The return of VAN HALEN, which was realized in one year and three months from the legendary first visit to Japan. The finest soundboard album that reigns as the highest peak will be restocked at the second press.
The performance of “September 11, 1979: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium” is engraved in this work. This is a superb stereo sound board recording that was unearthed two years ago and shocked collectors around the world. Two years ago … 2018 was a shocking year for VAN HALEN collectors. From our original route, the superb sound board masters of the 70’s have appeared one after another. From the first appearance recording to the classic upgrade board, a large number of various treasures have appeared. However, most of them are overseas performances. This work was a stereo sound board recording of a Japanese performance that appeared with full satisfaction. First of all, let’s confirm the position of the show from the tour schedule at that time.

・ September 3: Kyoto Kaikan
・ September 5: Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium
・ September 7: Nagoya City
Assembly Hall
・ September 8: Kurashiki City Auditorium・ September 10: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium
・ September 11 : Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium ← ★ This work ★
・ September 13: Nippon Budokan

Above, all 7 performances. The Osaka performance of this work was the 6th performance at the end. After this, Dave & VAN HALEN’s activities began to focus on North America, and they returned to Japan in 2013, 34 years later. At the same time as the early 70’s, it is also the brilliance of the final stage of the golden age VH left in Japan.
The quality of this work that recorded such a show is an ultra-realistic stereo sound board. It is a recording that was excavated recently, but it is not a well-organized sound like the official work, but a table-directed system with a lot of excavation feeling. Of course, it’s a beauty, not a drawback. The bare performance sound with zero sense of space jumps in like a bullet. Michael’s bass is super-clearly carved to a little grease, Alex’s drums run around in the brain, and the vocals are immersive as if the head became a microphone. Of course, the guitar is super-realistic as if the shield was directly connected to the ear. The enthusiasm of the audience is a super-dreadnought sound board that you can feel faintly even if you listen with headphones.
“You’re No Good” is a slightly interesting scene because it is such a de-class sound board. The bass solo just before creates a tremendous sense of chaos and space, and the snow falls into the song as it is. Let’s start singing! Vocal does not come in at the place where. Looking far away and hearing Dave’s voice, it seems that the mix desk engineer had failed to switch on the vocals. After that, it suddenly comes in. Of course, it’s just a mistake scene, but even that is rough and real. It’s a sound that you can touch directly with your bare hands in the reality of 1979.
Mania around the world are in a turmoil just because of the excavation of the de-class, but the original original sound was a little worrisome. Noise that seems to be scratch is scattered, and the pitch is unstable. Especially in the latter half of the show, it was crazy by about a semitone. Therefore, in this work, a complete treatment with meticulous mastering. Of course, I didn’t touch the taste of the de-class sound board at all, removed noise as much as possible, and finished the pitch accurately.
The show that roars with such a sound is amazing, cool! The set is made up of “Van Halen” and “Van Halen II” as in the first visit to Japan, but of course the balance and selection are very different. Here, let’s organize it while comparing it with “DEFINITIVE TOKYO’S ON FIRE (Zodiac 308)” which is a symbol board of the first visit to Japan.

Van Halen (8 songs + α)・ Runnin’With The Devil / On Fire / Jamies Cryin'(★) / Feel Your Love Tonight / Ice Cream Man / Ain’t Talkin”Bout Love / You Really Got Me / Atomic Punk
● Legendary bomber (7 songs)
・ Light Up The Sky (★) / Somebody Get Me A Doctor / Dance The Night Away (★) / Beautiful Girls (★) / You’re No Good (★) / Outta Love Again (★) / Bottoms Up!
* Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard on the symbolic board “DEFINITIVE TOKYO’S ON FIRE” for the first time in Japan.

… And it looks like this. I’m full with the masterpieces and the young enthusiastic performances, but this work has a lot of flavor because it is a performance in Japan. From the beginning, the scream of “Konichiwa Osaka Nii! Mata Rai Masita, VAN HALEN !!” roared, and the coolness of “Light Up The Sky” that exploded without a break … After that, the repertoire unique to 1979 such as “Atomic Punk”, “You’re No Good” and “Outta Love Again” is full. A superb set that combines the two masterpieces “Van Halen” and “Van Halen II” into one is unfolded like a fierce fire. As expected, the concentration of flamethrower may be half a step away when the legendary first visit to Japan, but the repertoire that has become richer in variety is colorful, and the confidence that conquered the whole world has multiplied the scale of the band. Is also big.

It’s a pity that it ends in the second half of “Atomic Punk”, but it’s a superb sound board that is so decent that you forget it. Dave’s “Ozaka!” Is a transcendental live album that explodes in the brain with live in Japan roaring everywhere. This is a magnificent reprint of the highest and largest cultural heritage that they left in Japan during the Golden Age.

Runnin’With The Devil / On Fire / Jamies Cryin ‘(★)/ Feel Your Love Tonight / Ice Cream Man / Ai n’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love / You Really Got Me / Atomic Punk
