Among them, the “Musician Story” represented by this “Ritchie Blackmore Story” was broadcast for 6 consecutive days in August 1976. ’70年代に放送されていたラジオ番組を丸ごとパッケージし、時代の空気をそのまま蘇らせる様なアイテム性が話題を呼んだ「ROCK ON」や「RISING IN OSAKA」に続く、貴重なラジオ放送エアチェック・シリーズがまたしてもギフト・リリース決定！　今回はあの有名音楽評論家がDJを務めた”ロック夏期講座”の「リッチー・ブラックモア物語」！
本作でも当時放送されていた内容をそのままに収録し、聴き手を36年前へとタイム・トリップさせます！

ここに収録されている音楽番組は、’70年代中盤に関東地方のFM局において毎年夏に特集されていた”ロック夏期講座”シリーズのひとつ。同番組ではブルーズやプログレのほか、様々な切り口で海外の音楽やロックを取り上げていました。そのうちこの「リッチー・ブラックモア物語」に代表される”ミュージシャン物語”は、’76年8月に6日間連続で放送されたもの。この時は他にも「エリック・クラプトン物語」や、「ジミ・ヘンドリックス物語」、さらに「グレッグ・レイク物語」と、個性豊かな内容が取り上げられていました。
本作に収録された「リッチー・ブラックモア物語」は、第4回の8月12日にオンエアされた番組。ノイズ類がほとんど気にならないサウンドは特筆モノ。聴いていて「放送局のマスターをコピーしたのか？」とすら思えてしまうほど、その受信状態は安定しています。
番組はDJがディーゼル鉄道に乗っているという設定（実際に乗車しているようです）で、その車内でリッチーの音楽に触れていくと言う流れ。オープニングに続いてDEEP PURPLE時代の作品から、「Kentucky Woman」や「Speed King」、「Highway Star」、「Burn」に「Soldier Of Fortune」といった代表曲の数々が取り上げられていきます。
この番組で注目すべきは曲間のトーク。DJも有名な人物（WHITESNAKEの「BBC ENCORE HOUR ： Japanese Broadcast 1981」でもDJを担当）ですが、トークの相手も当時からの音楽ファンにとっては著名で、この二人の声が左右のチャンネルから飛び交うようにトークが進みます。聴き手は両者の間に入ったような感覚で、興味深くトークへ聞き入る事ができます。「Highway Star」の後で聴けるように、ギター・プレイヤーやひとりの人間としてのリッチーを分析する所は面白いです。
中でも「Roll Over Beethoven」の後、RAINBOWについて触れる場面は必聴。この時期はRAINBOWが本格的な活動を始めたばかりで、識者のコメントもまだ手探りの印象。バンドの方向性を見極めようとしている感じが、聴き手の”擬似リアルタイム感覚”をくすぐります。さらにトークの内容を聞いても、「新しいメンバーを集めたのはよいが、それを上手く調整しないうちにアルバムを作ってしまう」・「人間関係のスムーズさに欠けた」というコメントは、RAINBOWのその後も示唆しているようで非常に興味深いものがあります。
番組そのものは「Tarot Woman」で終了しますが、本作ではマスターに収められていたラジオ・ニュースもそのまま収録しています。ここでは当時世間を騒がせていた出来事に触れられており、やはりここでも聴き手に”擬似リアルタイム感覚”を味わわせてくれるでしょう。
