VAN HALEN in 1977, who signed a long-awaited professional contract with Warner Bros. and continued to gig with the aim of making his world debut. Introducing the finest live album that conveys the scene and pops out extremely rare unreleased songs.

It is “August 1, 1977 Valencia performance” that is imbued with such a work. Audience recording of a show at the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park in California. The biggest point of this work is in the early live, which is rare in the class, but the sound that conveys it is also wonderful. The most surprising thing is the strength of the on-core. As expected, the situation at the amusement park venue is unknown, but is it a horribly narrow space or an open space with no walls or ceiling? Anyway, I can’t feel the reverberant component, and the powerful performance is approaching in front of me. Moreover, the master freshness is also excellent. Although it is a vintage recording, there is no distortion or twist due to dubbing marks, and the precious atmosphere of the site blows out from the speaker while it is fresh.

And this work is one that updates the highest peak of such a famous recording. Even if the recording itself is good for the original sound, the balance for each range is not good, probably because of the sound output. It felt like the treble and bass were emphasized. Therefore, in this work, the pitch is adjusted accurately and the balance and sound are also organized. With a more natural texture, we have reproduced as much as possible the sound that the band would have originally played.

And the show drawn with that sound is extremely rare. Speaking of VAN HALEN before debut, it is extreme whether it is a cover live of a famous song or a show full of rare original songs, but this work is the latter. There are plenty of original songs that will be recorded on later masterpieces and unknown masterpieces that have not been released yet. In addition, valuable demos are also included as bonuses after the live, so let’s organize them as well.

● Van Halen (7 songs)
・ On Fire / Running With The Devil / Atomic Punk / Ain’t Talking’Bout Love / Eruption / Feel Your Love Tonight / Show Your Love (Original song of I’m The One)
● Women and Children First (3 songs)
・ Loss Of Control / Take Your Wiskey Home (★) / In A Simple Rhyme (★)
● Others (4 songs)
・ Unreleased songs: One More Time / No More Waiting / Angel Eyes (★)
・ Cover: Summertime Blues (Eddie Cochran)
* Note: The “★” mark is a bonus demo track.

… And it looks like this. It is interesting that the “WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST” number has already been announced, but more notable are the unreleased songs. The intro of “No More Waiting” that was shown live has been diverted to “Take Me Back (Deja Vu)” of “BALANCE”, but “One More Time” and “Angel Eyes” have not been announced yet. It is a very rare song that can not be heard even in our popular decisive board “THE DEFINITIVE DEMOS 1976-1977 (Zodiac 418)”.

Especially interesting is “Angel Eyes”. Although recording was being considered in the “VAN HALEN II” session, there were only songs that did not match the color of the album and were stored, so the degree of completion is high. And it’s natural that it became a crap. In fact, it’s an acoustic ballad (!) That Dave sings softly. It’s a very rare song because Dave rarely sings ballads in VAN HALEN or solo.

VAN HALEN just before debut, where you can see the extremely rare songs that you can’t even hear in “THE DEFINITIVE DEMOS 1976-1977” and the prototype of “WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST”. It is a masterpiece album where you can experience the scorching stage and demo. Please experience the appearance of a revolutionary child on the verge of being overwhelmed by the world with this work.

On Fire/Running With The Devil/Atomic Punk/Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love/Eruption/Feel Your Love Tonight/Show Your Love(I’m The One
Loss Of Control/Take Your Wiskey Home(★)/In A Simple Rhyme(★)
One More Time/No More Waiting/Angel Eyes(★)
・カバー:Summertime Blues(エディ・コクラン)
ライヴで披露されている「No More Waiting」のイントロは『BALANCE』の「Take Me Back (Deja Vu)」に転用されていますが、「One More Time」や「Angel Eyes」は今も未発表。
 『THE DEFINITIVE DEMOS 1976-1977』でも聴けない激レア曲や『WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST』の原型まで覗かせるデビュー直前のVAN HALEN。
