WISHBONE ASH when Marvin Spence was enrolled in O’RYAN, a famous singer known to those in the know. A masterpiece live album that conveys the illusionary era with the addition of beautiful voice to the rare twin lead is a new excavation.
It is “December 17, 1984 Stuttgart performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is the best audience recording. First of all, the schedule at that time …, but there is very little information on WISHBONE ASH at this time. It seems that there were actually few live performances, but in 1984 only a few performances in France and West Germany were known, and the existence of the Stuttgart performance of this work was not known. It is an “undeveloped era” where future research is expected.
Anyway, this work is a valuable storyteller that tells us about such an unknown era. Originally, it’s a rarity that you can just listen to, but the sound of this work has blown away that preciousness. It was made into a CD directly from the newly excavated Omoto cassette, but anyway, I was surprised at the closeness, clearness, and master freshness with “!!!”. There is a sense of space in the sound of the snare and the extension of the guitar, so I don’t mistake it for a sound board, but I want to make a mistake and affirm. This sense of distance is right … For example, if the sound board feels like there is a band in the brain, this work is in the front row in front of the PA … No, it feels like co-starring on the stage. Although I feel the presence of the vibrating atmosphere, there are members in the line of sight. That’s the feeling of close contact.
Moreover, it is extremely clear. Even though it is extremely close, if it does not crack even at the peak, there is no dubbing deterioration. If the twin entanglement is also clear, the bass drum, which tends to be squishy, kicks up the five viscera in the dimension of the vibe and shakes the six swords. Probably because it was a low-profile period, it didn’t appear in the trade, but that’s why the super beautiful sound that I could hold comes out without stagnation.
It is a truly unexplored stage that is drawn with such a direct beautiful sound. WISHBONE ASH is known as a band with a lot of live albums, but none in the Marvin era. I think many people will hear it for the first time in this work. What is the content……
● 70’s
・ Pilgrimage trip: Jail Bait
・ Argus: The King Will Come / Blowin’Free
・ There’s the Rubble: Don’t Come Back
・ Others: Bad Weather Blues
● 80’s
・ JUST TESTING: Living Proof
・ NUMBER THE BRAVE: Underground
・ TWIN BARRELS BURNING: Streets Of Shame / No More Lonely Nights
・ RAW TO THE BONE: Cell Of Fame / Perfect Timing / Long Live The Night / Love Is Blue / Don’t Cry / People In Motion
… And it looks like this. Speaking of live performances during the Raleigh-Wisefield era, the official edition “LIVE DATES 2” is known as the total settlement, but this work is the subsequent three works “NUMBER THE BRAVE” “TWIN BARRELS BURNING” “RAW TO THE BONE” It also covers, and the precious repertoire is dizzy. Some of you may have barely heard “Underground” live in recent years, but others haven’t. Especially when it comes to “Perfect Timing” and “Long Live The Night”, it’s extremely rare to say “Have you ever played live!” Also, “Bad Weather Blues” is not included in the album written during the “LOCKED IN” era, but it was a song that was often played in Angkor in the mid-1970s and 1980s.
And Marvin’s vocals are more vivid than rare songs! Although it was described as Glenn Hughes in later PHENOMENA and solo works, the singing voice that stretches comfortably is controllable and rich in expression. Skill, individuality and expressiveness are two signboards that are completely on par with twin guitars. Speaking of WISHBONE ASH, I think some of you may have felt that the tasteful but pale vocalization is a “wall” with URIAH HEEP, DEEP PURPLE, FREE, etc. If Marvin had joined 10 years earlier, history might have changed … It’s a wonderful vocal that stirs up such a delusion. Furthermore, Marvin has a great bass. The attack is John Wetton and Gorigori Buri Buri, and the spinning line is full of singing spirit. You can enjoy the finest sound of this work with plenty of subtleties.
WISHBONE ASH in the Marvin Spence era, which was drowned out by the waves of history. However, there was a wonderful stage on the scene that was different from any other era. This work is a proof of sound that conveys the scene with the finest sound with “super”. The brilliance of British rock, which has not lost its ingenuity even though it has been tossed by the times. Please fully enjoy this work.
★ A live album that tells the era of Marvin Spence, the famous singer O’RYAN. It is a transcendental audience recording of “December 17, 1984 Stuttgart performance”. The sound made into a CD from the newly excavated Omoto cassette is the best with “super”. The feeling of closeness as if co-starring on the stage, the freshness unique to Omoto, and the clear clarity. If the entanglement of the twin is also Katsuaki, the bass drum also kicks up the five organs in the dimension of the vibe and shakes the six dragons. The show will play plenty of extremely rare songs from “NUMBER THE BRAVE”, “TWIN BARRELS BURNING”, and “RAW TO THE BONE”, and Marvin’s vocals will also be able to experience the intense show on-site.
