1969年のワイト島フェスティバルにおけるWHOのライブを62分31秒収録。過去に４リール・プロダクションより初登場した白黒映像です。マルチカメラの素材ソースと思われるワン・キャメでのロングショット映像。1969年ワイト島フェスのフーのライブはオーディエンス録音すら存在しなかったので、この１時間に及ぶ初登場映像はリリース時、世界中のファンを驚愕させました。しかし、DVD盤はカビの問題で短期間で再生不能となり、この唯一無二の貴重なプロショット映像はソフトでは入手できない・再生できないというコレクターには頭の痛い状態が続いていましたので、今回のプレスDVDリリースはそういったファンにとっては朗報と言えるものと思います。本盤はこのワイト島テイクに加え、同じ４リール・ディスクに収録されていた約12分のボーナス映像をオリジナル・メニュー付でプレスDVD化しています。中でも20秒間だけですがフランスのニュース素材としてステージ下から撮影されたワイト島でのGo To The Mirrorのカラー・マルチカメラ・プロショット映像は貴重です。４リール版は音声に派手なイコライズを施してあるようで本編、ボーナス共にキンキンした音声を緩和し、聴きやすい音で収録しています。更に1973年、オランダはヴォールブルグで行われた「POPGALA」でのプロショット・カラー・ライブ映像を約50分追加収録。こちらはタイムカウンター入りの放送素材のマルチカメラ映像です。こちらも４リール・プロダクションより「Voorburg March 10th, 1973」でリリースされているのですが、これに関しては４リール版より明らかに画質・音声ともに良好です（何より自然な音ですし、パチパチいうトラッキングノイズもあまり入りません）「Popgala」ではMy Generationのみがテレビ放送され、それ以外はオフィシャル「Maximum」でMagic Busが収録されたのみで他は観ることのできなかった映像ですので、ファンは必見です。たまに無音箇所があったり画面の乱れが生じる部分もありますが、全てマスターに起因するもので、現在、入手できる最良のヴァージョンであることは間違いありません。ビギナーからマニアまで満足できる、まさに一家に一枚の決定版。合計2時間3分に及ぶ高画質映像が、待望のプレスDVDで登場です。

ワイト島フェスティバルと言えば1970年のオフィシャルリリースされた年のものが有名だが、その前年のウッドストックの数週間後にも実はワイト島フェスティバルが行われており、The Whoはこちらの1969年にも出演していたことはあまり知られていなかった。ところが何年か前にこの映像が突如として流出してきて一躍話題になったものだが、本作品はソースは同じ物ながらもプレスDVDによる永久保存版的な位置付けとしてリリースされたものだ。正直言って元々音も映像もそれほど品質の良いものではなかったので、今回のリリースによるバージョンアップは期待できないものではあったが、それでも映像の貴重さと歴史的目撃人になりたいという欲求からすれば本作は恐らくゲットしておきたいものだろう。一応ほぼコンプリートで1969年のワイト島のステージを見ることができるのだから。そしてボーナストラック的な収録だが、1973年の「Popgala」への出演時のフィルムを収録しており、こちらも4Reel製のDVDに収録されたくらいで、それほど流通していなかった映像のため本作での収録は嬉しいところで、貴重な1973年の四重人格前のThe Whoを生々しく楽しめる映像集となっている。更にオマケ的にいくつかのフィルムを収録しており、どれもあまり流通していなかった映像で初見ではないけれどやや貴重な映像ばかりというチョイスが見事。これらのソースを一同に集めてプレスDVDでリリースするという頼もしいアイテムで、ジャケットの処理なども秀逸なオススメDVD。
