では何をもって過去最高の画質と音質か、という事になります。このChasing Yngwieバージョンを収録したブートレッグDVD-Rが既に他メーカーから出ている事も当然承知しております。それでも何故そう断言出来るのか。それはズバリ、本作が現時点でChasing Yngwieバージョンの最高ランクにあたる日本版レーザーディスク(POLV-1703)をハイエンド機材でデジタル収録しているからです。順序立てて説明しますと、このChasing Yngwieバージョンには当時3タイプが存在しており、それは2種のビデオカセット版(ベータhi-fi・VHS)と、その最上位ソフトとしてリリースされたレーザーディスク(※以降、LDとします)版でした。このLD版の特徴は何と言っても画質の良さです。水平解像度400本以上で表示されるその発色の良さと鮮明さは、ビデオ版で当時最高の画質を誇ったベータhi-fi版を軽く超えるものでした(※ベータhi-fiは240本が最大値)。それゆえアナログテープ特有の色の滲みも皆無ですし、音質の良さも各ビデオ版とは比べ物にならないほど際立っているのです。この” LD版 Chasing Yngwie “を盤面の傷やアルミ銀板の腐食・劣化が全く無い、保存状態極上の日本LD盤からハイエンド機材でデジタル変換したものが本作で、走査ノイズやチラつき等が一切無いウルトラ・クオリティを実現したプレスDVDとなっている訳です。ところが先に挙げた他メーカーのChasing Yngwieバージョンを収録したDVD-Rタイトル(※数種存在する様です)は、前記したビデオカセット(主にVHS版)をマスター使用しているケースが殆どで、アナログテープ特有の画面のヨレやトラッキングノイズ、果ては劣化したVHS版特有の色の滲み出しや発色の悪さがそのまま出ているものばかりです。加えてサウンド面でも音の抜けと透明感がいまひとつで、分離感もあまり感じられません。しかし本作はミント状態のLDをマスター使用しているのでそれらのマイナス要因が元々ありませんし、それを最新機材で念入りに精査リマスターした上でデジタル変換していますから、LD版のシャープな映像と分離感の良いサウンドが何の劣化も無いまま鋭く鮮明に飛び出してくるのです。だからこそ本作を” 過去
