図り、かつてSGT.レーベルで初DVD化されたものと比べよりクオリティ・
アップした最新レストア・バージョンとなっています。コレクターには見逃
