2003年のフルサークル・ツアー以来、9年ぶりに来日したイエスの東京最終公演となった2012年4月19日の渋谷公会堂公演を完全収録した2枚組。近年はCCレモンホールと呼ばれていたが、昨年秋に命名権が契約終了したため、元どおりの渋谷公会堂と呼ばれるようになった。ロック・コンサートはやはりこの名前でないとサウンドそのものまで軽く聞こえてしまうので、結果オーライということか。
まずは今回の来日公演のメンバーだが、ヴォーカルのジョン・アンダーソンが脱退してから久しいのでいつの間にかベノワ・デイヴィッドからグラス・ハンマーのジョン・デイヴィソンに替わっており、キーボードもオリヴァー・ウェイクマンからアルバム『Fly from Here』で復帰したジェフ・ダウンズに変更している。あとはクリス・スクワイア、スティーヴ・ハウ、アラン・ホワイトといった、鉄壁の3人だ。ジェフの参加によって、限りなく『ドラマ』時代のイエスに近づいたこともあり、なんとなくこの後のジョン・アンダーソンの再復帰を予感させてしまうが、とりあえず今回の来日公演での収穫は『ドラマ』の曲がライヴで聴けたことに尽きるだろう。さらに評判の良かった最新作『Fly from Here』の大半を占める大作タイトル曲の完全演奏も聴き応えが十分だ。気になることといえば、メンバーの高年齢化による演奏のスピード感と正確さが失われてしまったことだが、会場に集まったファンは誰もが「完璧なイエスを求めて来たわけではない」というのが感じられて好感がもてた。皆、懐かしい曲に酔いしれに来たのだと感じられた。あえて演奏の是非を記す必要はないと思うが、9年の年月が過ぎたという事実はどうしても拭い去れないと思う。
さて音質の方だが、周辺の客も騒ぐことなく終始静かに落ち着いて演奏に集中できる。音のレベルも一定しており、それなりのデジタル・テレコでの録音と思われる。全体的に非常に聴きやすいブートの典型だ。
