“READY STEADY GO”, in which many major artists from the 1960s appeared in the UK, was a music program that was easily seen only in Japan during the VHS era of the 1980s. Regarding the Beatles, two types of stand-alone software were released based on the appearance in the program, and images of various other artists are also released in omnibus format. Furthermore, the compilation of the Stones performance scene was not realized in software release, but it was aired on the Disney Channel in the United States in 1989 in time with their restart (RSG and other videos Broadcast as well). In other words, for Japanese enthusiasts, “READY STEADY GO” (hereinafter referred to as RSG) was a vintage TV video that was familiar with VHS and LD in the 1980s, alongside the German program “BEAT CLUB”.
The rights to RSG video were purchased by Dave Clark Five’s Clark in the 1980’s, and were released in official form on VHS and LD with the permission of a Japanese video maker at the height of the bubble. However, the contract was over, and after the 1990s there were no companies trying to sign a contract with Clark, and in the end of the DVD and Blu-ray era, the VHS period turned into a situation where RSG was difficult to obtain as a lie. I will. The video of the program seen on YouTube is also based on VHS copy. This was in contrast to the previous “BEAT CLUB”, which was a situation where substantial items were released on DVD.
However, since this March, a program that looked back on RSG was suddenly broadcast on the BBC. The content of the RSG footage was like a set of stones that will be unearthed in the future, but the content that was broadcast in one hour frame is very substantial. The video itself was often seen in the VHS era, but indeed there was only a broadcast in 2020, and it was an upper version broadcast that could not be compared with that time (now 30 years ago!) It became.

Since it is a British music program broadcasted from 1963 to 1966, the only performing artists are big slurries. It can be said that the fact that it is so fulfilling in one hour reflects the times. The first big hit in the broadcast was the 1963 Beatles, which first appeared. Here, they talked about “ Twist And Shout ” was a performance scene recorded at the beginning of “ BEATLES SPECIAL ” which summarizes their RSG appearances released only in Japan in the 1980s, but there The part corresponding to the top of the song was cut.
At that time, I couldn’t know the cause of this editing, but this time my performance was completely broadcast for the first time, and mystery was solved. When the performance began, the Beatles on the table were uttering and the girls in the gallery pushed the table to the center of the studio. It was a very Early Sixties production, but it was unavoidable that it was cut in the 1980’s because it was reflected in “Dasaku”. However, veteran enthusiasts who are familiar with the nostalgic VHS “BEATLES SPECIAL” will be deeply moved by the fact that this scene has finally become fully visible.
On the other hand, the upper quality of image quality unique to 2020 broadcasting is clear everywhere, but the one that has the most impact is The Who “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere”. This scene was used in their movie “ THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT ” and it was a video similar to mania, but the version seen there was quite coarse and it did not improve much even if it was made to DVD . However, this version is surprisingly sharp, and it’s a level that will make you feel more relaxed compared to the movie version that geeks have been familiar with for years.

And the RSG, which was basically recorded in the mouth, changed its name to “READY STEADY GOES LIVE!” From 1965 and evolved into live recording. However, it is surprising that the Beach Boys had already made it possible to broadcast live in the year 64. When this became Jerry Lee Lewis, the British Invasion group, which had caused a sensation in the United States, will also perform live performances as if they were riding on RSG and showing the difference between them in 64 years ( Was it special treatment for being invited from the United States?)
In addition, some artists can have both oral and live performances depending on the age, but in the Rolling Stones, you can see karaoke and Mick’s live songs on “Paint It, Black”. In addition, until the end of the performance, Mic’s microphone has a bad connection.
On the other hand, “I Got You Babe” is what the Stones made the most of the recordings of their mouths. Here, the show host Kathy McGowan plays Cher, and Brian Jones, who looks alike, takes the place of Sony Bono and performs a mouth and play, but then Andrews of Stones and other members and managers・ It appeared up to Oldham (it is very rare at that time that the manager appeared on the stage) and escalated the mouth play.

Anyway, it is enough to see that the famous artists of the 60’s are lined up with the slurry, but I am also surprised by Van Morrison’s dignified looks when he was at Zem. He is overwhelmingly overwhelming, but here he is pretty cool, even if he does not go to “handsome”. Not only those British groups, but also the wonderful scenes of American R & B artists from the middle of the program is also attractive.
Among them, Otis Redding is a lively song and performance, so it’s impressive. The scene of “ Shake ” with two of the UK’s leading R & B singers, Eric Bardon and Chris Farlow at that time was a masterpiece, but at the same time the RSG where Otis appeared appeared only in Japan in the 1980s There are many enthusiasts who miss memories of VHS being released. Nostalgic in every sense, the brilliant upper video version of a British specialty program from the early 1960s suddenly appeared in 2020. An hour of bliss that you will see in no time!

★ DVD of the special program “Ready Steady Go” just broadcasted on BBC Four on March 21! First of all, there was the first appearance of the Beatles, and since this point alone was valuable, it became a hot topic overseas. Since the video of this program itself was released only on VHS and LD, the video of other performers has also been significantly upgraded.
