Recorded 62 minutes 31 seconds of WHO’s live performance at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969. This is a black and white video that first appeared in 4-reel production in the past. A long shot image with one camera that seems to be the material source of the multi-camera. Since the 1969 Isle of Wight Festival Fu live didn’t even have an audience recording, this hour-long first appearance surprised fans around the world when it was released. However, the DVD version became unplayable in a short period of time due to mold problems, and collectors who could not obtain or play this unique and valuable professional shot video continued to have a headache, so this time. I think the release of is good news for such fans. In addition to this Isle of Wight take, this edition has a DVD of about 12 minutes of bonus footage recorded on the same 4-reel disc with an original menu. Among them, the color multi-camera pro shot image of Go To The Mirror on the Isle of Wight taken from under the stage as French news material is valuable, although it is only for 20 seconds. The 4-reel version seems to have a flashy equalization of the sound, and both the main part and the bonus are recorded with a sound that is easy to hear by relaxing the kinky sound. Furthermore, in 1973, the Netherlands additionally recorded about 50 minutes of professional shot color live footage at “POP GALA” held in Voorburg. This is a multi-camera image of broadcast material with a time counter. This was also released by 4-reel production on “Voorburg March 10th, 1973”, but in this regard, the image quality and sound are clearly better than the 4-reel version (more than anything else, it is a natural sound and crackling tracking noise. In “Popgala”, only My Generation was broadcast on TV, and other than that, Magic Bus was recorded only in the official “Maximum”, and the others could not be seen, so fans must see it. .. Occasionally there are silences and screen disturbances, but they are all due to the master and are arguably the best version available today. The Isle of Wight Festival is famous for the year it was officially released in 1970, but the Isle of Wight Festival was actually held a few weeks after Woodstock the year before, and The Who also appeared here in 1969. Little was known about what he was doing. However, a few years ago, this video suddenly leaked out and became a hot topic, but this work was released as a permanent preservation version by DVD even though the source is the same. To be honest, the sound and video weren’t very good in quality, so I couldn’t expect a version upgrade with this release, but it’s still a book given the value of the video and the desire to be a historical witness. The work is probably something you want to get. You can see the Isle of Wight stage in 1969 almost completely. And although it is a bonus track-like recording, it recorded the film when it appeared in “Popgala” in 1973, and this work was also recorded on a DVD made by 4Reel, because it was a video that was not widely distributed. It’s a nice place to record in, and it’s a video collection that you can enjoy the precious 1973 The Who before the quadrophenia. In addition, some films are recorded as a bonus, and the choice of only videos that are not very popular but are somewhat valuable is wonderful. 1969年のワイト島フェスティバルにおけるWHOのライブを62分31秒収録。過去に４リール・プロダクションより初登場した白黒映像です。マルチカメラの素材ソースと思われるワン・キャメでのロングショット映像。1969年ワイト島フェスのフーのライブはオーディエンス録音すら存在しなかったので、この１時間に及ぶ初登場映像はリリース時、世界中のファンを驚愕させました。しかし、DVD盤はカビの問題で短期間で再生不能となり、この唯一無二の貴重なプロショット映像はソフトでは入手できない・再生できないというコレクターには頭の痛い状態が続いていましたので、今回のリリースはそういったファンにとっては朗報と言えるものと思います。本盤はこのワイト島テイクに加え、同じ４リール・ディスクに収録されていた約12分のボーナス映像をオリジナル・メニュー付でDVD化しています。中でも20秒間だけですがフランスのニュース素材としてステージ下から撮影されたワイト島でのGo To The Mirrorのカラー・マルチカメラ・プロショット映像は貴重です。４リール版は音声に派手なイコライズを施してあるようで本編、ボーナス共にキンキンした音声を緩和し、聴きやすい音で収録しています。更に1973年、オランダはヴォールブルグで行われた「POPGALA」でのプロショット・カラー・ライブ映像を約50分追加収録。こちらはタイムカウンター入りの放送素材のマルチカメラ映像です。こちらも４リール・プロダクションより「Voorburg March 10th, 1973」でリリースされているのですが、これに関しては４リール版より明らかに画質・音声ともに良好です（何より自然な音ですし、パチパチいうトラッキングノイズもあまり入りません）「Popgala」ではMy Generationのみがテレビ放送され、それ以外はオフィシャル「Maximum」でMagic Busが収録されたのみで他は観ることのできなかった映像ですので、ファンは必見です。たまに無音箇所があったり画面の乱れが生じる部分もありますが、全てマスターに起因するもので、現在、入手できる最良のヴァージョンであることは間違いありません。ビギナーからマニアまで満足できる、まさに一家に一枚の決定版。合計2時間3分に及ぶ高画質映像。

ワイト島フェスティバルと言えば1970年のオフィシャルリリースされた年のものが有名だが、その前年のウッドストックの数週間後にも実はワイト島フェスティバルが行われており、The Whoはこちらの1969年にも出演していたことはあまり知られていなかった。ところが何年か前にこの映像が突如として流出してきて一躍話題になったものだが、本作品はソースは同じ物ながらもDVDによる永久保存版的な位置付けとしてリリースされたものだ。正直言って元々音も映像もそれほど品質の良いものではなかったので、今回のリリースによるバージョンアップは期待できないものではあったが、それでも映像の貴重さと歴史的目撃人になりたいという欲求からすれば本作は恐らくゲットしておきたいものだろう。一応ほぼコンプリートで1969年のワイト島のステージを見ることができるのだから。そしてボーナストラック的な収録だが、1973年の「Popgala」への出演時のフィルムを収録しており、こちらも4Reel製のDVDに収録されたくらいで、それほど流通していなかった映像のため本作での収録は嬉しいところで、貴重な1973年の四重人格前のThe Whoを生々しく楽しめる映像集となっている。更にオマケ的にいくつかのフィルムを収録しており、どれもあまり流通していなかった映像で初見ではないけれどやや貴重な映像ばかりというチョイスが見事。これらのソースを一同に集めてDVDでリリースするという頼もしいアイテムで、ジャケットの処理なども秀逸なオススメDVD。
